    Adaptive T-S fuzzy-neural modeling and control for general MIMO unknown nonaffine nonlinear systems using projection update laws

    [[abstract]]This paper describes a novel design of an on-line Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) fuzzy-neural controller for a class of general multiple input multiple output (MIMO) systems with unknown nonlinear functions and external disturbances. Instead of modeling the unknown systems directly, the T–S fuzzy-neural model approximates a virtual linearized system (VLS) of a real system with modeling errors and external disturbances. Compared with previous approaches, the main contribution of this paper is an investigation of more general MIMO unknown systems using on-line adaptive T–S fuzzy-neural controllers. In this paper, we also use projection update laws, which generalize the projection algorithm, to tune the adjustable parameters. This prevents parameter drift and ensures that the parameter matrix is bounded away from singularity. We prove that the closed-loop system controlled by the proposed controller is robust stable and the effect of all the modeling errors and external disturbances on the tracking error can be attenuated. Finally, two examples covering four cases are simulated in order to confirm the effectiveness and applicability of the proposed approach in this paper.[[booktype]]紙

    Haptic identification by ELM-controlled uncertain manipulator

    This paper presents an extreme learning machine (ELM) based control scheme for uncertain robot manipulators to perform haptic identification. ELM is used to compensate for the unknown nonlinearity in the manipulator dynamics. The ELM enhanced controller ensures that the closed-loop controlled manipulator follows a specified reference model, in which the reference point as well as the feedforward force is adjusted after each trial for haptic identification of geometry and stiffness of an unknown object. A neural learning law is designed to ensure finite-time convergence of the neural weight learning, such that exact matching with the reference model can be achieved after the initial iteration. The usefulness of the proposed method is tested and demonstrated by extensive simulation studies. Index Terms—Extreme learning machine; haptic identification; adaptive control; robot manipulator

    Chaotic Control and Generalized Synchronization for a Hyperchaotic Lorenz-Stenflo System

    This paper is devoted to investigate the tracking control and generalized synchronization of the hyperchaotic Lorenz-Stenflo system using the tracking model and the feedback control scheme. We suppress the chaos to unstable equilibrium via three feedback methods, and we achieve three globally generalized synchronization controls. Novel tracking controllers with corresponding parameter update laws are designed such that the Lorenz-Stenflo systems can be synchronized asymptotically. Moreover, numerical simulations are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness, through the contrast between the orbits before being stabilized and the ones after being stabilized

    Intelligent Control for Fixed-Wing eVTOL Aircraft

    Urban Air Mobility (UAM) holds promise for personal air transportation by deploying "flying cars" over cities. As such, fixed-wing electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft has gained popularity as they can swiftly traverse cluttered areas, while also efficiently covering longer distances. These modes of operation call for an enhanced level of precision, safety, and intelligence for flight control. The hybrid nature of these aircraft poses a unique challenge that stems from complex aerodynamic interactions between wings, rotors, and the environment. Thus accurate estimation of external forces is indispensable for a high performance flight. However, traditional methods that stitch together different control schemes often fall short during hybrid flight modes. On the other hand, learning-based approaches circumvent modeling complexities, but they often lack theoretical guarantees for stability. In the first part of this thesis, we study the theoretical benefits of these fixed-wing eVTOL aircraft, followed by the derivation of a novel unified control framework. It consists of nonlinear position and attitude controllers using forces and moments as inputs; and control allocation modules that determine desired attitudes and thruster signals. Next, we present a composite adaptation scheme for linear-in-parameter (LiP) dynamics models, which provides accurate realtime estimation for wing and rotor forces based on measurements from a three-dimensional airflow sensor. Then, we introduce a design method to optimize multirotor configuration that ensures a property of robustness against rotor failures. In the second part of the thesis, we use deep neural networks (DNN) to learn part of unmodeled dynamics of the flight vehicles. Spectral normalization that regulates the Lipschitz constants of the neural network is applied for better generalization outside the training domain. The resultant network is utilized in a nonlinear feedback controller with a contraction mapping update, solving the nonaffine-in-control issue that arises. Next, we formulate general methods for designing and training DNN-based dynamics, controller, and observer. The general framework can theoretically handle any nonlinear dynamics with prior knowledge of its structure. Finally, we establish a delay compensation technique that transforms nominal controllers for an undelayed system into a sample-based predictive controller with numerical integration. The proposed method handles both first-order and transport delays in actuators and balances between numerical accuracy and computational efficiency to guarantee stability under strict hardware limitations.</p
