Wireless communication, identification and sensing technologies enabling integrated logistics: a study in the harbor environment
In the last decade, integrated logistics has become an important challenge in
the development of wireless communication, identification and sensing
technology, due to the growing complexity of logistics processes and the
increasing demand for adapting systems to new requirements. The advancement of
wireless technology provides a wide range of options for the maritime container
terminals. Electronic devices employed in container terminals reduce the manual
effort, facilitating timely information flow and enhancing control and quality
of service and decision made. In this paper, we examine the technology that can
be used to support integration in harbor's logistics. In the literature, most
systems have been developed to address specific needs of particular harbors,
but a systematic study is missing. The purpose is to provide an overview to the
reader about which technology of integrated logistics can be implemented and
what remains to be addressed in the future

Improving Contact Center Demonstrations at Cisco Systems
This project involved the design, construction, and implementation of a system to improve Cisco\u27s Contact Center demonstrations to potential customers. The system aimed to provide customized demonstration resources by industry vertical and geographic sales theater and streamline the demonstration creation process by Cisco sales representatives. By collaborating with Cisco sales representatives directly, the final deliverable is a set of demo resources that is likely to be used and ultimately increase Cisco\u27s Contact Center sales
A Multi-Site NFV Testbed for Experimentation With SUAV-Based 5G Vertical Services
[EN] With the advent of 5G technologies, vertical markets have been placed at the forefront,
as fundamental drivers and adopters of technical developments and new business models. Small Unmanned
Aerial Vehicles (SUAVs) are gaining traction in multiple vertical sectors, as key assets to generate, process,
and distribute relevant information for the provision of value-added services. However, the enormous
potential of SUAVs to support a exible, rapid, and cost-effective deployment of vertical applications is
still to be exploited. In this paper, we leverage our prior work on Network Functions Virtualization (NFV)
and SUAVs to design and build a multi-site experimentation testbed based on open-source technologies.
The goal of this testbed is to explore synergies among NFV, SUAVs, and vertical services, following a
practical approach primarily governed by experimentation. To verify our testbed design, we realized a
reference use case where a number of SUAVs, cloud infrastructures, and communication protocols are used to
provide a multi-site vertical service. Our experimentation results suggest the potential of NFV and SUAVs
to exibly support vertical services. The lessons learned have served to identify missing elements in our
NFV platform, as well as challenging aspects for potential improvement. These include the development of

Adaptable dialogue architecture and runtime engine (AdaRTE): A framework for rapid prototyping of health dialog systems
International audienceSpoken dialog systems have been increasingly employed to provide ubiquitous access via telephone to information and services for the non-Internet-connected public. They have been successfully applied in the health care context; however, speech technology requires a considerable development investment. The advent of VoiceXML reduced the proliferation of incompatible dialog formalisms, at the expense of adding even more complexity. This paper introduces a novel architecture for dialogue representation and interpretation, AdaRTE, which allows developers to lay out dialog interactions through a high-level formalism, offering both declarative and procedural features. AdaRTE's aim is to provide a ground for deploying complex and adaptable dialogs whilst allowing experimentation and incremental adoption of innovative speech technologies. It enhances augmented transition networks with dynamic behavior, and drives multiple back-end realizers, including VoiceXML. It has been especially targeted to the health care context, because of the great scale and the need for reducing the barrier to a widespread adoption of dialog systems
