The machinery industry is changing with each passing day, and the speed of machinery is getting higher and higher. The dynamic behavior and working performance of the gear system have an important influence on the entire system. Therefore, the research on the dynamic characteristics of the gear transmission system is of great significance to improving the stability and safety of the system. This article focuses on the establishment of dynamic model, the analysis and determination of incentive factors, and the solution of dynamic equations to optimize the gear transmission parameters and the efficiency improvement. After the optimization, the optimized values of the design variables were adjusted and the unit characteristics were redefined. Then the same analysis method was used to analyze the dynamic response and state-owned characteristics of the gear transmission system under the same working conditions. Therefore, the requirements for the dynamic performance of gears in mechanical transmission are more prominent

Dynamics analysis of the pitch control reducer for MW wind turbine

An analytic dynamics model was presented for the three-stage planetary transmission in the pitch control reducer for MW wind turbine based on the lumped-parameter method. The mechanical characteristic of the contact components was analyzed using the stiffness factor method. All the stiffness sub-matrices were combined to form the overall stiffness matrix of the three-stage transmission. According to the analytic model and the parameters of the pitch control gearbox, the movement differential equations were solved to investigate the natural frequencies and the vibration modes. Then, the undamped and damping forced vibration response were studied. A test rig was set up to measure the vibration displacement of the ring at the second stage and the output shaft under the nominal load condition, the comparison of the analytic forced vibration response with the experimental results validates the effectiveness of the lumped-parameter dynamics model for the pitch control reducer. This paper provides a reference for the dynamics optimization of multistage planetary transmission

Planetary gear trains (PGTs) are widely used in the field of mechanical transmission. PGTs significantly differ from fixed-axis gear trains and exhibit unique dynamic behavior. Dynamic characteristics of PGTs are popular research topic, particularly when attempting to solve the problem of vibration noise. Moreover, the effects of the planetary gear parameters on the dynamic characteristics are paramount important. And significant researches have been conducted in this field. However, few reviews regarding these studies have been published. In this paper, the effects of certain parameters, which include mesh phase difference, geometric errors (tooth profile error, eccentricity error and misalignment), tooth profile modification, mesh stiffness, and etc., on the dynamic characteristics of PGTs are summarized. Several conclusions obtained can be used for the PGTs design and dynamic characteristics analysis. Finally, the potential research trends are pointed out

Dynamic and tribological study of a planetary gearbox with local nonlinearities

A planetary gearbox model comprising five spur gears (sun, ring and three planets) and the carrier has been developed and analysed. The influence of gear teeth backlash and friction during mixed regime of lubrication has been taken into consideration. Greenwood and Tripp model is employed, while viscous friction is calculated analytically using the functions of Evans and Johnson. A combined tribodynamics modeling approach has been implemented and modal analysis is performed in order to predict the coupled mechanism of tribological and dynamic behavior, subjected to backlash and excited at the gear meshing frequency. The software used for the simulations is ADAMS MSc (Student Edition), where the model variables (concerning gear geometry and forcing functions) have been added in a parametric way. The results showed that small variations of the dynamic transmission error affect notably the viscous friction through changing the contact load between the engaged teeth pairs. Also, higher values of the Stribeck oil parameter due to higher film thickness or lower surface roughness in the mixed lubrication regime lead to reduction of the boundary friction, whereas a reduction of the total generated friction occurs when increasing the angular velocity of the input gear body (due to higher film thickness and smaller asperity interactions). The above lead to reduced power loss of the mechanism. Finally, a characterization of the system dynamics is presented using the calculated eigenvalues and eigenmodes of the corresponding linearized system. Potential interactions with the gear meshing frequency of the system are also examined
