Non-Negative Blind Source Separation Algorithm Based on Minimum Aperture Simplicial Cone

International audienceWe address the problem of Blind Source Separation (BSS) when the hidden sources are Nonnegative (N-BSS). In this case, the scatter plot of the mixed data is contained within the simplicial cone generated by the columns of the mixing matrix. The proposed method, termed SCSA-UNS for Simplicial Cone Shrinking Algorithm for Unmixing Non-negative Sources, aims at estimating the mixing matrix and the sources by fitting a Minimum Aperture Simplicial Cone (MASC) to the cloud of mixed data points. SCSA-UNS is evaluated on both independent and correlated synthetic data and compared to other N-BSS methods. Simulations are also performed on real Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrum (LC-MS) data for the metabolomic analysis of a chemical sample, and on real dynamic Positron Emission Tomography (PET) images, in order to study the pharmacokinetics of the [18F]-FDG (FluoroDeoxyGlucose) tracer in the brain

An Effective Way of J Wave Separation Based on Multilayer NMF

J wave is getting more and more important in the clinical diagnosis as a new index of the electrocardiogram (ECG) of ventricular bipolar, but its signal often mixed in normal ST segment, using the traditional electrocardiograph, and diagnosed by experience cannot meet the practical requirements. Therefore, a new method of multilayer nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) in this paper is put forward, taking the hump shape J wave, for example, which can extract the original J wave signal from the ST segment and analyze the accuracy of extraction, showing the characteristics of hump shape J wave from the aspects of frequency domain, power spectrum, and spectral type, providing the basis for clinical diagnosis and increasing the reliability of the diagnosis of J wave

Nonnegative Compression for Semi-Nonnegative Independent Component Analysis

    Get PDF
International audienceIn many Independent Component Analysis (ICA) problems the mixing matrix is nonnegative while the sources are unconstrained, giving rise to what we call hereafter the Semi-Nonnegative ICA (SN-ICA) problems. Exploiting the nonnegativity property can improve the ICA result. Besides, in some practical applications, the dimension of the observation space must be reduced. However, the classical dimension compression procedure, such as prewhitening, breaks the nonnegativity property of the compressed mixing matrix. In this paper, we introduce a new nonnegative compression method, which guarantees the nonnegativity of the compressed mixing matrix. Simulation results show its fast convergence property. An illustration of Blind Source Separation (BSS) of Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) data confirms the validity of the proposed method

In the last decade, wireless or wired sensor networks have attracted much attention. However, most designs target general sensor network issues including protocol stack (routing, MAC, etc.) and security issues. This book focuses on the close integration of sensing, networking, and smart signal processing via machine learning. Based on their world-class research, the authors present the fundamentals of intelligent sensor networks. They cover sensing and sampling, distributed signal processing, and intelligent signal learning. In addition, they present cutting-edge research results from leading experts
