Semi-definite programming and functional inequalities for Distributed Parameter Systems
We study one-dimensional integral inequalities, with quadratic integrands, on
bounded domains. Conditions for these inequalities to hold are formulated in
terms of function matrix inequalities which must hold in the domain of
integration. For the case of polynomial function matrices, sufficient
conditions for positivity of the matrix inequality and, therefore, for the
integral inequalities are cast as semi-definite programs. The inequalities are
used to study stability of linear partial differential equations.Comment: 8 pages, 5 figure
Stability Analysis of Integral Delay Systems with Multiple Delays
This note is concerned with stability analysis of integral delay systems with
multiple delays. To study this problem, the well-known Jensen inequality is
generalized to the case of multiple terms by introducing an individual slack
weighting matrix for each term, which can be optimized to reduce the
conservatism. With the help of the multiple Jensen inequalities and by
developing a novel linearizing technique, two novel Lyapunov functional based
approaches are established to obtain sufficient stability conditions expressed
by linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). It is shown that these new conditions are
always less conservative than the existing ones. Moreover, by the positive
operator theory, a single LMI based condition and a spectral radius based
condition are obtained based on an existing sufficient stability condition
expressed by coupled LMIs. A numerical example illustrates the effectiveness of
the proposed approaches.Comment: 14 page
H ? filtering for stochastic singular fuzzy systems with time-varying delay
This paper considers the H? filtering problem
for stochastic singular fuzzy systems with timevarying
delay. We assume that the state and measurement
are corrupted by stochastic uncertain exogenous
disturbance and that the system dynamic is modeled
by Ito-type stochastic differential equations. Based on
an auxiliary vector and an integral inequality, a set of
delay-dependent sufficient conditions is established,
which ensures that the filtering error system is e?t -
weighted integral input-to-state stable in mean (iISSiM).
A fuzzy filter is designed such that the filtering
error system is impulse-free, e?t -weighted iISSiM and
the H? attenuation level from disturbance to estimation
error is belowa prescribed scalar.Aset of sufficient
conditions for the solvability of the H? filtering problem
is obtained in terms of a new type of Lyapunov
function and a set of linear matrix inequalities. Simulation
examples are provided to illustrate the effectiveness
of the proposed filtering approach developed in
this paper
Almost automorphic delayed differential equations and Lasota-Wazewska model
Existence of almost automorphic solutions for abstract delayed differential
equations is established. Using ergodicity, exponential dichotomy and Bi-almost
automorphicity on the homogeneous part, sufficient conditions for the existence
and uniqueness of almost automorphic solutions are given.Comment: 16 page
Recent advances on filtering and control for nonlinear stochastic complex systems with incomplete information: A survey
This Article is provided by the Brunel Open Access Publishing Fund - Copyright @ 2012 Hindawi PublishingSome recent advances on the filtering and control problems for nonlinear stochastic complex systems with incomplete information are surveyed. The incomplete information under consideration mainly includes missing measurements, randomly varying sensor delays, signal quantization, sensor saturations, and signal sampling. With such incomplete information, the developments on various filtering and control issues are reviewed in great detail. In particular, the addressed nonlinear stochastic complex systems are so comprehensive that they include conventional nonlinear stochastic systems, different kinds of complex networks, and a large class of sensor networks. The corresponding filtering and control technologies for such nonlinear stochastic complex systems are then discussed. Subsequently, some latest results on the filtering and control problems for the complex systems with incomplete information are given. Finally, conclusions are drawn and several possible future research directions are pointed out. This work was supported in part by the National Natural Science Foundation of China under Grant nos. 61134009, 61104125, 61028008, 61174136, 60974030, and 61074129, the Qing Lan Project of Jiangsu Province of China, the Project sponsored by SRF for ROCS of SEM of China, the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council EPSRC of the UK under Grant GR/S27658/01, the Royal Society of the UK, and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany
A De Giorgi Iteration-based Approach for the Establishment of ISS Properties for Burgers' Equation with Boundary and In-domain Disturbances
This note addresses input-to-state stability (ISS) properties with respect to
(w.r.t.) boundary and in-domain disturbances for Burgers' equation. The
developed approach is a combination of the method of De~Giorgi iteration and
the technique of Lyapunov functionals by adequately splitting the original
problem into two subsystems. The ISS properties in -norm for Burgers'
equation have been established using this method. Moreover, as an application
of De~Giorgi iteration, ISS in -norm w.r.t. in-domain disturbances
and actuation errors in boundary feedback control for a 1- {linear}
{unstable reaction-diffusion equation} have also been established. It is the
first time that the method of De~Giorgi iteration is introduced in the ISS
theory for infinite dimensional systems, and the developed method can be
generalized for tackling some problems on multidimensional spatial domains and
to a wider class of nonlinear {partial differential equations (PDEs)Comment: This paper has been accepted for publication by IEEE Trans. on
