The Compressible Laminar Boundary Layer with Fluid Injection
A solution of the equations of the compressible laminar boundary layer including the effects of transpiration cooling is presented. The analysis applies to the flow over an isothermal porous plate with a velocity of fluid injection proportional to the reciprocal of the square root of the distance from the leading edge. The effect of several flow parameters on coolant-flow rates is discussed with the aid of representative examples. A stability analysis indicates that, although transpiration cooling requires a lower surface temperature for stable flow than does internal wall cooling, this lower temperature can be obtained with a smaller expenditure of coolant
Preliminary Altitude Performance Data of J71-A2 Turbojet Engine Afterburner
The performance and operational characteristics of the J71-A2 turbojet-engine afterburner were investigated for a range of altitudes from 23,000 to 60,000 feet at a flight Mach number of 0,9 and at flight Mach numbers of 0.6, 0.9, and 1.0 at an altitude of 45,000 feet. The combustion performance and altitude operational limits, as well as the altitude starting characteristics have been determined
Table of interplanar spacings for crystal-structure determinations by X-ray diffraction with molybdenum, copper, cobalt, iron, and chromium radiations
For a simple diffraction pattern, the time required to calculate interplanar distances from measurements of the pattern is not excessive. If more than a few lines are present, however, or if several patterns are to be studied, it is very advantageous to have available a table giving interplanar spacings directly in terms of the linear measurements made on the film of the lines appearing on the diffraction pattern. The preparation of the table given here was undertaken when the expansion of research activities involving X-ray diffraction techniques indicated that such a table would greatly decrease the time required to analyze diffraction patterns.
