TEACHERS' DATA LITERACY SKILLS FOR PEDAGOGICAL DECISION MAKING: NEEDS ANALYSIS IN LITHUANIA AND GERMANY
The purpose of the article is to analyse the needs of general education schoolteachers’ data literacy skills that are important for the effective use of learning analytics in the teaching-learning process. The theoretical part of the article presents the idea of big data in education, highlights the aspects of pedagogical value of learning analytics technologies, provides the overview of learning analytic tools. Some overview and comparison of spread of learning analytics tools in general education schools in Lithuania and Germany is presented in the context of data-driven education. The empirical part of the article presents some results from a big qualitative study of teachers’ experiences applying learning analytics tools in teaching - learning process. The main question of the current research is what data literacy skills teachers need in order to use learning analytics tools and make data based pedagogical decisions. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 Lithuanian and 9 German teachers from general education schools, who already have had experience in working with learning experience platforms (digital learning platforms that integrate learning analytics tools). Interview data were analysed by means of content analysis. The results of the qualitative study showed that in order to use learning analytics tools it is important for teachers to have such skills as: digital literacy, data collection, data analysis and interpretation, etc. Comparative analysis of informants’ answers showed that teachers in Lithuania and Germany expressed similar needs for data literacy skills.
For and by Student Dashboards Design to Address Dropout
International audienceThis paper focuses on the design process of a student dashboard, in the frame of a Learning Analytics project. The dashboard is intended to reduce dropout of first-year University students. The strong points of this dashboard are threefold: 1) the involvement of students in the whole design process, 2) the possibility of students to personalize the dashboard, 3) the possibility of indicating personalized goals

Holistic ecology (a novel)
This novel engages with the foundations of material ecocriticism as described by scholars like Donna Haraway, Serpil Opperman, and Anna Tsing. It explores, through a creative practice of fiction, aspects of queer ecology, monster theory, and disability theory, particularly with regards to neurodiversity and neuroqueerness, in the mode of M. Remi Yergeau and Nick Walker. It also draws on current trends in biology and popular science writing, such as fungal communication and cephalopod intelligence, and on tropes from speculative and post-apocalyptic fiction and the Weird. This novel seeks to provide examples of ecological entanglement and nonhuman kinship through imagined assemblages and mutating bodies. The central argument of this narrative is that the apocalypse, or the post-apocalyptic world as understood in popular imagination, need not be hopeless, or a final ending to sentience and emotionality. The “hopeful apocalypse” of this novel envisions an arc of more-than-human becoming – a journey from fearing the fictional fungal mutations to embracing them as a gift. The fungal webs and monstrous bodies of this imagined future allow for communication that transcends human language, and they facilitate continued human and nonhuman survival

Skills for future international commercial lawyers: a proposal for a skills-based course in the Chinese mainland context
This thesis identifies skills that are important for Chinese lawyers in international commercial practice (ICP lawyers). It demonstrates a unique understanding of the needs of Chinese international commercial lawyers (ICP lawyers) in their cultural and educational context. It makes recommendations for a new evidence-based JM curriculum which will assist Chinese lawyers to compete with their Anglo-American peers.
The need for international commercial legal services in China is critical to its economic development. The Chinese JM is not effective for skills or designed for international commercial practice. Transplanting a course such as the JD or PCLL will not solve this, particularly in relation to skills, English competence and the fact that the 'legal profession' is a comparatively recent phenomenon in China. ICP lawyers more often act as lawmakers rather than law interpreters. Therefore, skills are their main tools in navigating international commercial legal tasks.
Overall, a constructivist, experiential learning approach, allowing students to explore and to practise skills, is most suitable for skills learning in this context.
An interpretive phenomenological approach was taken, allowing participants to speak for themselves. The data was grouped into themes for the purposes of analysis. Investigation was by questionnaires to Chinese and non-Chinese ICP lawyers, interviews with Chinese ICP lawyers, and with people involved in education.
Analysis led to key themes: what 'international commercial practice' is; collaboration; languages and communication (including English as a lingua franca) and creativity. Cultural awareness and becoming an international commercial lawyer were pervasive.
The thesis used this data to design a new skills-based, experiential learning curriculum. Future research could investigate whether similar gaps exist in other countries where the legal profession is emerging, but where policy is towards increased international trade
Development Of The Internet Of Things (IoT)-Based Robot Trainer As A Learning Media In Remote Robotic Practice
Vocational education is higher education that must be in harmony with the world of
work. The development of the world of work today is following the demands of the
Industrial Revolution 4.0, namely the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, augmented
reality, cyber security, artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, simulation,
system integration, and cloud computing. Prosser's theory says that effective
vocational education can only be provided which training tasks are carried out in
the same way as tools and machines in the specified workplace, so that learning
carried out in vocational education must adapt to the development of industry 4.0.
The research aims to establish IoT-based robotics learning media and produce valid,
practical, and effective robotics trainer media. The research method used is Research
and Development with a 4D development model theory. The model elaborates on
defining, designing, developing, and distributing. The definition is based on the
learning achievement of practicum material by the competence of robotics practice.
The population in this study were students of the Engineering Faculty of Universitas
Negeri Makassar. The research samples needed include a one-to-one trial consisting
of 3 people, a small group trial of 5 people, and a large group trial of 19 people. The
model design uses a nonequivalent quasi-experimental. The research data analysis
technique uses descriptive analysis of percentages that describe the development
results, validator responses, outcomes of one-to-one trials, small group trials, and large
group trials. This study uses two expert validators in electronics, microcontrollers,
robotics, and artificial intelligence. The results of the validity data analysis stated
that the IoT-based robotics learning media had been declared feasible to be used.
The results of the effectiveness of media products based on the pretest and posttest results show that the average value of students before using the media trainer is 43.8,
increasing to 87.1 after using the IoT-based robotics trainer media. The research data
analysis and discussion conclude that the IoT-based robotics learning media developed
are declared valid/feasible, practical, and effective in its use
