We focus on software for playing songs and managing a music collection—tasks that children take great interest in, but for which they have few or inappropriate tools.     A software toolkit for web-based virtual environments based on a shared database

    We propose a software toolkit for developing complex web-based user interfaces, incorporating such things as multi-user facilities, virtual environments (VEs), and interface agents. The toolkit is based on a novel software architecture that combines ideas from multi-agent platforms and user interface (UI) architectures. It provides a distributed shared database with publish-subscribe facilities. This enables UI components to observe the state and activities of any other components in the system easily. The system runs in a web-based environment. The toolkit is comprised of several programming and other specification languages, providing a complete suite of systems design languages. We illustrate the toolkit by means of a couple of examples

    Implementation of Captcha as Graphical Passwords For Multi Security

    To validate human users, passwords play a vital role in computer security. Graphical passwords offer more security than text-based passwords, this is due to the reason that the user replies on graphical passwords. Normal users choose regular or unforgettable passwords which can be easy to guess and are prone to Artificial Intelligence problems. Many harder to guess passwords involve more mathematical or computational complications. To counter these hard AI problems a new Captcha technology known as, Captcha as Graphical Password (CaRP), from a novel family of graphical password systems has been developed. CaRP is both a Captcha and graphical password scheme in one. CaRP mainly helps in hard AI problems and security issues like online guess attacks, relay attacks, and shoulder-surfing attacks if combined with dual view technologies. Pass-points, a new methodology from CaRP, addresses the image hotspot problem in graphical password systems which lead to weak passwords. CaRP also implements a combination of images or colors with text which generates session passwords, that helps in authentication because with session passwords every time a new password is generated and is used only once. To counter shoulder surfing, CaRP provides cheap security and usability and thus improves online security. CaRP is not a panacea; however, it gives protection and usability to some online applications for improving online security

    Neural Embeddings for Web Testing

    Web test automation techniques employ web crawlers to automatically produce a web app model that is used for test generation. Existing crawlers rely on app-specific, threshold-based, algorithms to assess state equivalence. Such algorithms are hard to tune in the general case and cannot accurately identify and remove near-duplicate web pages from crawl models. Failing to retrieve an accurate web app model results in automated test generation solutions that produce redundant test cases and inadequate test suites that do not cover the web app functionalities adequately. In this paper, we propose WEBEMBED, a novel abstraction function based on neural network embeddings and threshold-free classifiers that can be used to produce accurate web app models during model-based test generation. Our evaluation on nine web apps shows that WEBEMBED outperforms state-of-the-art techniques by detecting near-duplicates more accurately, inferring better web app models that exhibit 22% more precision, and 24% more recall on average. Consequently, the test suites generated from these models achieve higher code coverage, with improvements ranging from 2% to 59% on an app-wise basis and averaging at 23%.Comment: 12 pages; in revisio

    UsaGame – A new methodology to support user- centered design of touchscreen game applications

Focusing on touch mobile game applications this study aims to fulfill a research gap, creating appropriate usability guidelines for these applications. Concerns about usability, touch technologies, mobile devices and game testing, provided the background needs for this study. Initial game application tests allowed for the creation and implementation of such proposed usability guidelines into a support checklist (UsaGame), designed to help applications developers. An evaluation test was performed with 20 users in order to assess the validity of the proposed guidelines. Results from the test of the two builds from the same game application allowed comparisons that led to the assessment of the importance of some of the guidelines implemented into the application. Results suggested a usability improvement on the game application implemented with the guidelines. Furthermore results allowed commenting on all proposed usability guidelines

    Safeguarding and exploiting Cultural Heritage induce the production of numerous and heterogeneous data. The management of these data is an essential task for the use and the diffusion of the information gathered on the field. Previously, the data handling was a hand-made task done thanks to efficient and experienced methods. Until the growth of computer science, other methods have been carried out for the digital preservation and treatment of Cultural Heritage information. The development of computerized data management systems to store and make use of archaeological datasets is then a significant task nowadays. Especially for sites that have been excavated and worked without computerized means, it is now necessary to put all the data produced onto computer. This allows preservation of the information digitally (in addition with the paper documents) and offers new exploitation possibilities, like the immediate connection of different kinds of data for analyses, or the digital documentation of the site for its improvement. Geographical Information Systems have proved their potentialities in this scope, but they are not always adapted to the management of features at the scale of a particular archaeological site. Therefore this paper aims to present the development of a Virtual Research Environment dedicated to the exploitation of intra-site Cultural Heritage data. The Information System produced is based on open-source software modules dedicated to the Internet, so users can avoid being software driven and can register and consult data from different computers. The system gives the opportunity to do exploratory analyses of the data, especially at spatial and temporal levels. The system is compliant to every kind of Cultural Heritage site and allows management of diverse types of data. Some experimentation has been done on sites managed by the Service of the National Sites and Monuments of Luxembourg
