At present, the development of intelligent furniture has started, and intelligent technology has been initially combined with furniture products, therefore, some convenient and interesting intelligent furniture products have appeared on the market. Intelligent furniture provides more possibilities for modern life, and offers good interactive experience to users. The emergence of intelligent furniture can be called a major reform in the history of furniture since it has not only realized the diversification of furniture and provided higher scientific and technological content regarding furniture, but also injected fresh blood into people\u27s home and living environment as well as made great changes in people\u27s lifestyle. However, since it is still in its infancy, and there is a lack of systematic theoretical research and guidance, design ideas and technical content, therefore, through the analysis of the concept, composition, development issues and design principles of intelligent furniture, this paper puts forward and take effective measures to guide the design practice, which is conducive to the further development and design of intelligent furniture

Smart Adaptive Homes and Their Potential to Improve Space Efficiency and Personalisation

    Get PDF
Over the last decades, population growth in urban areas and the subsequent rise in demand for housing have resulted in significant space and housing shortages. This paper investigates the influence of smart technologies on small urban dwellings to make them flexible, adaptive and personalised. The study builds on the hypothesis that adaptive homes and smart technology could increase efficiency and space usage up to two to three times compared to a conventional apartment. The present study encompasses a comprehensive semi-systematic literature review that includes several case studies of smart adaptive homes demonstrating various strategies that can be employed to enhance the functionality of small spaces while reducing the physical and psychological limitations associated with them. These strategies involve incorporating time-dependent functions and furniture, as well as division elements that can adapt to the changing needs of users in real-time. This review further categorises types of flexibility and adaptation regarding the size of the moving elements, the time that the transformation takes and whether it is performed manually (by a human) or automatically (by a machine). Results show that smart and adaptive technology can increase space efficiency by reducing the need for separate physical spaces for different activities. Smart technology substantially increases the versatility and multifunctionality of a room in all three dimensions and allows for adaptation and customisation for a variety of users

The world has evolved a lot recently, as the world has witnessed six epidemics from the twenty-first century until now, the first of which was severe acute respiratory syndrome, Middle East respiratory syndrome, Ebola, bird flu, swine flu, and finally the emerging corona epidemic. And if we had already entered the era of epidemics, it was necessary to conduct many studies that we will deal with in our study, as it was found that interior designers must start applying new standards for designing the internal and external vacuum, including For example, taking into account advanced basics to study interior and exterior design elements (floors, walls, ........, lighting, ventilation) And determine the number of people who live in one internal space. And as architecture is a mirror that reflects the culture of society, as it expresses the identity of the designer, his personality and the extent to which he keeps pace with emergent and changing events, Therefore, the architectural and design creativity is characterized in most of its designs by seeking to design external and internal vacuum that remain safe and livable and whose vacuum are not devoid of their occupants once an epidemic breaks out. The occupants of a single interior space are not concerned about being with each otherTo activate this, the most important precautionary measures that must be taken into account when epidemics spread will be identified, the basic design principles necessary to limit the rapid spread of epidemics in the internal void will be identified, On the one hand, a new vision of the contemporary interior space design elements (shape, void, function ... ...), And on the other hand, presenting a new vision for developing traditional methods that are already present in the internal vacuum with advanced technology, to reach environmentally sustainable internal spaces capable of withstanding in the face of pandemics and epidemics

Master’s thesis Curriculum in Landscape ArchitectureThis Master’s Thesis studies a dark-time landscape and lighting solutions in landscape and cityscape. Nowadays cities are more complex 24-hours systems. Life around the clock emphasizes an importance of designs to create safe and pleasant appearance of public spaces also in dark-time. The aim of this Thesis is to find the principles of modern lighting and develop the process between lighting design and landscape design. In this Thesis the four lighting perspectives are 24-hour city, user-centered lighting, light as visual factor in space and sustainability and resilience. The theory is based on landscape architecture. Spaces can be created by lighting as well as lighting infra at day and at dark time is part of the urban environment. Furthermore, rapidly developing technology enables resilience solutions and still follows the increasing need of new lighting solutions to be more user-centered. The survey among professionals was made to find out the current situation between landscape design and lighting design projects. The lighting criteria concept (LCC) was created from the current situation of lighting design. Dark-time landscape was analyzed in different scales. Lynch method of spatial analyzes was used in bigger scale to analyze areas’ landmarks, nodes and districts during the dark-time. In closer scale layers of lights analyze were used to find to the space and place feeling and to create more pleasant dark-time landscape. Two ongoing build environment projects, Jätkäsaari and Tripla in Helsinki were used as case areas. After Lynch method of spatial analyzes different kind of urban environments were taken to closer analyzing. These conceptual areas are a park, a hybrid space and a post-industrial site. In these conceptual urban enviroments were used as an example to create lighting as a service. The results emphasize the importance of dark-time experience of an urban landscape and a collaboration for achieving a new lighting solutions

Introduction: Nowadays, the concept of “safe city” has become one of the topical issues of scientific research in many areas of human activity. Besides architects, designers, and builders, IT specialists are actively involved in creating a safe urban environment. A safe city very often involves the construction of a complex distribution system, which is capable of integrating heterogeneous elements of the urban environment, such as residential utilities, highways, strategic facilities, into a single managed structure. In the architectural and design activities, methods of designing the safe environment are well known, which facilitate the creation of open spaces, the creation of comfortable redevelopment of urban voids, etc. Thus, it can be argued that many existing problems of urban environmental safety are being successfully addressed. Nevertheless, the current trend of urbanization and the consequent increase in the population of agglomerations, the construction of high-rise buildings, the development of infrastructure, the formation of new areas and entire cities lead to other problems with urban safety or require the review of existing methods. In this regard, it is of great interest to identify categories of topical problems and methods of the study and the implementation of the principles of urban environmental safety. This study is aimed to identify the safety categories, methods of their realization, and the effectiveness of the methodological features of scientific research on a safe urban environment. Materials and Methods: The research method is based on the study of scientific articles in the post-pandemic period. Results and Discussion: The result of the study is the systematization of typological features of scientific research methods and obtained results in the organization of a safe urban environment. Conclusions: These results could form the basis for an action plan aimed at creating a safe urban environment for all categories of people. Such measures should be developed at the regional level to assess the territory’s security.
