    Architecture for Mobile Heterogeneous Multi Domain Networks

    Multi domain networks can be used in several scenarios including military, enterprize networks, emergency networks and many other cases. In such networks, each domain might be under its own administration. Therefore, the cooperation among domains is conditioned by individual domain policies regarding sharing information, such as network topology, connectivity, mobility, security, various service availability and so on. We propose a new architecture for Heterogeneous Multi Domain (HMD) networks, in which one the operations are subject to specific domain policies. We propose a hierarchical architecture, with an infrastructure of gateways at highest-control level that enables policy based interconnection, mobility and other services among domains. Gateways are responsible for translation among different communication protocols, including routing, signalling, and security. Besides the architecture, we discuss in more details the mobility and adaptive capacity of services in HMD. We discuss the HMD scalability and other advantages compared to existing architectural and mobility solutions. Furthermore, we analyze the dynamic availability at the control level of the hierarchy

    Application of Simulation Modelling Means in Management Decisions-making within the Security and Defence Sector

    Problems and modern tendencies in the field of creating complex models of combat operations are considered. The systematic analysis of existing models of combat operations is carried out and their conformity to modern conditions and development of military art is defined. Features of combat operations models development when using means of simulation modelling are exposed with the use of a method of mathematical simulation. The structure of the complex simulation modelling of actions of forces is formed. The composition of standard models of components of the security and defence sector is determined and the sphere of their application is outlined, which allows controlling the unit in different situations at the stage of choosing decisions at different levels of management. The main directions of the development of modelling complexes and systems are determined. The practical implementation of these approaches, along with the implementation of the principles of cost-effectiveness of models, their coordinated development, system compatibility of models for different purposes and large-scale use of proven commercial decisions will create a cluster of combat operations models, which is a real tool for effective decision-making on troops management and allows laying down technical requirements for the development of a modern complex of simulation modelling. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-01294 Full Text: PD

    Status of NASA/Army rotorcraft research and development piloted flight simulation

    The status of the major NASA/Army capabilities in piloted rotorcraft flight simulation is reviewed. The requirements for research and development piloted simulation are addressed as well as the capabilities and technologies that are currently available or are being developed by NASA and the Army at Ames. The application of revolutionary advances (in visual scene, electronic cockpits, motion, and modelling of interactive mission environments and/or vehicle systems) to the NASA/Army facilities are also addressed. Particular attention is devoted to the major advances made in integrating these individual capabilities into fully integrated simulation environment that were or are being applied to new rotorcraft mission requirements.     This report gives an overview of the literature on decision tables over the past 15 years. As much as possible, for each reference, an author supplied abstract, a number of keywords and a classification are provided. In some cases own comments are added. The purpose of these comments is to show where, how and why decision tables are used. The literature is classified according to application area, theoretical versus practical character, year of publication, country or origin (not necessarily country of publication) and the language of the document. After a description of the scope of the interview, classification results and the classification by topic are presented. The main body of the paper is the ordered list of publications with abstract, classification and comments.

    Applications of agent architectures to decision support in distributed simulation and training systems

    This work develops the approach and presents the results of a new model for applying intelligent agents to complex distributed interactive simulation for command and control. In the framework of tactical command, control communications, computers and intelligence (C4I), software agents provide a novel approach for efficient decision support and distributed interactive mission training. An agent-based architecture for decision support is designed, implemented and is applied in a distributed interactive simulation to significantly enhance the command and control training during simulated exercises. The architecture is based on monitoring, evaluation, and advice agents, which cooperate to provide alternatives to the dec ision-maker in a time and resource constrained environment. The architecture is implemented and tested within the context of an AWACS Weapons Director trainer tool. The foundation of the work required a wide range of preliminary research topics to be covered, including real-time systems, resource allocation, agent-based computing, decision support systems, and distributed interactive simulations. The major contribution of our work is the construction of a multi-agent architecture and its application to an operational decision support system for command and control interactive simulation. The architectural design for the multi-agent system was drafted in the first stage of the work. In the next stage rules of engagement, objective and cost functions were determined in the AWACS (Airforce command and control) decision support domain. Finally, the multi-agent architecture was implemented and evaluated inside a distributed interactive simulation test-bed for AWACS Vv\u27Ds. The evaluation process combined individual and team use of the decision support system to improve the performance results of WD trainees. The decision support system is designed and implemented a distributed architecture for performance-oriented management of software agents. The approach provides new agent interaction protocols and utilizes agent performance monitoring and remote synchronization mechanisms. This multi-agent architecture enables direct and indirect agent communication as well as dynamic hierarchical agent coordination. Inter-agent communications use predefined interfaces, protocols, and open channels with specified ontology and semantics. Services can be requested and responses with results received over such communication modes.     Agent-based Modeling Methodology for Analyzing Weapons Systems

    Getting as much information as possible to make decisions about acquisition of new weapons systems, through analysis of the weapons systems\u27 benefits and costs, yields better decisions. This study has twin goals. The first is to demonstrate a sound methodology to yield the most information about benefits of a particular weapon system. Second, to provide some baseline analysis of the benefits of a new type of missile, the Small Advanced Capability Missile (SACM) concept, in an unclassified general sense that will help improve further, more detailed, classified investigations into the benefits of this missile. In a simplified, unclassified scenario, we show that the SACM provides several advantages and we demonstrate a basis for further investigation into which tactics should be used in conjunction with the SACM. Furthermore, we discuss how each of the chosen factors influence the air combat scenario. Ultimately, we establish the usefulness of a designed experimental approach to analysis of agent-based simulation models and how agent-based models yield a great amount of information about the complex interactions of different actors on the battlefield
