Interpretation Problems in Code Generation from UML State Machines -a Comparative Study
Abstract. A practical utilisation of a model-driven approach to an information system development is hampered by inconsistencies causing interpretation problems. This paper focuses on the state machine that is a common means for modelling behaviour. A transformation of classes with their state machines into a code assists in the efficient development of reliable applications. A set of interpretation problems of state machines was revisited in accordance with the UML specification and examined on model examples transformed to an executable code. The paper compares the implementation of the problems regarding to two tools that support the transformation and takes into account the most comprehensive set of the UML behavioural state machine concepts. The tools are the IBM Rational Rhapsody, which transforms state machines to C, C++, Java, Ada and the Framework for eXecutable UML (FXU) dealing with the C# code. The basic information about the FXU tool is also given

The dissertation includes the languages MODEL-HS and VYSMO for modular, declarative description of hybrid systems that serve the proof of time- and safety-critical properties for symbolic simulation in CLP. For coming to language-theoretical conclusions like decidability hybrid systems are newly defined under acceptance conditions that can be formally proved and for which practical examples bear witness. A new classification of hybrid systems, a tool ROSSY, query descriptions and their transformation into temporal-logic expressions, query forms and applications for study systems and parallel programs are further results
Modelling and model checking suspendible business processes via statechart diagrams and CSP
When modelling object behaviour with UML statechart diagrams, the history mechanism can be useful for modelling the suspension of a “normal” business process upon certain “abnormal” events together with the subsequent resumption, as illustrated by the examples in this paper. However, previous approaches to model checking statechart diagrams often ignore the history mechanism. We enhanced such a previous approach based on Communicating Sequential Processes (CSP) and developed a support tool for it
