MOBILE MARKETING FUTURE TRENDS
The present article proposes an introspection into the field of a new marketing specialization – mobile marketing. The concept mainly refers to all marketing activities related to the new communication channel – Short Message Service, Multimedia Messaging Service, and internet access from mobile phone. The article provides, at the same time, a marketing perspective about future trends of mobile marketing and mobile media, and also a technical perspective related to the future mobile communication technologies in the field – the LTE (Long Term Evolution) – cellular communication system optimized to support packet-switched data services to enable mobile broadband. Defining Mobile Tech Posture: Prevalence and Position Among Millennials
Background: Mobile technologies have revolutionized daily life, significantly impacting ADLs and IADLs, as well as use of the hand and upper extremity. The primary objectives of this study are to (a) provide a formal goniometric description of mobile tech posture and (b) examine the prevalence of this sub-optimal posture among a group of graduate students.
Method: This study used a cross-sectional study design. Comprehensive goniometric measurements of the neck and upper extremity were taken with participants (N = 46) using their mobile devices while texting or using the Internet. Handheld usage data from the iPhone Screen Time feature (iOS 12) was collected from a sample of healthy young adults.
Results: The participants spent an average of 143 min per day using mobile technology. Comprehensive goniometric measurements highlighted positions of clinical concern, including cervical spine flexion, scapular protraction, elbow flexion, and wrist ulnar deviation with thumb flexion.
Discussion: Findings aligned with prior research suggesting several hr per day of handheld mobile technology use among young adults. Mobile tech posture, as described by goniometric trends, includes several positions of concern for musculoskeletal imbalance or cumulative trauma disorders (e.g., cubital tunnel syndrome; De Quervain’s tenosynovitis). Further research is recommended to examine broader societal trends and impact on occupational performance
Global Trends in Mobile Technology and Their Impact on Your Library
Contrary to the impression of many Americans, some less technologically developed countries are more actively using mobile technology than we are. As mobile technology is exploding in both our personal and professional lives, this is impacting our libraries and our users as they reach out to us with their mobile devices. This article will examine some of these trends and discuss ways that libraries can begin to institute mobile services even if they do not have a lot of funds or technical expertise. Unconventional TV Detection using Mobile Devices
Recent studies show that the TV viewing experience is changing giving the
rise of trends like "multi-screen viewing" and "connected viewers". These
trends describe TV viewers that use mobile devices (e.g. tablets and smart
phones) while watching TV. In this paper, we exploit the context information
available from the ubiquitous mobile devices to detect the presence of TVs and
track the media being viewed. Our approach leverages the array of sensors
available in modern mobile devices, e.g. cameras and microphones, to detect the
location of TV sets, their state (ON or OFF), and the channels they are
currently tuned to. We present the feasibility of the proposed sensing
technique using our implementation on Android phones with different realistic
scenarios. Our results show that in a controlled environment a detection
accuracy of 0.978 F-measure could be achieved.Comment: 4 pages, 14 figure
A Mediation Framework for Mobile Web Service Provisioning
Web Services and mobile data services are the newest trends in information
systems engineering in wired and wireless domains, respectively. Web Services
have a broad range of service distributions while mobile phones have large and
expanding user base. To address the confluence of Web Services and pervasive
mobile devices and communication environments, a basic mobile Web Service
provider was developed for smart phones. The performance of this Mobile Host
was also analyzed in detail. Further analysis of the Mobile Host to provide
proper QoS and to check Mobile Host's feasibility in the P2P networks,
identified the necessity of a mediation framework. The paper describes the
research conducted with the Mobile Host, identifies the tasks of the mediation
framework and then discusses the feasible realization details of such a mobile
