Characterization of Internet Traffic in UUM Wireless Networks

    Get PDF
The development in communication technology and the propagation of mobile devices, lightweight, with built-in, high-speed radio access in wireless are making wireless access to the Internet the popular situation rather than a wire line. Whereas, the growth of the wireless network with additional mobile devices in the UUM and increasing number of users led to slow wireless connection. Therefore, understanding the behavior of traffic analysis helps us to develop, manage WLAN technology, and deploy. It help us to apply our workload analysis results to issues in wireless network deployment, such as capacity planning, and potential network optimizations, such as algorithms for load balancing across multiple Access Points (APs) in a wireless network. The trace composes of two parts: firstly, one that connects to the core switch in computer center which is connected with the distribution switches that link the Access Point (APs) with the wireless network at campus, and secondly, another one for the measurement of bulk data transfers and interactive data exchange between two nodes in UUM library, which had been initiated at that time. This thesis investigates the performance network and users' behavior in UUM wireless network

Article submitted the results of the analysis of the use of mobile devices in education. The substantiation of the definition of user mobility in the Internet space, taking into account the variability of mobile devices and communications. The use of mobile devices in the educational process is based on the paradigm of open and equal access to quality education. Considered the technology of using different types of devices and their functions . The conditions of user mobility in the internet environment, the factors influencing it, the creation and storage of mobile communications resources . Provided with basic mathematical model of user behavior in a virtual network. A model of migration as a user from device to device , and its geographic move , and then use the resulting model for the design of distance learning systems . Preliminary forecasts have been made on the development of education in the transition from the remote technology to open. It is assumed the appearance of new types of personal devices that will combine the power of a desktop PC and the autonomy of smartphones with constant access for broadband wireless connection to the Internet. The use of cloud technology to store and process information resources training helps centralize and synchronize data and access to them from different devices

Indonesia became the sixth largest internet user country in 2014, and the country with the highest growth of internet users in 2016. At the end of 2018, internet users in Indonesia are categorized as heavy internet users, with more than 5GB data consumption per month only for internet connections via mobile devices. The question "what is the fast internet to use for?", Which was submitted by one of the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Information, should be an afterthought. UINSA Surabaya research states that internet use in Indonesia tends to be unproductive. This study aims to describe the behavior of internet access by user groups more specifically from previous research, namely the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) young workforce in the border region. By applying Uses and Gratification Theory (UGT), in addition to discussing user profiles of research subjects, the research also focuses on behavioral analysis with research objects in the form of a number of accounts, duration of access, access time, access devices and access needs. The study found that on average a user has 5.10 accounts on the internet for various purposes, most users access the internet for 2 to 4 hours per day (37.34%), most choose to access the internet at 20.01-00.0 (28.46%), generally accessing the internet using smartphones / cellular phones (68.86%), and dominant access is for entertainment/gaming purposes (33.88%)

Exploring Cultural Identity: Learning Culture Through Effective Interactive Design

    Get PDF
Culture defines groups of individuals by language, religion, art, or tools. In today\u27s ever growing sector of computers, smart phones, and tablets, mobile technology is used as a means to discover a sense of individuality through wireless devices and essentially the Internet. This is a case study on how to design a better educational app designed to teach culture through visual exploration and user testing. This thesis also explores how design affects behavior through usability. Through an analysis of interdisciplinary subjects, Exploring Cultural Identity aims to provide a visual prototype to teach culture, specifically focusing on Korean art. The goal is to provide foreign-born adoptees and second-generation U.S. children (and anyone interested in learning a different culture) an easy-to-access resource that explores culture through a series of apps

Digital Video Generation and Their Viewing Habits: The Death of Television News?

Following the changing media content consumptions patterns of today’s youth – rise of social media as a primary news source; mobile internet access; binge watching; transfer onto content streaming services etc. – it is not hard to predict the death of television as a news source in foreseeable future. In this paper we combine audience behavior research of viewing habits of Generations Y and Z with content analysis of the among them most popular news podcasts from the use and gratification perspective. The intention of our research is to explore the future of both television as a medium and television news as a media format and to do so we extrapolate statistical data provided by both research methods to define new format and broadcast (in the broadest sense) standards that are attractive and engaging to our target population: the television news consumers of the future
