Location-based variability for mobile information systems
Advances in size, power, and ubiquity of computing technology, sensors, and communication technology made possible the development of so-called mobile or nomadic information systems. A mobile information system has the potential to autonomously change its behaviour according to different location settings. Variability of location and system behaviour is a central feature of such new generation of information systems. This paper stresses the importance of modeling and analyzing variability of location as a basis for variability of software. We describe graphical and formal techniques to model location information, show their usage in conjunction with the goal-oriented framework i*/Tropos, and propose three analysis techniques on location-based goal models
Malware detection techniques for mobile devices
Mobile devices have become very popular nowadays, due to its portability and
high performance, a mobile device became a must device for persons using
information and communication technologies. In addition to hardware rapid
evolution, mobile applications are also increasing in their complexity and
performance to cover most needs of their users. Both software and hardware
design focused on increasing performance and the working hours of a mobile
device. Different mobile operating systems are being used today with different
platforms and different market shares. Like all information systems, mobile
systems are prone to malware attacks. Due to the personality feature of mobile
devices, malware detection is very important and is a must tool in each device
to protect private data and mitigate attacks. In this paper, analysis of
different malware detection techniques used for mobile operating systems is
provides. The focus of the analysis will be on the to two competing mobile
operating systems - Android and iOS. Finally, an assessment of each technique
and a summary of its advantages and disadvantages is provided. The aim of the
work is to establish a basis for developing a mobile malware detection tool

Modeling and analyzing variability for mobile information systems

Variability of location and system behavior is a central issue in mobile information systems, where behavior of software has to change and re-adapt to the different location settings. This paper concerns modeling and analysis of the complementary relation between software and location variability. We use graphical and formal location modeling techniques, show how to elicit and use location model in conjunction with Tropos goal-oriented framework, and introduce automated analysis on the location-based models.
Travel recommendations in a mobile tourist information system
An advanced mobile tourist information system delivers information about sights and events on a tourists travel route. The system should be personalized in its interaction with the tourist. Data that can be used for personalization are: the tourists interest profile, an analysis of their travel history, and the tourists feedback about sights. Existing mobile information systems for tourists do not tailor their information delivery to the tourists interests. In this paper, we propose the use of personalised recommendations that consider all of the personal information a tourist provides. We adopt and modify techniques from recommended systems to the new application area of mobile tourist information. We propose a number of methods for personalised recommendations; and select a subset of these for implementation. Enabling pervasive computing with smart phones
The authors discuss their experience with a number of mobile telephony projects carried out in the context of the European Union Information Society Technologies research program, which aims to develop mobile information services. They identify areas where use of smart phones can enable pervasive computing and offer practical advice in terms of lessons learned. To this end, they first look at the mobile telephone as * the end point of a mobile information service,* the control device for ubiquitous systems management and configuration,* the networking hub for personal and body area networks, and* identification tokens.They conclude with a discussion of business and practical issues that play a significant role in deploying research systems in realistic situations

agricultural systems. These are just beginning to spread in the Hungarian agrifood sector. The possibility
of using for agribusiness of mobile internet and mobile tools is increasing. Mobile tools are really suitable
for tasks like inspecting the evolution of prices of agricultural products. One of our application
development is a mobile extension to access the Market Price Information System run by the Hungarian
Agricultural Economics Research Institute. The accessibility of information demanded by market actors
can be ensured effectively by using mobile tools. The biggest limitation for PDA is screen size. If it is
getting smaller from full screen to PDA-sized and yet further to mobile phone dimensions, user
performance drops. The main reason for this is that smaller screens make it more difficult for a user to
make good judgements about the usefulness of any particular information. The development methods and
tools help us to solve one part of these problems
