    Mapping Big Data into Knowledge Space with Cognitive Cyber-Infrastructure

    Big data research has attracted great attention in science, technology, industry and society. It is developing with the evolving scientific paradigm, the fourth industrial revolution, and the transformational innovation of technologies. However, its nature and fundamental challenge have not been recognized, and its own methodology has not been formed. This paper explores and answers the following questions: What is big data? What are the basic methods for representing, managing and analyzing big data? What is the relationship between big data and knowledge? Can we find a mapping from big data into knowledge space? What kind of infrastructure is required to support not only big data management and analysis but also knowledge discovery, sharing and management? What is the relationship between big data and science paradigm? What is the nature and fundamental challenge of big data computing? La mayor parte de esta información se encuentra accesible en texto, siendo el ser humano el principal usuario de la Web. Sin embargo, a pesar de todos los avances producidos en el área del procesamiento del lenguaje natural, los ordenadores tienen problemas para procesar esta información textual. En este cotexto, existen dominios de aplicación en los que se están publicando grandes cantidades de información disponible como datos estructurados como en el área de las Ciencias de la Vida. El análisis de estos datos es de vital importancia no sólo para el avance de la ciencia, sino para producir avances en el ámbito de la salud. Sin embargo, estos datos están localizados en diferentes repositorios y almacenados en diferentes formatos que hacen difícil su integración. En este contexto, el paradigma de los Datos Vinculados como una tecnología que incluye la aplicación de algunos estándares propuestos por la comunidad W3C tales como HTTP URIs, los estándares RDF y OWL. Haciendo uso de esta tecnología, se ha desarrollado esta tesis doctoral basada en cubrir los siguientes objetivos principales: 1) promover el uso de los datos vinculados por parte de la comunidad de usuarios del ámbito de las Ciencias de la Vida 2) facilitar el diseño de consultas SPARQL mediante el descubrimiento del modelo subyacente en los repositorios RDF 3) crear un entorno colaborativo que facilite el consumo de Datos Vinculados por usuarios finales, 4) desarrollar un algoritmo que, de forma automática, permita descubrir el modelo semántico en OWL de un repositorio RDF, 5) desarrollar una representación en OWL de ICD-10-CM llamada Dione que ofrezca una metodología automática para la clasificación de enfermedades de pacientes y su posterior validación haciendo uso de un razonador OWL

    Development of an ontology for aerospace engine components degradation in service

    This paper presents the development of an ontology for component service degradation. In this paper, degradation mechanisms in gas turbine metallic components are used for a case study to explain how a taxonomy within an ontology can be validated. The validation method used in this paper uses an iterative process and sanity checks. Data extracted from on-demand textual information are filtered and grouped into classes of degradation mechanisms. Various concepts are systematically and hierarchically arranged for use in the service maintenance ontology. The allocation of the mechanisms to the AS-IS ontology presents a robust data collection hub. Data integrity is guaranteed when the TO-BE ontology is introduced to analyse processes relative to various failure events. The initial evaluation reveals improvement in the performance of the TO-BE domain ontology based on iterations and updates with recognised mechanisms. The information extracted and collected is required to improve service k nowledge and performance feedback which are important for service engineers.     A Practical and Empirical Comparison of Three Topic Modeling Methods Using a COVID-19 Corpus: LSA, LDA, and Top2Vec

    This study was prepared as a practical guide for researchers interested in using topic modeling methodologies. This study is specially designed for those with difficulty determining which methodology to use. Many topic modeling methods have been developed since the 1980s namely, latent semantic indexing or analysis (LSI/LSA), probabilistic LSI/LSA (pLSI/pLSA), naïve Bayes, the Author-Recipient-Topic (ART), Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA), Topic Over Time (TOT), Dynamic Topic Models (DTM), Word2Vec, Top2Vec, and \variation and combination of these techniques. Researchers from disciplines other than computer science may find it challenging to select a topic modeling methodology. We compared a recently developed topic modeling algorithm Top2Vec with two of the most conventional and frequently-used methodologiesLSA and LDA. As a study sample, we used a corpus of 65,292 COVID-19-focused abstracts. Among the 11 topics we identified in each methodology, we found high levels of correlation between LDA and Top2Vec results, followed by LSA and LDA and Top2Vec and LSA. We also provided information on computational resources we used to perform the analyses and provided practical guidelines and recommendations for researchers

    Healthcare services managers: what information do they need and use?

    Objectives: To gain insight into the information behaviour of healthcare services managers as they draw on information while engaged in decision making unrelated to individual patient care. Objectives – The purpose of this research project was to gain insight into the information behaviour of healthcare services managers as they use information while engaged in decision-making unrelated to individual patient care. Methods – This small-scale, exploratory, multiple case study used the critical incident technique in nineteen semi-structured interviews. Responses were analyzed using ‘Framework,’ a matrix-based content analysis system. Results – This paper presents findings related to the internal information that healthcare services managers need and use. Their decisions are influenced by a wide variety of factors. They must often make decisions without all of the information they would prefer to have. Internal information and practical experience set the context for new research-based information, so they are generally considered first. Conclusions – Healthcare services managers support decisions with both facts and value-based information. These results may inform both delivery of health library services delivery and strategic health information management planning. They may also support librarians who extend their skills beyond managing library collections and teaching published information retrieval skills, to managing internal and external information, teaching information literacy, and supporting information sharing

Now a day's Clinical decision support system is a dynamic research area in the field of computer, but the lack of the knowledge of the understanding as well as the functioning of the system ,make the adoption slow by the physician and patient. The literature review of this paper will focus on the overview of legacy CDSS, the kind of methodologies and classifier employed to prepare such decision support system using a non-technical approach to the physician and the strategy- makers . This study will provide the scope of understanding the clinical decision support along with the gateway to physician ,policy-makers to develop and deploy the decision support system as a healthcare service to make the quick, agile and right decision. Future direction to handle the uncertainties along with the challenges of clinical decision support system are also enlightened in this study
