    Exploratory study to explore the role of ICT in the process of knowledge management in an Indian business environment

    In the 21st century and the emergence of a digital economy, knowledge and the knowledge base economy are rapidly growing. To effectively be able to understand the processes involved in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge management in the business environment is critical to the success of an organization. This study builds on the previous research of the authors on the enablers of knowledge management by identifying the relationship between the enablers of knowledge management and the role played by information communication technologies (ICT) and ICT infrastructure in a business setting. This paper provides the findings of a survey collected from the four major Indian cities (Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai and Villupuram) regarding their views and opinions about the enablers of knowledge management in business setting. A total of 80 organizations participated in the study with 100 participants in each city. The results show that ICT and ICT infrastructure can play a critical role in the creating, managing and sharing of knowledge in an Indian business environment

    An improved chaos method for monitoring the depth of anaesthesia

    This paper proposed a new method to monitor the depth of anaesthesia (DoA) by modifying the Hurst parameters in Chaos method. Two new indices (CDoA and CsDoA) are proposed to estimate the anaesthesia states of patients. In order to reduce the fluctuation of CDoA and CsDoA trends, the Chaos and Modified Detrended Average methods (C-MDMA) are combined together. Compared with Bispectrum (BIS) index, CDoA, the CsDoA and C-MDMA trends are close to the BIS trend in the whole scale from 100 to 0 with a full recording time

    Employees on social media: A multi-spokespeople model of CSR communication

    Increasing societal and stakeholder expectations, along with easy access to information through social media, means corporations are asked for more information. The traditional approach to CSR communication, with corporations controlling what and how much to share with stakeholders has been restructured by social media, with stakeholders taking control. As legitimacy on social media is created through the positive and negative judgements of stakeholders, corporations must plan how to meet stakeholder demands for information effectively and legitimately, and this includes choosing appropriate spokespeople. Corporations in India have now turned towards their employees as CSR spokespeople. By encouraging employee activity on social media, these corporations are attempting to meet stakeholder demands and generate legitimacy through spokespeople whom stakeholders perceive as equals. This article examines that strategy and discusses its viability of using employees as spokespeople for CSR communication and engagement with stakeholder

    The contemporary Assamese plays have developed as a result of numerous interwoven influences and channels. And it is clear that western influences were what shaped the Assamese plays into their perfection. After independence, Assamese writers of prose, poetry, and theatre, produced works that were on pace with the period. It demonstrated identical compositional experimentation and sociological analysis. The Assamese plays exhibit a strong western heritage from playwrights like Ibsen, Shaw, Beckett, and other absurd dramatists. A few dramatists, like Dr. Arun Sarma, Ratna Ojha, and Himendrakumar Borthakur made reflections of works of Lonesco and Beckett and despite the fact the impact of absurd dramas was not very common. In this article, the researcher investigated the works of the most renowned and esteemed Assamese playwright, Dr. Arun Sarma (1964), to emphasize the distinguishing components and similarities of Shri Nibaran Bhattacharya and Aahaar with those of absurd dramatic tropes. The researcher discovered, using the comparative technique of analysis, that, despite frequent assertions to the contrary, Aahaar has much in common with the absurdist movement, whereas Shri Nibaran Bhattacharya cannot be regarded as a fully-fledged absurd drama

    IoT enabled intelligent stick for visually impaired people for obstacle recognition

    Producción CientíficaThis paper presents the design, development, and testing of an IoT-enabled smart stick for visually impaired people to navigate the outside environment with the ability to detect and warn about obstacles. The proposed design employs ultrasonic sensors for obstacle detection, a water sensor for sensing the puddles and wet surfaces in the user’s path, and a high-definition video camera integrated with object recognition. Furthermore, the user is signaled about various hindrances and objects using voice feedback through earphones after accurately detecting and identifying objects. The proposed smart stick has two modes; one uses ultrasonic sensors for detection and feedback through vibration motors to inform about the direction of the obstacle, and the second mode is the detection and recognition of obstacles and providing voice feedback. The proposed system allows for switching between the two modes depending on the environment and personal preference. Moreover, the latitude/longitude values of the user are captured and uploaded to the IoT platform for effective tracking via global positioning system (GPS)/global system for mobile communication (GSM) modules, which enable the live location of the user/stick to be monitored on the IoT dashboard. A panic button is also provided for emergency assistance by generating a request signal in the form of an SMS containing a Google maps link generated with latitude and longitude coordinates and sent through an IoT-enabled environment. The smart stick has been designed to be lightweight, waterproof, size adjustable, and has long battery life.     A geolocation-aware mobile crowdsourcing solution for the emergency supply of oxygen cylinders

Emergency medical oxygen cylinders are commonly used as first aid kits to prevent strokes during chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) / asthma attacks. In this paper, we propose a geolocation-aware mobile crowdsourcing solution for the emergency supply of oxygen cylinders to patients suffering from sudden breathing difficulties. The proposed crowdsourcing solution leverages the proliferation of mobile devices to connect requestors of emergency oxygen cylinders with potential suppliers from the crowd during crises. We describe the design process of the system, its technical implementation details, key features. We also discuss some of the encountered challenges and summarize the actions taken to address them
