    Ringing campaigns indicate that Marmora’s warbler Sylvia [sarda] sarda is a scarce but regular spring migrant on Aire island, Menorca (Balearic Islands). We cite the first ringing captures for Spain of the Marmora’s Warbler Sylvia [sarda] sarda. A total of 9 birds have been captured during the spring ringing campaign conducted in the Aire island (Menorca, Balearic islands) between 1993 and 2011 as part of the Piccole Isole project. the species was captured in 7 of the 19 study years (37 % of years) and in all years (n = 3) with coverage for the second half of March. these results indicate the Marmora’s Warbler to be a rare but regular spring migrant in Menorca

    Although environmental noise from entertainment and leisure activities is causing a growing number of complaints from EU population, this noise issue is not covered by the current EU initiatives on environmental noise management. This noise problem is difficult to tackle strategically and technically ‚Äď no specific standards have yet been established for measurements, methods and indicators, and the practical remedies are still limited. This paper reviews nightlife noise and more specifically how the presence of tourists influences the variation of the noise. Several case studies were conducted in some Spanish locations by the seasonal tourist incursion, mainly in the summer months. Variations in the nightlife noise in recreational zones during the weekends and ‚Äúworking days‚ÄĚ are compared. This research also discusses data from different years and seasonal periods and reinforced with data obtained through surveys specifically designed for foreign tourists. These surveys reveal practical information about how tourists perceive noise, and their behaviour and reactions to it. Those data could be useful for Environmental Noise Authorities to develop noise action plans, as recreational noise is a source not considered when noise mapping by means of using simulation techniques

Results of the mycological prospections made in Menorca from 1980 to 1988, presented as a catalogue.     Impact of climate change on wave energy resource: the case of Menorca (Spain)

    The aim of this paper was to analyse how changes in wave patterns, due to the effect of climate change, can affect wave energy power and yield around Menorca (NW Mediterranean Sea). The present and future wave energy conditions were derived from recently developed high-resolution wave projections in the NW Mediterranean. These wave projections were forced by surface wind fields obtained, respectively, by 5 different combinations of global and regional circulation models (GCMs and RCMs) for the A1B scenario. The results showed that the projected future spatial and directional distributions of wave energy are very similar to those of the present conditions. The multi-model ensemble average illustrated a slight general decrease in the annual and seasonal wave power (except for summer). However, the inter-model variability is large since two models showed opposite trends to the other 3 in most cases. Such inter-model variability is lower(higher) for winter(autumn). Another result is the reduction of the temporal variability in the future, considering both the multi-model mean and each single model projection. Such a decrease is consistent with the future seasonal redistribution of energy throughout the year. This would entail an increase in the efficiency of wave energy converters deployed in this area due to the more regular temporal distribution of the energy.Peer ReviewedPostprint (author's final draft
