Nowadays, there is a great variety of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs) offered by different providers such as MiriadaX, Coursera, or edX. They are materialized using different elements (talks like TEDx, digital textbooks or educational TV programs), which are designed and developed by an instructor as part of a series of digital videos. Videos are then made available to the students that will access them. However, the ideal situation is that MOOCs motivate collaboration processes involving both teachers and students, who participate in the design of the courses so that they can more effectively use these courses. To achieve this, the challenge is to incorporate collaboration aspects into MOOCs. This is not an easy task because it requires the design and organization of activities that motivate the collaboration among participants. Likewise, the motivational aspects are necessary to avoid courses dropout and favor learning. To this end, it is important to consider some gamification techniques that might be determinant to motivate learning. In this line, the proposal is the inclusion of collaboration and gamification techniques during MOOCs planning, design, implementation and use.

[EN]One of the main concerns affecting societies worldwide revolves around the theme of energy and sustainability. Like any biological organism, nations require to pay attention to this component to live, develop and grow. In response to this need, an increasing technological development has taken place in the last decades to change the use and production of conventional energy for clean and sustainable energy. The processes to transform the conventional clean and sustainable energy have brought changes that have affected the political, social, economic and educational sectors. Such is the case of Mexico. Some experts have considered that the energy reform (both in the hydrocarbons sector as well as in the electricity sector) has been one of the most critical changes in the country for the last 70 years, due to its implications in the economic, political, social, and educational sectors. One the actions taken was the strategic training program of human resources around energy themes was the creation of 135 thousand direct jobs and 365 thousand indirect jobs within the energy sector. In this sense, Mexico is under a profound reform towards the use of new technologies and specialized trainning. Additionally, this reform requires citizens to understand the energy reform and its implications to serve with more efficient administrative processes derived from this reform, as well as to develop business opportunities. At the same time, it is important that society in general meet the need and the implications of the energy reform so that the change process flow in the best possible harmony. In this sense, and given the urgent need to massively education in terms of the energy reform, as well as on issues of energy and sustainability, the project "bi-national laboratory for intelligent management of energy sustainability” as well as its" Technological training program” was launched in 2016 with the purpose to set a world class competitive sector. The project involved the Mexican Secretary of Energy, the National Council of Science and Technology, and the Tecnologico de Monterrey as an educational entity. The project consists of thirteen sub-projects, one of them corresponds to the open, interdisciplinary, and collaborative innovation to teach about sustainable energy through massive, open and courses (MOOCs). This sub-project have definetly impacted the academic, business and social communities of Mexico, raising awareness of the need for an energy reform, as well as the sustainable energy options. To meet this goal, there were twelve MOOC courses, but only one of them: conventional energies, clean and its technology was used for the purposes of the present research. Within the MOOC design goals was to include innovative teaching strategies such as the gamification in order to promote the motivation and learning of the participants. So, focused on the strategy of Gamification challenges and its relation with the variable partner-based demographic and academic, with the purpose of creating a model that can be transferable in the design, development and implementation of this, or other strategies teaching in open innovation, as the MOOC environments. To meet the objectives of the research, it was decided to develop a theoretical framework formed by the constructs: open, interdisciplinary, and collaborative innovation the MOOC as environments of open innovation and the role of the Gamification in education. Likewise, we opted for a mixed method approach, with a predominance of quantitative methods (QUAN-Qual). During the course Conventional energies, clean and its technology, 4819 students were enrolled and it was carried out with a sample of 1209, which corresponded to the participants who at least made an activity during the course. The instruments and strategies for data collection consisted of questionnaires, interviews, meaningful analysis of the alternative responses to the challenge gamificated by students and the analyses of the course. As a result of the research, proposes a model for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of innovative teaching strategies, such as the gamification, in environments of open innovation (MOOCs). Which aims to give a contribution to scientific knowledge, in such a way that a point of reference for the development of architecture teaching in this type of educational environment

The objective of this article is to analyze the formal characteristics of MOOC in Spain which potential users of such courses have to face at the «Zero Moment Of Truth», i.e., in the moments they make the decision to enroll. Most of the research on MOOC have focused on the learning generated, the rate of dropouts and MOOC’ relations with formal education. Our study makes no explicit reference to the content of the MOOC, or the percentage of those who complete them, but to those who start them and why they come to do so. We part from the hypothesis that too little attention is paid to web design and audiovisual content in the presentation of the courses in Spain, despite their great influence on the time when users decide whether to register or not. In this study we have used content analysis qualitative research technique to test this hypothesis. We selected a total of 109 MOOC and analyzed them with three categories of rhetoric variables: the informative category, aesthetics and credibility. Among other findings, we discovered that Spanish MOOC offer a fairly comprehensive information to potential students, but that they can improve their aesthetics and the elements that contribute to its credibility. The conclusions we reach point out that, whether it is intended to obtain economic benefit from the MOOC, as if these free courses were used simply to advertise the organizing institutions and improve their image, it is not enough to offer quality contents.peerReviewe

Critical analysis of the term «massive» in the MOOC: a Conceptual Cartography

The original model of Massive Open Online Courses - MOOC - has been diversified widely and deeply in a short time. The transformation has been such that it is difficult to recognize in the new models of MOOC the precepts of gratuity, openness and massiveness, which characterized the original model. The aim of this documentary research was to analyze the factors that caused this transformation. The Conceptual Cartography method was applied, which is a critical analysis procedure in four phases: 1) Search for documents relevant to the research problem; 2) Definition of criteria for inclusion and exclusion of documents; 3) Data analysis with seven categories (Historical development, Notion, Characterization, Categorization, Differentiation, Classification and Linkage); 4) Interpretation of the results from the educational perspective of e-learning. The main finding suggests that the term "massive" refers only to the capacity that digital technology has to enroll massively, but it is not an educational term. In fact, the term "massive" is contradictory with the educational principles of e-learning, which encourages the design of virtual and personal learning environments. The diversification of the original model of MOOC is a result of the development of educational criteria to promote the personalization of learning

The incorporation of gamification into Programming courses has been identified as a potential strategy that could maximize student participation and have a positive impact on learning. To our knowledge, there is no study aimed at collecting and analyzing research results on this subject using a systematic method. To fill this gap, a systematic mapping of literature was carried out with the aim of summarizing the studies on the use of gamification as a didactic strategy for teaching/learning of Programming. Initially, through the search in four (4) digital libraries, 186 studies were obtained. Then, after a careful analysis of each of them, we verify that only 78 match our needs. Finally, we have categorized the contributions of these studies to present an overview of the results produced by the research community.

Se concluye la relevancia del estudio de la producción científica para establecer colaboraciones entre investigadores y desarrollar nuevas líneas de investigación sobre los MOOC´s.Hybrid models and online education are becoming more prevalent in the university context, with MOOCs being a resource with potential for the development of training processes and for working on academic content. Focusing on the publications on MOOCs in higher education by researchers affiliated with Spanish institutions, this study aims to analyse, through a bibliometric approach, the scientific production on MOOCs and universities in Scopus. The final sample is composed by 120 articles published between 2014 and 2020, to which different bibliometric techniques (bibliographic coupling, co-authorship, co-citation, co-occurrence) are applied. The results show that the scientific production is in continuous development, with higher indexation in the areas of social sciences and computer science. The UNED and the Pablo de Olavide University stand out in terms of number of articles, although the most prolific collaborative network is generated around researchers from the Carlos III University in Madrid. The most influential publications focus on the possibilities of MOOCs for the development of hybrid educational models, and on how this resource affects performance and motivation. Among the future lines of development, the incorporation of methodologies such as gamification or flipped classroom to the development of MOOCs stands out, also with the role that this resource can play in an increasingly common e-Learning training. It concludes the relevance of the study of scientific production to establish collaborations between researchers and develop new lines of research on MOOCs
