Nowadays, the Information Communication Technology has pervaded literally the companies. In the company circulates an huge amount of information but too much information doesn’t provide any added value. The overload of information exceeds individual processing capacity and slowdowns decision making operations. We must transform the enormous quantity of information in useful knowledge taking in consideration that information becomes obsolete quickly in condition of dynamic market. Companies process this information by specific software for managing, efficiently and effectively, the business processes. In this paper we analyse the myriad of acronyms of software that is used in enterprises with the changes that occurred over the time, from production to decision making until to convergence in an intelligent modular enterprise software, that we named Business Manufacturing Intelligence (BMI), that will manage and support the enterprise in the futurebusiness manufacturing intelligence, enterprise resource planning; business intelligence; management software; automation software; decision making software

Discovering Business Models for Software Process Management - An Approach for Integrating Time and Resource Perspectives from Legacy Information Systems

    Get PDF
Business Process Management (BPM) is becoming the modern core to support business in all type of organizations and software business is not an exception. Software companies are often involved in important and complex collaborative projects carried out by many stakeholders. Each actor (customers, suppliers or government instances, among others) works with individual and shared processes. Everyone needs dynamic and evolving approaches for managing their software projects lifecycle. Nevertheless, many companies still use systems that are out of the scope of BPM for planning and control projects and managing enterprise content (Enterprise Content Management, ECM) as well as all kinds of resources (ERP). Somehow systems include scattered artifacts that are related to BPM perspectives: control and data flow, time, resource and case, for example. It is aimed to get interoperable BPM models from these classical Legacy Information Systems (LIS). Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) allows going from application code to higher-level of abstraction models. Particularly, there are standards and proposals for reverse engineering LIS. This paper illustrates LIS cases for software project planning and ECM, looking at time and resource perspectives. To conclude, we will propose a MDE-based approach for taking out business models in the context of software process management.Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad TIN2013-46928-C3-3-

Master of ScienceDepartment of Computing and Information SciencesGurdip SinghDeveloping an optimal working environment and managing the of work load in an efficient manner are the major challenges for most businesses today. So, the importance of the workflow and workflow management in an organization is unquestionable. Many organizations use sophisticated systems to organize the workflows. One such workflow system based on a concise and powerful modeling language called “Yet Another Workflow Language” is YAWL. YAWL handles complex data, transformations, integration with organizational resources and Web Service integration. Workflow comprises of three main perspectives: control-flow, data and the resources. In Yawl, the control-flow and the data-flow are tightly coupled within the workflow enactment engine. But the resource perspective is provided by a discrete custom service called Resource Service. Administrative tools are provided using which the administrator has to manually select the resource (referred as participant) which needs to perform a particular task of the workflow. This project aims at developing a service which can automate the assignment of the tasks to the participants by using the Resource service which provides number of interfaces that expose the full functionality of the service. The application of this project with respect to Healthcare domain is presented. Healthcare domain is the one of the most demanding and yet critical business process. Hospitals face increasing pressure to both improve the quality of the services delivered to patients and to reduce costs .Hence there is significant demand on hospitals in regard to how the organization, execution, and monitoring of work processes is performed. Workflow Management Systems like YAWL offers a potential solution as they support processes by managing the flow of work

The possibilities of using regional statistics at the level of territorial communities as a new direction in forming information resources to assess social and economic processes are highlighted. The main problem aspects of statistics and financial reporting in the system of territorial accounting as the basis of information resources of a community are determined. The range of issues requiring solutions to ensure information support for managing territorial communities is outlined, in particular those concerning the preparation of statistical reporting and formation of indicators of community development based on the financial reporting of economic entities. It is noted that the development of a territorial community is subject to statistical and financial reporting, and information resources for its assessment can be obtained through reporting indicators of activities of formalized structural elements, such as government, business, social institutions, public organizations, and political parties. Organizational models to form an information base for managing the development of territorial communities are proposed. It is argued that statistics at the level of territorial communities should be an integral part of statistical observations carried out by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine

The use of the cost of managing the economic entities by managers is an action of primary interest. Given the current economy, marked by globalization and increasing competition through the use of modern technologies, knowledge of management techniques through the use of cost information is a necessity. In order to optimize the link between management accounting and business management, managers need to develop their conceptual and methodological costs. Management may influence the size of a cost only if it manages to have accurate and timely information on the cause, value and consequences of its recording. The control of economic operations, economic processes and business sectors and implicitly of costs is a management priority, the latter being a desiderate pursued by managers at all levels of the hierarchy pyramid. Based on these considerations, the objective of the paper starts from the link between accounting and management, management accounting progressively evolving from the role of recording information on costing to informational support in management decision-making. Thus, providing cost information in the shortest possible time to substantiate managerial decisions allows the establishment of medium and long-term strategies that have as their starting point management accounting reports. This information represents the resource for the production process database and forms the support of the decision-making system, providing managers with cost-based options for setting the objectives, resources and resources needed to conduct the business

Cadastral Systems Re-engineering in Urban Zimbabwe

Land is undoubtedly the most important resource in any country as it contributes to economic  development. The cadastre is a component of the land administration system (LAS) that is crucial for  managing land. It is thus of importance for a nation to have both a functional cadastral system for  determining parcel boundaries and a functional cadastral information system, for managing the land  parcels. The cadastral survey system and cadastre in Zimbabwe are largely manual with even the  lodgement of completed surveys for examination and approval still analogue. This has an impact on the  time it takes to complete a land transaction. Land can ideally drive the economy yet part of the value is  lost due to lengthy land transaction procedures. The land administration system is supposed to consist of value adding processes in which several actors interact in a workflow which creates new or transfers parcels. This workflow is associated with transaction costs, part of which can be employed for  maintenance of the cadastral information system. This article presents business processes for the land development process in Zimbabwe but focusing on City of Gweru (CoG) and City of Mutare (CoM)  municipalities as the major organisations under study. Municipalities in Zimbabwe are governed by the Regional Town and Country Planning Act, so such a single process and workflow model can fit into the cadastral information system of all municipalities in Zimbabwe with insignificant changes. The broader scope of this study is towards the design of a conceptual schema for automating the land administration system and particularly, the cadastre component, for municipalities in Zimbabwe. This study presents the workflows for the current land development system with CoG and CoM as the current focal points. Information on current automation efforts or reforms by other major municipalities to include Bulawayo, Kadoma and Kariba is also presented. The overall theme of this paper is to discuss cadastral reform through automation of cadastral processes in municipalities
