Enhancing the learning environment using classroom response systems
Classroom response systems (CRS) offer a management tool for engaging students in the classroom. These systems have been used in a variety of fields and at all levels of education. Typical goals of CRS questions are discussed, as well as the advantages to both students and instructors as a result of using them. These systems are especially valuable as a means of introducing and monitoring peer
learning methods in the large lecture classroom. But the efficacy of using these systems depends strongly on the quality of the questions used. The integration of a CRS in an introductory physics module is discussed along with examples of questions used and the student assessment carried out

Christian Approach to Secondary Classroom Management
Teachers at all levels of experience and education find that classroom management is one of the most difficult aspects of the job. This seems especially true for teachers in the secondary classroom where the student’s physical and psychological development seems to be mismatched, and where an attitude of student disillusionment prevails. Since all educators manage their classrooms with some sort of belief system motivating their actions and decisions, it is important for the Christian classroom teacher to closely examine the belief systems which influence current classroom management theories to determine if these belief systems are congruent with a Biblical view of the child and of the role of teacher. This thesis examines prominent belief systems and weighs them against a Christian worldview. Several ideas are proposed for the Christian educator to use in successfully managing a secondary classroom
APPROACHES IN DESIGNING EFFECTIVE CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: A COMPARATIVE STUDY
The research is intended to determine the best approach to managing classrooms. There are discussions regarding the comparison of approaches that have proven effective in designing effective classroom management. Student achievement could not be separated from a successful classroom management system. The learning environment in the class is based on how well teachers build effective classroom management systems. It leads to the students’ well-being in the learning process. In order to achieve a successful classroom management system, teachers tend to apply different approaches. There are some studies that deal with the application of these approaches in the process of creating such an effective classroom management system. Two of them are the behavior modification approach and the analytical pluralistic approach. This research is completed by using quantitative approach. The findings lead to the conclusion that certain approaches have proven better through this experimental research. At the end of the research, readers might benefit by taking the result of this research as a reference in their daily teaching
My Way or the Highway: The Development and Use of Behavior Management and School Discipline
Behavior management is a crucial topic in education. The management of student behavior in a classroom can affect the entire learning experience. As the needs of students and teachers change, the methods of behavior management adapt to accommodate new needs. This thesis identifies behavior management starting in the 1960’s and research determining its effectiveness. The causes of change in classroom and school-wide discipline systems are addressed, including political climates, court involvement, and tragic events within schools. The behavior management methods used in the current day are discussed. Through a review of literature and online sources, the information provided was gathered and analyzed. Little empirical research existed backing any of the topics discussed. Individual classroom and school-wide behavior plans were not often supported with data. Rather, personal opinions of teachers and administrators made up the majority of information regarding success or failure of these systems. An increase in empirical data gathered in research settings is needed to fully determine the effectiveness of behavior management methods used in classrooms and school-wide. Teacher training in research backed systems is also imperative. Teachers lacking this training struggle to provide students with a positive and effective education.Kayla SiddellHonors DiplomaHonors CollegeCunningham Memorial Library, Terre Haute, Indiana State UniversityUndergraduateTitle from document title page. Classroom Management for Teaching English at Tertiary Colleges in Bangladesh: Challenges and Solutions
The study investigates the challenges and solutions of English classroom management at tertiary level colleges in Bangladesh through the case study of X college Though the instructional strategy of tertiary colleges shifted from teacher-centered to student-centered learning still the tertiary colleges are following the traditional classroom management system For teaching English the learners are rarely asked to get engaged in a communicative exercise in the classroom However to investigate the research problem the study follows mixed method technique It finds out the learners fondness opinions learning preferences and atmosphere and lecturers instruction systems are involved as substantial for study It also investigates lecturers awareness of classroom management and their current practices regarding the issue After analysing all data collected from teachers and students as well as correlating with other literatures it is found that teachers are overlooking the realities of classroom management such as seating grouping activities teachers control over students appropriate opening and conclusion of the lesson time management keeping discipline problem management using suitable tools and methods instruction nursing etc However the study finds that learners at tertiary colleges in Bangladesh do not get the benefits of the English classroom
Creating a Positive Emotional Climate in an Elementary School Classroom
All teachers create an environment in their classrooms that sets an emotional tone for students. Teachers may find it hard to choose the right classroom management strategies to create a positive classroom climate for their students. As a result, teachers have expressed an interest in this topic for over 40 years. The purpose of this research is to identify aspects of successful classroom management systems in order to assist teachers in creating a successful learning environment and a positive emotional climate for learning. The research literature revealed that classroom management is instrumental in establishing a climate for learning that is positive for children. A negative learning environment is detrimental to students learning needs in the classroom. The present study is qualitative in design using interview protocol. Participants include elementary teachers at a school in the greater San Francisco Bay area. They form a sample of convenience. Results identified common strategies teachers could use to create a positive climate in their classroom
Digital Leadership for High School Classroom Management
We are living in an ever-increasing digitalized and computerized world. Every field of our society is affected by this kind of change. For example, financial systems, factory systems and government systems, and most of our social systems are balancing by keeping step with this digital movement. Educational systems are struggling with this digital movement. In every classroom, teachers are embarrassed with new cultural conflicts with students, and they have no ideas about how to use digital tools and software. This research was done to improve classroom management. The research is especially focused on the high school classroom, because youth aged 13-18 are well adapted to digital culture and tools. Any curriculum or teaching method should be matched with the learner’s concern and needs. Otherwise, teachers will have a problem with teaching and discipline in the classroom
The Need for Redemptive Discipline in the Christian School
Classroom management and discipline are key components in determining the success of a school. A safe, positive environment increases the potential for quality learning and complete development on the part of every student. However, the resulting behavior of those disciplined is as varied as the systems or methods employed. The aim of this paper is to provide sufficient rationale to support both the subjective probability that a significant difference exists between the recidivism rates of those who are disciplined redemptively and those disciplined punitively and the necessity to conduct future qualitative and quantitative research to validate that theoretical position
