    Get PDF
4G Wireless communication systems have the inherent capability to foster the multimedia services in terms of bandwidth and data rate. These systems have very high integrity compared to the conventional wireless communication systems. It can fully support extended multimedia services with High Definition quality, audio and video files. Wireless internet and other broad band services provided superior quality signal transmission and reception. The degree of freedom enjoyed by the technology in terms of scalability and reliability is highly commendable. Any basic wireless transmitter sends information by varying the phase of the signal. In the receiver end, the desired signal can be decoded by appropriate decoding algorithm. The degradation occurs at the conventional receivers due to lack of Channel State Information. The efficiency of 4G system purely relies on the performance of receiver and is purely dependent on the synchronization of estimated instantaneous channel. In any wireless terminal, channel state information provides the in and around status of the channel. It provides the following parameters of the propagating signal (ie) Scattering, Fading and Attenuation. The dynamic estimation of channel state information can be obtained through Enhanced Least Squares channel estimation algorithm. It is based on Multi Carrier Filter Bank Transmission system. This  kind of dynamic estimation can be done with a set of well-known sequence of  coded unique bits .For a transmitter the information propagation is initiated in the form of frame bursts. It enhances the throughput of the system to the required level

Timing and Carrier Synchronization in Wireless Communication Systems: A Survey and Classification of Research in the Last 5 Years

Timing and carrier synchronization is a fundamental requirement for any wireless communication system to work properly. Timing synchronization is the process by which a receiver node determines the correct instants of time at which to sample the incoming signal. Carrier synchronization is the process by which a receiver adapts the frequency and phase of its local carrier oscillator with those of the received signal. In this paper, we survey the literature over the last 5 years (2010–2014) and present a comprehensive literature review and classification of the recent research progress in achieving timing and carrier synchronization in single-input single-output (SISO), multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), cooperative relaying, and multiuser/multicell interference networks. Considering both single-carrier and multi-carrier communication systems, we survey and categorize the timing and carrier synchronization techniques proposed for the different communication systems focusing on the system model assumptions for synchronization, the synchronization challenges, and the state-of-the-art synchronization solutions and their limitations. Finally, we envision some future research directions

Many software based OFDM techniques were proposed from last half decade to improve the performance of the system. This paper tried to implement the same with Hardware implementation. We created Hardware based MISO platform with OFDM. We implemented Alamouti algorithm on this test bed. The test bed is implemented with the help of Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA). The test bed is functionalized with the help of FPGA through Xilinx based system generator for DSP. In this paper we considered the 2×1 MISO implementation with Alamouti algorithm. The simulation results showed that BER and SNR are considerably high for MISO than SISO. The results also proved that proposed OFDM based Alamouti implementation for MISO is excellent in all performance criterionsMany software based OFDM techniques were proposed from last half decade to improve the performance of the system. In this paper, we present a real-time implementation of an OFDM hardware platform. The platform is based on HW blocks that can be put together to configure a wireless system based on OFDM modulation. The platform can be easily upgraded to test pre-coding cooperation algorithms. We evaluate the platform to implement a diversity Alamouti 2×1 MIMO scheme wireless system. The testbed is implemented using Field- Programmable Gate Array (FPGAs) through Xilinx System Generator for DSP. Blocks for time-domain synchronization and channel estimation are key components necessary in transmission system that require good time synchronization and channel estimation for efficient demodulation

A wide range of services, such as improved mobile broadband, extensive machine-type communication, ultra-reliability, and low latency, are anticipated to be delivered via the 5G network. The 5G network has developed as a multi-layer network that uses numerous technological advancements to provide a wide array of wireless services to fulfil such a diversified set of requirements. Several technologies, including software-defined networking, network function virtualization, edge computing, cloud computing, and tiny cells, are being integrated into the 5G networks to meet the needs of various requirements. Due to the higher power consumption that will arise from such a complicated network design, energy efficiency becomes crucial. The network machine learning technique has attracted a lot of interest from the scientific community because it has the potential to play a crucial role in helping to achieve energy efficiency. Utilization factor, access latency, arrival rate, and other metrics are used to study the proposed scheme. It is determined that our system outperforms the present scheme after comparing the suggested scheme to these parameters

Doutoramento em Engenharia Eletrotécnica e TelecomunicaçõesThis work investigates new channel estimation schemes for the forthcoming and future generation of cellular systems for which cooperative techniques are regarded. The studied cooperative systems are designed to re-transmit the received information to the user terminal via the relay nodes, in order to make use of benefits such as high throughput, fairness in access and extra coverage. The cooperative scenarios rely on OFDM-based systems employing classical and pilot-based channel estimators, which were originally designed to pointto-point links. The analytical studies consider two relaying protocols, namely, the Amplifyand-Forward and the Equalise-and-Forward, both for the downlink case. The relaying channels statistics show that such channels entail specific characteristics that comply to a proper filter and equalisation designs. Therefore, adjustments in the estimation process are needed in order to obtain the relay channel estimates, refine these initial estimates via iterative processing and obtain others system parameters that are required in the equalisation. The system performance is evaluated considering standardised specifications and the International Telecommunication Union multipath channel models.
