Increasing Compression Ratio of Low Complexity Compressive Sensing Video Encoder with Application-Aware Configurable Mechanism
With the development of embedded video acquisition nodes and wireless video
surveillance systems, traditional video coding methods could not meet the needs
of less computing complexity any more, as well as the urgent power consumption.
So, a low-complexity compressive sensing video encoder framework with
application-aware configurable mechanism is proposed in this paper, where novel
encoding methods are exploited based on the practical purposes of the real
applications to reduce the coding complexity effectively and improve the
compression ratio (CR). Moreover, the group of processing (GOP) size and the
measurement matrix size can be configured on the encoder side according to the
post-analysis requirements of an application example of object tracking to
increase the CR of encoder as best as possible. Simulations show the proposed
framework of encoder could achieve 60X of CR when the tracking successful rate
(SR) is still keeping above 90%.Comment: 5 pages with 6figures and 1 table, conferenc
Demo : distributed video coding applications in wireless multimedia sensor networks
Novel distributed video coding (DVC) architectures developed by the IBBT DVC group realize state-of-the-art video coding efficiency under stringent energy restrictions, while supporting error-resilience and scalability. Therefore, these architectures are particularly attractive for application scenarios involving low-complexity energy-constrained wireless visual sensors. This demo presents the scenarios, which are considered to be the most promising areas of integration for IBBT's DVC systems, considering feasibility and commercial applicability
Low complexity video compression using moving edge detection based on DCT coefficients
In this paper, we propose a new low complexity video compression method based on detecting blocks containing moving edges us- ing only DCT coe±cients. The detection, whilst being very e±cient, also allows e±cient motion estimation by constraining the search process to moving macro-blocks only. The encoders PSNR is degraded by 2dB com- pared to H.264/AVC inter for such scenarios, whilst requiring only 5% of the execution time. The computational complexity of our approach is comparable to that of the DISCOVER codec which is the state of the art low complexity distributed video coding. The proposed method ¯nds blocks with moving edge blocks and processes only selected blocks. The approach is particularly suited to surveillance type scenarios with a static camera
Field test of multi-hop image sensing network prototype on a city-wide scale
Open Access funded by Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommuniocations Under a Creative Commons license, https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Wireless multimedia sensor network drastically stretches the horizon of traditional monitoring and surveillance systems, of which most existing research have utilised Zigbee or WiFi as the communication technology. Both technologies use ultra high frequencies (mainly 2.4 GHz) and suffer from relatively short transmission range (i.e. 100 m line-of-sight). The objective of this paper is to assess the feasibility and potential of transmitting image information using RF modules with lower frequencies (e.g. 433 MHz) in order to achieve a larger scale deployment such as a city scenario. Arduino platform is used for its low cost and simplicity. The details of hardware properties are elaborated in the article, followed by an investigation of optimum configurations for the system. Upon an initial range testing outcome of over 2000 m line-of-sight transmission distance, the prototype network has been installed in a real life city plot for further examination of performance. A range of suitable applications has been proposed along with suggestions for future research.Peer reviewe
I'm sorry to say, but your understanding of image processing fundamentals is absolutely wrong
The ongoing discussion whether modern vision systems have to be viewed as
visually-enabled cognitive systems or cognitively-enabled vision systems is
groundless, because perceptual and cognitive faculties of vision are separate
components of human (and consequently, artificial) information processing
system modeling.Comment: To be published as chapter 5 in "Frontiers in Brain, Vision and AI",
