Wave interactions in localizing media - a coin with many faces
A variety of heterogeneous potentials are capable of localizing linear
non-interacting waves. In this work, we review different examples of
heterogeneous localizing potentials which were realized in experiments. We then
discuss the impact of nonlinearity induced by wave interactions, in particular
its destructive effect on the localizing properties of the heterogeneous

A continuum treatment of growth in biological tissue: The coupling of mass transport and mechanics
Growth (and resorption) of biological tissue is formulated in the continuum
setting. The treatment is macroscopic, rather than cellular or sub-cellular.
Certain assumptions that are central to classical continuum mechanics are
revisited, the theory is reformulated, and consequences for balance laws and
constitutive relations are deduced. The treatment incorporates multiple
species. Sources and fluxes of mass, and terms for momentum and energy transfer
between species are introduced to enhance the classical balance laws. The
transported species include: (\romannumeral 1) a fluid phase, and
(\romannumeral 2) the precursors and byproducts of the reactions that create
and break down tissue. A notable feature is that the full extent of coupling
between mass transport and mechanics emerges from the thermodynamics.
Contributions to fluxes from the concentration gradient, chemical potential
gradient, stress gradient, body force and inertia have not emerged in a unified
fashion from previous formulations of the problem. The present work
demonstrates these effects via a physically-consistent treatment. The presence
of multiple, interacting species requires that the formulation be consistent
with mixture theory. This requirement has far-reaching consequences. A
preliminary numerical example is included to demonstrate some aspects of the

Reduction of derived Hochschild functors over commutative algebras and schemes
We study functors underlying derived Hochschild cohomology, also called
Shukla cohomology, of a commutative algebra S essentially of finite type and of
finite flat dimension over a commutative noetherian ring K. We construct a
complex of S-modules D, and natural reduction isomorphisms
Ext^*_{S\otimes^L_{K}S}(S|K;M\otimes^L_{K}N) ~ Ext^*_S(RHom_S(M,D),N) for all
complexes of S-modules N and all complexes M of finite flat dimension over K
whose homology H(M) is finitely generated over S; such isomorphisms determine D
up to derived isomorphism. Using Grothendieck duality theory we establish
analogous isomorphisms for any essentially finite type flat maps f: X->Y of

Auras in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and mesial temporal sclerosis.
We investigated auras in patients with drug-resistant temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) and mesial temporal sclerosis (MTS). We also investigated the clinical differences between patients with MTS and abdominal auras and those with MTS and non-mesial temporal auras. All patients with drug-resistant TLE and unilateral MTS who underwent epilepsy surgery at Jefferson Comprehensive Epilepsy Center from 1986 through 2014 were evaluated. Patients with good postoperative seizure outcome were investigated. One hundred forty-nine patients (71 males and 78 females) were studied. Thirty-one patients (20.8%) reported no auras, while 29 patients (19.5%) reported abdominal aura, and 30 patients (20.1%) reported non-mesial temporal auras; 16 patients (10.7%) had sensory auras, 11 patients (7.4%) had auditory auras, and five patients (3.4%) reported visual auras. A history of preoperative tonic-clonic seizures was strongly associated with non-mesial temporal auras (odds ratio 3.8; 95% CI: 1.15-12.98; p=0.02). About one-fifth of patients who had MTS in their MRI and responded well to surgery reported auras that are historically associated with non-mesial temporal structures. However, the presence of presumed non-mesial temporal auras in a patient with MTS may herald a more widespread epileptogenic zone
Enriching Ontologies with Multilingual Information
Multilinguality in ontologies has become an impending need for institutions worldwide that have to deal with data and linguistic resources in different natural languages. Since most ontologies are developed in one language, obtaining multilingual ontologies implies to localize or adapt them to a concrete language and culture community. As the adaptation of the ontology conceptualization demands considerable efforts, we propose to modify the ontology terminological layer by associating an external repository of linguistic data to the ontology. With this aim we provide a model called Linguistic Information Repository (LIR) that associated to the ontology meta-model allows terminological layer localization
