    In the software design stage, the software architecture design softwarereusable. One of the architectural patterns in software is the Model View Controller (MVC) which is the most widely used in software development. Development with the MVC still has problems, one of which is lack of modularity. To deal with this modularity, MVC has a derivative, namely a hierarchy. Because there is a hierarchy in MVC software development, it can make modules within MVC . The number of modules that will be applied in building website Village Land Geographical System authmodule, the population module, the filing module, and the land module. Several studies have utilized the application of a hierarchical concept in MVC called hierarchical model view controller to deal with modularity issues and simplify application development with hierarchical model view controllers. Using the concept of hierarchical model view controller (HMVC) This will be applied to the development of the village land geographic system website. The purpose of this research is to apply the HMVC method which is used as modules to facilitate the development of the Village Land Geographical system. The expected benefit is to increase efficiency in building more modular applications. The results of this study, to make architectural designs more modular that can be redeveloped.testing blackbox, where the results of the test got the expected results

    Towards a Reference Architecture with Modular Design for Large-scale Genotyping and Phenotyping Data Analysis: A Case Study with Image Data

    With the rapid advancement of computing technologies, various scientific research communities have been extensively using cloud-based software tools or applications. Cloud-based applications allow users to access software applications from web browsers while relieving them from the installation of any software applications in their desktop environment. For example, Galaxy, GenAP, and iPlant Colaborative are popular cloud-based systems for scientific workflow analysis in the domain of plant Genotyping and Phenotyping. These systems are being used for conducting research, devising new techniques, and sharing the computer assisted analysis results among collaborators. Researchers need to integrate their new workflows/pipelines, tools or techniques with the base system over time. Moreover, large scale data need to be processed within the time-line for more effective analysis. Recently, Big Data technologies are emerging for facilitating large scale data processing with commodity hardware. Among the above-mentioned systems, GenAp is utilizing the Big Data technologies for specific cases only. The structure of such a cloud-based system is highly variable and complex in nature. Software architects and developers need to consider totally different properties and challenges during the development and maintenance phases compared to the traditional business/service oriented systems. Recent studies report that software engineers and data engineers confront challenges to develop analytic tools for supporting large scale and heterogeneous data analysis. Unfortunately, less focus has been given by the software researchers to devise a well-defined methodology and frameworks for flexible design of a cloud system for the Genotyping and Phenotyping domain. To that end, more effective design methodologies and frameworks are an urgent need for cloud based Genotyping and Phenotyping analysis system development that also supports large scale data processing. In our thesis, we conduct a few studies in order to devise a stable reference architecture and modularity model for the software developers and data engineers in the domain of Genotyping and Phenotyping. In the first study, we analyze the architectural changes of existing candidate systems to find out the stability issues. Then, we extract architectural patterns of the candidate systems and propose a conceptual reference architectural model. Finally, we present a case study on the modularity of computation-intensive tasks as an extension of the data-centric development. We show that the data-centric modularity model is at the core of the flexible development of a Genotyping and Phenotyping analysis system. Our proposed model and case study with thousands of images provide a useful knowledge-base for software researchers, developers, and data engineers for cloud based Genotyping and Phenotyping analysis system development

    Agent-based hierarchical approach for executing bag-of-tasks in clouds

    Numerous unrelated, independent (no inter-task communication) tasks called “bag-oftasks”(BoTs) compared with message passing applications can be highly parallelised andexecuted in any acceptable order. A common practice when executing bag-of-tasks applications(BoT) is to exploit the master-slave topology. Cloud environments offer some featuresthat facilitate executing BoT applications. One of the approaches to control cloud resourcesis to use agents that can flexibly act in a dynamic environment. Given these assumptions wedesigned a combination of these approaches, which can be classified as: a distributed, hierarchicalsolution to the issue of scalable executing of bag-of-tasks. The concept of our systemrelates to a project that is focused on processing huge quantities of data incoming from anetwork of sensors by the Internet. Our aim is to create a mechanism for processing such dataas a system which executes jobs while exploiting load balancing for cloud resources using,e.g., Eucalyptus. The idea is to create a hybrid architecture which takes advantage of somecentralized parts of the system and full distributedness in other parts. While mobile devices facilitate in consuming web resources in the form of web services, the growing demand for consuming services on mobile device is introducing a complex ecosystem in the mobile environment. This research addresses the communication challenges involved in mobile distributed networks and proposes an event-driven communication approach for information dissemination. This research investigates different communication techniques such as synchronous and asynchronous polling and long-polling, server-side push as mechanisms between client-server interactions and the latest web technologies namely HTML5 standard WebSocket as communication protocol within a publish/subscribe paradigm.     This thesis aims to discuss and present an IT system to distribute documents within a large scale sales organization. Therefore, different sales applications on the market are analyzed and described. Based on this analysis, requirements for the IT system are defined. The requirements are divided into client-side and server-side requirements. The server application is realized using an existing ECM system to support the content throughout the enterprise content life cycle. Therefore, an evaluation of existing ECM systems is performed with a criteria catalog based on the requirements. Afterwards, the conception and architecture of the IT system is described, followed by further insights into the technical implementation of the mobile application. Finally, the features of the overall IT system are discussed and an outlook on how to extend the IT system is presented

    Self-managing cloud-native applications : design, implementation and experience

    Running applications in the cloud efficiently requires much more than deploying software in virtual machines. Cloud applications have to be continuously managed: (1) to adjust their resources to the incoming load and (2) to face transient failures replicating and restarting components to provide resiliency on unreliable infrastructure. Continuous management monitors application and infrastructural metrics to provide automated and responsive reactions to failures (health management) and changing environmental conditions (auto-scaling) minimizing human intervention. In the current practice, management functionalities are provided as infrastructural or third party services. In both cases they are external to the application deployment. We claim that this approach has intrinsic limits, namely that separating management functionalities from the application prevents them from naturally scaling with the application and requires additional management code and human intervention. Moreover, using infrastructure provider services for management functionalities results in vendor lock-in effectively preventing cloud applications to adapt and run on the most effective cloud for the job. In this paper we discuss the main characteristics of cloud native applications, propose a novel architecture that enables scalable and resilient self-managing applications in the cloud, and relate on our experience in porting a legacy application to the cloud applying cloud-native principles
