Finite symmetry transformation group of the Konopelchenko Dubrovsky equation from its Lax pair *

    Get PDF
Starting from a weak Lax pair, the general Lie point symmetry group of the Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky equation is obtained by using the general direct method. And the corresponding Lie algebra structure is proved to be a KacMoody-Virasoro type. Furthermore, a new multi-soliton solution for the Konopelchenko-Dubrovsky equation is also given from this symmetry group and a known solution

Symbolic computation of conservation laws for nonlinear partial differential equations in multiple space dimensions

    Get PDF
A method for symbolically computing conservation laws of nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) in multiple space dimensions is presented in the language of variational calculus and linear algebra. The steps of the method are illustrated using the Zakharov-Kuznetsov and Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equations as examples. The method is algorithmic and has been implemented in Mathematica. The software package, ConservationLawsMD.m, can be used to symbolically compute and test conservation laws for polynomial PDEs that can be written as nonlinear evolution equations. The code ConservationLawsMD.m has been applied to (2+1)-dimensional versions of the Sawada-Kotera, Camassa-Holm, and Gardner equations, and the multi-dimensional Khokhlov-Zabolotskaya equation.Comment: 26 pages. Paper will appear in Journal of Symbolic Computation (2011). Darboux Transformations for (2+1)-Dimensional Extensions of the KP Hierarchy

New extensions of the KP and modified KP hierarchies with self-consistent sources are proposed. The latter provide new generalizations of (2+1)(2+1)-dimensional integrable equations, including the DS-III equation and the NN-wave problem. Furthermore, we recover a system that contains two types of the KP equation with self-consistent sources as special cases. Darboux and binary Darboux transformations are applied to generate solutions of the proposed hierarchies

Symmetry Reductions of (2 + 1)-Dimensional CDGKS Equation and Its Reduced Lax Pairs

With the aid of symbolic computation, we obtain the symmetry transformations of the (2 + 1)-dimensional Caudrey-Dodd-Gibbon-Kotera-Sawada (CDGKS) equation by Lou’s direct method which is based on Lax pairs. Moreover, we use the classical Lie group method to seek the symmetry groups of both the CDGKS equation and its Lax pair and then reduce them by the obtained symmetries. In particular, we consider the reductions of the Lax pair completely. As a result, three reduced (1 + 1)-dimensional equations with their new Lax pairs are presented and some group-invariant solutions of the equation are given

Exact Solutions and Conservation Laws of a Two-Dimensional Integrable Generalization of the Kaup-Kupershmidt Equation

    Get PDF
We study a two-dimensional integrable generalization of the Kaup-Kupershmidt equation, which arises in various problems in mathematical physics. Exact solutions are obtained using the Lie symmetry method in conjunction with the extended tanh method and the extended Jacobi elliptic function method. In addition to exact solutions we also present conservation laws which are derived using the multiplier approach
