    Disturbance-observer-based robust control for time delay uncertain systems

    A robust control scheme is proposed for a class of systems with uncertainty and time delay based on disturbance observer technique. A disturbance observer is developed to estimate the disturbance generated by an exogenous system, and the design parameters of the disturbance observer are determined by solving linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Based on the output of the disturbance observer, a robust control scheme is proposed for the time delay uncertain system. The disturbance-observer-based robust controller is combined of two parts: one is a linear feedback controller designed using LMIs and the other is a compensatory controller designed with the output of the disturbance observer. By choosing an appropriate Lyapunov function candidate, the stability of the closed-loop system is proved. Finally, simulation example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme

    Producción CientíficaFunctional observers are the major alternative to many practical estimation problems where full-order observers cannot be used. This paper introduces a generalized approach to design H∞ functional observers for a class of Lipschitz nonlinear systems with multiple time delays. Moreover, the considered system extends from previously published work in that it presents nonlinearity, multiple delay and external disturbance. Their main findings come from the development of a generalized augmented Lyapunov function that uses both the extended reciprocal convex combination and the Wirtinger inequality. The stability of the observer is therefore guaranteed by an LMI optimization problem. Finally, the steps of the design procedure were condensed and proffered for the two numerical examples to test the recommended design approach

    Dissipativity analysis of stochastic fuzzy neural networks with randomly occurring uncertainties using delay dividing approach

    This paper focuses on the problem of delay-dependent robust dissipativity analysis for a class of stochastic fuzzy neural networks with time-varying delay. The randomly occurring uncertainties under consideration are assumed to follow certain mutually uncorrelated Bernoulli-distributed white noise sequences. Based on the Itô's differential formula, Lyapunov stability theory, and linear matrix inequalities techniques, several novel sufficient conditions are derived using delay partitioning approach to ensure the dissipativity of neural networks with or without time-varying parametric uncertainties. It is shown, by comparing with existing approaches, that the delay-partitioning projection approach can largely reduce the conservatism of the stability results. Numerical examples are constructed to show the effectiveness of the theoretical results

    A semi-free weighting matrices approach for neutral-type delayed neural networks

    AbstractIn this paper, a new approach is proposed for stability issues of neutral-type neural networks (DNNs) with constant delay. First, the semi-free weighting matrices are proposed and used instead of the known free weighting matrices to express the relationship between the terms in the Leibniz–Newton formula to simplify the system synthesis and to obtain less computation demand. Second, global exponential stability conditions which are less conservative and restrictive than the known results are derived. At the same time, based on the above approach, fewer variable matrices are introduced in the construction of the Lyapunov functional and augmented Lyapunov functional. Two examples are given to show their effectiveness and advantages over others

    Static anti-windup compensator design for locally Lipschitz systems under input and output delays

    This paper proposes a static anti-windup compensator (AWC) design methodology for the locally Lipschitz nonlinear systems, containing time-varying interval delays in input and output of the system in the presence of actuator saturation. Static AWC design is proposed for the systems by considering a delay-range-dependent methodology to consider less conservative delay bounds. The approach has been developed by utilizing an improved Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional, locally Lipschitz nonlinearity property, delay-interval, delay derivative upper bound, local sector condition, L2 gain reduction from exogenous input to exogenous output, improved Wirtinger inequality, additive time-varying delays, and convex optimization algorithms to obtain convex conditions for AWC gain calculations. In contrast to the existing results, the present work considers both input and output delays for the AWC design (along with their combined additive effect) and deals with a more generic locally Lipschitz class of nonlinear systems. The effectiveness of the proposed methodology is demonstrated via simulations for a nonlinear DC servo motor system, possessing multiple time-delays, dynamic nonlinearity and actuator constraints

    Data-driven linear decision rule approach for distributionally robust optimization of on-line signal control

    We propose a two-stage, on-line signal control strategy for dynamic networks using a linear decision rule (LDR) approach and a distributionally robust optimization (DRO) technique. The first (off-line) stage formulates a LDR that maps real-time traffic data to optimal signal control policies. A DRO problem is solved to optimize the on-line performance of the LDR in the presence of uncertainties associated with the observed traffic states and ambiguity in their underlying distribution functions. We employ a data-driven calibration of the uncertainty set, which takes into account historical traffic data. The second (on-line) stage implements a very efficient linear decision rule whose performance is guaranteed by the off-line computation. We test the proposed signal control procedure in a simulation environment that is informed by actual traffic data obtained in Glasgow, and demonstrate its full potential in on-line operation and deployability on realistic networks, as well as its effectiveness in improving traffic

    Robust passivity and passification of stochastic fuzzy time-delay systems

    The official published version can be obtained from the link below.In this paper, the passivity and passification problems are investigated for a class of uncertain stochastic fuzzy systems with time-varying delays. The fuzzy system is based on the Takagi–Sugeno (T–S) model that is often used to represent the complex nonlinear systems in terms of fuzzy sets and fuzzy reasoning. To reflect more realistic dynamical behaviors of the system, both the parameter uncertainties and the stochastic disturbances are considered, where the parameter uncertainties enter into all the system matrices and the stochastic disturbances are given in the form of a Brownian motion. We first propose the definition of robust passivity in the sense of expectation. Then, by utilizing the Lyapunov functional method, the Itô differential rule and the matrix analysis techniques, we establish several sufficient criteria such that, for all admissible parameter uncertainties and stochastic disturbances, the closed-loop stochastic fuzzy time-delay system is robustly passive in the sense of expectation. The derived criteria, which are either delay-independent or delay-dependent, are expressed in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) that can be easily checked by using the standard numerical software.
