    The Third International Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Automation for Space (i-SAIRAS 94), held October 18-20, 1994, in Pasadena, California, was jointly sponsored by NASA, ESA, and Japan's National Space Development Agency, and was hosted by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) of the California Institute of Technology. i-SAIRAS 94 featured presentations covering a variety of technical and programmatic topics, ranging from underlying basic technology to specific applications of artificial intelligence and robotics to space missions. i-SAIRAS 94 featured a special workshop on planning and scheduling and provided scientists, engineers, and managers with the opportunity to exchange theoretical ideas, practical results, and program plans in such areas as space mission control, space vehicle processing, data analysis, autonomous spacecraft, space robots and rovers, satellite servicing, and intelligent instruments

    The selective use of gaze in automatic speech recognition

    The performance of automatic speech recognition (ASR) degrades significantly in natural environments compared to in laboratory assessments. Being a major source of interference, acoustic noise affects speech intelligibility during the ASR process. There are two main problems caused by the acoustic noise. The first is the speech signal contamination. The second is the speakers' vocal and non-vocal behavioural changes. These phenomena elicit mismatch between the ASR training and recognition conditions, which leads to considerable performance degradation. To improve noise-robustness, exploiting prior knowledge of the acoustic noise in speech enhancement, feature extraction and recognition models are popular approaches. An alternative approach presented in this thesis is to introduce eye gaze as an extra modality. Eye gaze behaviours have roles in interaction and contain information about cognition and visual attention; not all behaviours are relevant to speech. Therefore, gaze behaviours are used selectively to improve ASR performance. This is achieved by inference procedures using noise-dependant models of gaze behaviours and their temporal and semantic relationship with speech. `Selective gaze-contingent ASR' systems are proposed and evaluated on a corpus of eye movement and related speech in different clean, noisy environments. The best performing systems utilise both acoustic and language model adaptation

El modelo desarrollado incluye efectos como el ’flooding’ y la dinámica de la temperatura y es de utilidad para poder diseñar y ensayar controles tanto de la válvula de purga como de la refrigeración de la pila mediante un ventilador. Se ha desarrollado un novedoso tratamiento de la ecuación experimental que modela la curva de polarización que simplifica considerablemente su caracterización. Por último el modelo realizado ha sido validado con datos tomados de una pila real

    The Advanced Design Program (ADP) is a unique program that brings together students and faculty from U.S. engineering schools with engineers from the NASA centers through integration of current and future NASA space and aeronautics projects into university engineering design curriculum. The Advanced Space Design Program study topics cover a broad range of projects that could be undertaken during a 20-30 year period beginning with the deployment of the Space Station Freedom. The Advanced Aeronautics Design Program study topics typically focus on nearer-term projects of interest to NASA, covering from small, slow-speed vehicles through large, supersonic passenger transports and on through hypersonic research vehicles.     In 2017, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) issued a report on the challenges that Agriculture is facing and will face into the 21st century, which can be summarized in one question: will we be able to sustainably and effectively feed everyone by 2050 and beyond, while meeting the additional demand for agricultural commodities due to non- food uses? Agricultural engineers can contribute in this process by releasing the biological and technical constraints on crop and animal productivity, reducing the contribution of the agricultural sector to environmental degradation, and enabling agricultural practices to adapt to environmental changes. To achieve optimal results for agribusiness and the society, the expertise of agricultural engineers must be integrated with expertise from other sciences: breakthrough technologies are needed for agricultural enterprises to meet the increasing list of standards and norms in the areas of energy, animal welfare, product quality, water, and volatile emissions. Recognition of trends in society and networking and participation in debates have thus become important activities for agricultural engineers. The Iberian Agroengineering Congress series brings together Spanish and Portuguese engineers, researchers, educators and practitioners to present and discuss innovations, trends, and solutions to the aforementioned challenges in the interdisciplinary field of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering. This biennial congress, jointly organized by the Spanish Society of Agroengineering and the Specialized Section of Rural Engineering of the Sociedade de Ciências Agrárias de Portugal, has proven to be an excellent opportunity to network and discuss future developments. In its 10th edition, the Congress has been held from 3-6 September in Huesca (Spain), at the Escuela Politécnica Superior, located on the Huesca Campus of the University of Zaragoza. The topics of the Congress have included the main areas of Agricultural Engineering: mechanization; soils and water; animal production technology and aquaculture; rural constructions; energy; information technologies and process control; projects, environment, and territory; postharvest technology; and educational innovation in agroengineering. The Congress has received 123 participants, who have submitted 144 papers, 86 oral communications and 58 poster. 22 universities, 4 research centers and 8 companies/professional associations have been represented. The quality of the papers presented to the congress is endorsed not only by the long trajectory of the Iberian Agroengineering Congress, but also by the edition of a Special Issue of Agronomy journal (ISSN 2073-4395) entitled “Selected Papers form 10th Iberian Agroengineering Congress”

    Grosso modo, el habitus colaborativo supone una serie de disposiciones heredadas y aprendidas con respecto a estilos de liderazgo, modos de dirección, motivación y emprendimiento, así como innovación y productividad. Empero, el factor del compromiso laboral, reportado como determinante del desempeño, ha sido soslayado por los estudios en virtud de que se trata de un tipo de actitud muy similar al habitus pero distinta en cuanto a la construcción de un proceso institucional. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue dilucidar las narrativas y los discursos en torno a; 1) la formación de una red colaborativa, 2) la producción del conocimiento y 3) el clima de relaciones conflictivas. Se llevó a cabo un estudio comprensivo-interpretativo, transversal y exploratorio con una selección intencional de practicantes profesionales. Los significados en torno a las categorías y dimensiones resaltan el liderazgo como gestor del conocimiento, pero se advierten líneas investigativas que especificarían las diferencias institucionales entre producción y reproducción del conocimiento
