    Deep Reinforcement Learning for Join Order Enumeration

    Join order selection plays a significant role in query performance. However, modern query optimizers typically employ static join enumeration algorithms that do not receive any feedback about the quality of the resulting plan. Hence, optimizers often repeatedly choose the same bad plan, as they do not have a mechanism for "learning from their mistakes". In this paper, we argue that existing deep reinforcement learning techniques can be applied to address this challenge. These techniques, powered by artificial neural networks, can automatically improve decision making by incorporating feedback from their successes and failures. Towards this goal, we present ReJOIN, a proof-of-concept join enumerator, and present preliminary results indicating that ReJOIN can match or outperform the PostgreSQL optimizer in terms of plan quality and join enumeration efficiency

    Active, creative, effective, and enjoy full learning (PAKEM) needs to be supported by good teachers’ understanding about both of content and choosing context. In Aceh Province having Islamic educational concept, it is rather difficult to find teachers who have both good knowledge and religious concept. To solve that problem, this research develops some learning material for PAKEM to grow optimally potential students, teachers, and culture (including the Islamic culture) and to improve the education quality, which is writer called PAKEM-Plus. Learning material developed consist of teacher’s guidebook, lesson plan, student’s worksheet, and classroom assessment for mathematics at grade 5 which satisfy validity and practicality criteria.     Improving Adult Learners’ Experience with Continuing Professional Education: A Transformational Path to Andragogy

    The topic of this organizational improvement plan is to improve the learning satisfaction of adult learners in professional programs who return to universities to attend formal academic courses or programmes in class while pursuing their employment. Its purpose is to promote and support the teaching faculty involved in such courses and programmes in adopting andragogical methods to support those adult learners and improve their learning experience. The research is informed organizational leadership, organizational change, and by andragogic theories. This study will impact adult learners, teaching faculty, administrators, and organizational culture as it relates to Continuing Professional Education (CPE), with particular focus on helping instructors teach adults better using more andragogical methods. It is expected that in doing so, they will improve their learning experience, academic achievement, recruiting and retention of the growing number of professional adult learners seeking formal education at universities. The design of this study is based on quality assurance and quality improvement. It is a research-informed quality improvement plan based on the trans-theoretical model (Prochaska & Velicer, 1997), the intelligent leadership model (Sydänmaanlakka, 2003), and transformational leadership (Burns, 1978; Bass, 1985). The purpose of lesson study is an effort to develop competence in the teacher learning community in a school as a medium for sharing good experiences in order to obtain quality learning. The lesson study stage consists of plan-do-see, where the implementation begins with planning collaborative learning, then carrying out the learning and reflecting on the results that have been implemented to find out the advantages and disadvantages.     Objective conditions that occur in schools, where teachers in carrying out teaching tasks without good planning certainly cannot create conducive learning conditions for improving the quality of student learning processes and outcomes. To improve such conditions, it can be done by carrying out teacher development through the implementation of academic supervision in the hope that teachers have the will to continuously improve their competency feasibility. The problems studied are (1) how is the model for fostering junior teachers in order to make a learning implementation plan oriented to active student learning, (2) how is the coaching model for junior teachers in order to implement a learning implementation plan oriented to active student learning, (3) whether the development of junior teachers through the implementation of academic supervision can improve the ability of teachers to make lesson plans oriented to active learning models, and (4) whether the development of junior teachers through the implementation of academic supervision can improve the ability of teachers to implement lesson plans that well made. The results of the data analysis show that: (1) the development of junior teachers carried out through the implementation of academic supervision can improve the ability of teachers to make learning implementation plans oriented to the active learning model, and (2) the development of junior teachers through the implementation of academic supervision. improve the ability of teachers to carry out learning based on a well-made lesson plan
