Using graph-kernels to represent semantic information in text classification

Most text classification systems use bag-of-words represen- tation of documents to find the classification target function. Linguistic structures such as morphology, syntax and semantic are completely ne- glected in the learning process. This paper proposes a new document representation that, while includ- ing its context independent sentence meaning, is able to be used by a structured kernel function, namely the direct product kernel. The proposal is evaluated using a dataset of articles from a Portuguese daily newspaper and classifiers are built using the SVM algorithm. The results show that this structured representation, while only partially de- scribing document’s significance has the same discriminative power over classes as the traditional bag-of-words approach

Meter based omission of function words in MOSAIC

MOSAIC (Model of Syntax Acquisition in Children) is augmented with a new mechanism that allows for the omission of unstressed function words based on the prosodic structure of the utterance in which they occur. The mechanism allows MOSAIC to omit elements from multiple locations in a target utterance, which it was previously unable to do. It is shown that, although the new mechanism results in Optional Infinitive errors when run on children’s input, it is insufficient to simulate the high rate OI errors in children’s speech unless combined with MOSAIC’s edge-first learning mechanism. It is also shown that the addition of the new mechanism does not adversely affect MOSAIC’s fit to the Optional Infinitive phenomenon. The mechanism does, however, make MOSAIC’s output more child-like, both in terms of the range of utterances it can simulate, and the level and type of determiner omission that the model displays

Analisis Frasa Teks Narasi pada Buku Pembelajaran IPS Kelas 8 Kurikulum Merdeka

Syntax is a branch of linguistics that studies grammar in an utterance. One of the objects of study of syntax is phrases. Phrases are grammatical units consisting of two or more words that do not exceed the function limit. This study aims to use phrases that focus on noun phrases, verb phrases, and adjective phrases in narrative texts in social studies learning books for class VII of the independent curriculum. This study used a descriptive qualitative data analysis method by searching, finding, determining, and analyzing the phrases in the narrative text of social studies learning books for class VIII of the independence curriculum. In analyzing the data using the approach of theoretical study of syntax and using the study of documents as a method of data collection. As for the results obtained from this analysis in the form of finding seven noun phrases as the most used phrases in the text, three verb phrases, and five adjective phrases that are appropriate to their respective uses. It is hoped that this research will help many people, especially those pursuing education, better understand the different types of verb phrases, noun phrases, and adjective phrases in narrative text sentences

This type of research is qualitative descriptive. Researchers analyzed using basic techniques pilah decisive element (PUP) is sifting through the data concerned with the referent or reference. This study shows that a form of words that exist in the women's magazine Femina, Kebaya and Kartini edition of October, November, December 2015 consists of two forms of full words and word tasks. Femina, Kebaya and Kartini 2015 the dominant form full words for words that define overall pretty words have meaning and can stand alone. As in the full word: white, fashionable, exclusive, glamur, graceful, slender, charming, tender, sexy, beauty, clean, smooth, elegant and casual.
