    The effects of cooperative and competitive games on classroom interaction frequencies

    This research looks at the effects of playing cooperative and competitive computer games on pupils’ classroom interaction frequency, as an index of their cooperation and engagement in class. It was predicted that students who played a cooperative game would receive higher teacher ratings of classroom interaction frequency, whereas students who played a competitive game would receive lower teacher ratings of classroom interaction frequency. Thirty-two school children with behaviour and learning difficulties played either a cooperative or competitive version of the Wii for a week. The pre- and post-game classroom interaction scores were different for the cooperative and competitive game conditions in the predicted directions. The findings suggest that cooperative games may benefit the social interaction of pupils within the classroom

    This study aims to determine the student learning outcomes using cooperative learning type Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and Learning Together (LT). This theoretical study is a systematic mapping study or study letarature. Student learning outcomes in the study of this theory are seen from the mathematics learning outcomes of elementary school (SD) students who use the cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and Learning Together (LT) types. The results of the theoretical study show that there are differences in student learning outcomes that use the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type of cooperative learning model, but they are not significant. While the results of the study of student learning outcomes theory using the cooperative learning model type Learning Together (LT) showed significant similarities. The results of the theoretical study can be concluded that in general student mathematics learning outcomes with the application of cooperative learning models of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) and Learning Together (LT) experience a significant increase

    Abstract: The purpose of this research was to know: the effect of cooperative model type Teams Games Tournament and Problem Based Learning to the mathematics learning achievement , which one of model gives a better effect between cooperative model type Teams Games Tournament with Problem Based Learning to the learning achievement of mathematics. The form of kuantitatif research with quasi-experimental design used the dreft “Randomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest Design”. Population of this research was all of fifth grade students in the second semester of dabin 1 Juwiring state elementary school in academic years of 2012/2013. Sampling technique was “Clutser Random Sampling”. The data took techniques of student learning result used observation, intreview, used observation, test, and documentation. The data analysis was t-test. The conclusions of this reseach is there are a significant defference of the cooperative model type Teams Games Tournament to the mathematics learning achievement, Problem Based Learning model better than cooperative model type Teams Games Tournament, based on t test showed (thitung ≥ ttabel = 2,7904 ≥ 2,007). Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: pengaruh model kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament dan model Problem Based Learning terhadap hasil belajar matematika, model manakah yang memberikan pengaruh yang lebih besar antara model kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament dengan Problem Based Learning terhadap hasil belajar matematika. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif eksperimental semu, menggunakan rancangan “Randomized Control-Group Pretest-Posttest Design”. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V semester 2 SDN se-dabin 1 Juwiring tahun ajaran 2012/2013. Pengambilan sampel dengan teknik “Clutser Random Sampling”. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik observasi, wawancara, tes, dokumentasi. Teknis analisis data menggunakan uji-t. Simpulan penelitian ini adalah ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari model kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament dan model Problem Based Learning terhadap hasil belajar matematika, model Problem Based Learning lebih baik dibandingkan model kooperatif tipe Teams Games Tournament, berdasarkan hasil uji t menunjukkan thitung ≥ ttabel (`2,7904 ≥ 2,007).
