Learning browsing patterns for context-aware recommendation
The success of personal information agents depends on their capacity to both identify relevant information for users and proactively recommend context-relevant information. In this paper, we propose an approach to enable proactive context-aware recommendation based on the knowledge of both user interests and browsing patterns. The pro- posed approach analyzes the browsing behavior of users to derive a semantically enhanced context that points out the information which is likely to be relevant for a user according to its current activities.IFIP International Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Theory and Practice - Agents 1Red de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

Intent-Aware Contextual Recommendation System
Recommender systems take inputs from user history, use an internal ranking
algorithm to generate results and possibly optimize this ranking based on
feedback. However, often the recommender system is unaware of the actual intent
of the user and simply provides recommendations dynamically without properly
understanding the thought process of the user. An intelligent recommender
system is not only useful for the user but also for businesses which want to
learn the tendencies of their users. Finding out tendencies or intents of a
user is a difficult problem to solve.
Keeping this in mind, we sought out to create an intelligent system which
will keep track of the user's activity on a web-application as well as
determine the intent of the user in each session. We devised a way to encode
the user's activity through the sessions. Then, we have represented the
information seen by the user in a high dimensional format which is reduced to
lower dimensions using tensor factorization techniques. The aspect of intent
awareness (or scoring) is dealt with at this stage. Finally, combining the user
activity data with the contextual information gives the recommendation score.
The final recommendations are then ranked using filtering and collaborative
recommendation techniques to show the top-k recommendations to the user. A
provision for feedback is also envisioned in the current system which informs
the model to update the various weights in the recommender system. Our overall
model aims to combine both frequency-based and context-based recommendation
systems and quantify the intent of a user to provide better recommendations.
We ran experiments on real-world timestamped user activity data, in the
setting of recommending reports to the users of a business analytics tool and
the results are better than the baselines. We also tuned certain aspects of our
model to arrive at optimized results.Comment: Presented at the 5th International Workshop on Data Science and Big

Knowledge Graph semantic enhancement of input data for improving AI
Intelligent systems designed using machine learning algorithms require a
large number of labeled data. Background knowledge provides complementary, real
world factual information that can augment the limited labeled data to train a
machine learning algorithm. The term Knowledge Graph (KG) is in vogue as for
many practical applications, it is convenient and useful to organize this
background knowledge in the form of a graph. Recent academic research and
implemented industrial intelligent systems have shown promising performance for
machine learning algorithms that combine training data with a knowledge graph.
In this article, we discuss the use of relevant KGs to enhance input data for
two applications that use machine learning -- recommendation and community
detection. The KG improves both accuracy and explainability
A Hybrid Web Recommendation System based on the Improved Association Rule Mining Algorithm
As the growing interest of web recommendation systems those are applied to
deliver customized data for their users, we started working on this system.
Generally the recommendation systems are divided into two major categories such
as collaborative recommendation system and content based recommendation system.
In case of collaborative recommen-dation systems, these try to seek out users
who share same tastes that of given user as well as recommends the websites
according to the liking given user. Whereas the content based recommendation
systems tries to recommend web sites similar to those web sites the user has
liked. In the recent research we found that the efficient technique based on
asso-ciation rule mining algorithm is proposed in order to solve the problem of
web page recommendation. Major problem of the same is that the web pages are
given equal importance. Here the importance of pages changes according to the
fre-quency of visiting the web page as well as amount of time user spends on
that page. Also recommendation of newly added web pages or the pages those are
not yet visited by users are not included in the recommendation set. To
over-come this problem, we have used the web usage log in the adaptive
association rule based web mining where the asso-ciation rules were applied to
personalization. This algorithm was purely based on the Apriori data mining
algorithm in order to generate the association rules. However this method also
suffers from some unavoidable drawbacks. In this paper we are presenting and
investigating the new approach based on weighted Association Rule Mining
Algorithm and text mining. This is improved algorithm which adds semantic
knowledge to the results, has more efficiency and hence gives better quality
and performances as compared to existing approaches.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, 2 table
XML Document Adaptation Queries (XDAQ)
Adaptive web applications combine data retrieval on the web with reasoning so as to generate context dependent contents. The data is retrieved either as content or as context specifications. Content data is, for example, fragments of a textbook or e-commerce catalogue, whereas context data is, for example, a user model or a device profile. Current adaptive web applications are often implemented using ad hoc and heterogeneous techniques. This paper describes a novel approach called ”XML Document Adaptation Queries (XDAQ)” requiring less heterogeneous software components. The approach is based on using a web query language for data retrieval (content as well as context) and on a novel generic formalism to express adaptation. The approach is generic in the sense that it is applicable with all web query and transformation languages, for example with XQuery and XSLT
