    The Logistic Principles for Fast Flexible Strategy Design of the Company in Crisis Time

    The article deals with design of the logistic principles enabling an enterprise to create a strategy flexible in terms of business and marketing and stable and steady in terms of manufacturing. In order to create a strategy model the following principles can be applied: shortening the period of capacity planning combined with flexible planning, SYNCRO – MRP (Material Required Planning) principle, the application of forecasting in capacity planning, creation with partners of one of the cooperation forms such as supply chain, demand chain, lean supply chain, agile supply chain, leagile supply chain, and using the DBR (Drum Buffer Rope), APS (Advanced Planning System) and SCP (Supply Chain Planning) systems.     A comparison between lean and visibility approach in supply chain planning

    Nowadays, competition increases more and more in the market and it is moved from firm vs firm to supply chain vs supply chain. Therefore, supply chains (SC) are always looking to improve their efficiency to excel in the market. In order to do that, SC managers pay much attention to the coordination among SC members. SC planning allows the coordination among the SC players. In the literature, many SC planning approaches have been developed and analyzed, but up to now, the debate on which is the best approach is an open issue. On the other hand, lean approach is becoming more and more popular among SC managers. Both practitioners and academics have recognized the importance of Lean approach for single firm efficiency. This paper aim at evaluating the impact of Lean approach implementation in supply chain planning tasks. It provides an in-depth analysis of Lean SC planning policy impact on SC performances and compare it with traditional EOQ and Visibility policies. The influence of SC planning policies and of external parameters is assessed in a DES simulation study. The simulation model tests a multi-product three-echelon supply chain. Lean "pull" principle is developed through Kanban system implementation and Lean "create the flow" principle is developed through setup time and batch size reductions. The simulation study analyses inventory level, transportation performance and service level performances. According to simulation outputs a total SC logistic costs have been evaluated for each scenario. The results provide new insights suggesting that Lean supply chain planning policy gives competitive advantages. The results have important consequences for implementation of Lean concepts in practice in SC planning tasks

    How green is a lean supply chain?

    This article presents a supply chain planning model that can be used to investigate tradeoffs between cost and environmental degradation including carbon emissions, energy consumption and waste generation. The model also incorporates other aspects of real world supply chains such as multiple transport lot sizing and flexible holding capacity of warehouses. The application of the model and solution method is investigated in an actual case problem. Our analysis of the numerical results focuses on investigating relationship between lean practices and green outcomes. We find that (1) not all lean interventions at the tactical supply chain planning level result in green benefits, and (2) an agile supply chain is the greenest and most efficient alternative when compared to strictly lean and centralized situations

    Lean supply chain planning: Simulation of lean techniques integration

    Lean Supply Chain (LSC) has become a strategic configuration in order to satisfy customer's expectations efficiently and effectively. LSC concept is the implementation of Lean principles and techniques outside single company boundaries, creating the flow and making SC reacting instead of foreseeing. Supply Chain Planning (SCP) is a part of SCM management strategy that allows managers to align operations of different companies and so improve operations efficiency and effectiveness. Lean Supply Chain Planning (LSCP) is a new SCP model that is growing interest among both academics and practitioners, but it is not well studied yet. This paper aims at providing a theoretical and practical guidelines about Lean techniques implementations impact in SCP. To reach it, a Discret-event-simulation (DES) simulation model of a three-echelon and multi-product supply chain has been set. This research focuses on three principles of Lean production: identifying the value, creating flow to the customer and pull. The results achieved demonstrate that LSCP techniques have a positive impact on inventories levels and in particular, they demonstrate synergy among techniques so that total benefit is greater than the sum of benefits of single technique implementations

    Supply chain management (SCM) requirements have changed significantly in recent years. The buzzword nowadays when managing global supply chains is adaptation to increasing global complexity and volatility. Growing pressure from financial markets and the difficulty of increasing operating margins and working capital in this environment require efficient planning and execution of global production processes. More and more companies are relying therefore on LEAN SCM - a planning concept for harmonized production and replenishment planning across the entire supply chain with close linkages to organizational processes and IT infrastructure. It is designed expressly to simplify existing planning processes and to improve the synchronization and variability management of global supply chains.     Modelling lean and green supply chain

It is important to recognize new opportunities for organization and its supply chain. In the last few years the approach to lean, agile, resilient and green supply chain paradigms has been addressed in the scientific literature. Research in this field shows that the integration of these concepts revealed some contradictions among so many paradigms. This thesis is mainly focused on the lean and green approaches. Thirteen different management frameworks, embodied in awards, standards and tools were studied to understand if they could contribute for the modelling process of a lean and green approach. The study reveals a number of categories that are common in most management frameworks, providing adequate conditions for a lean and green supply chain transformation. A conceptual framework for the evaluation of a lean and green organization`s supply chain was proposed. The framework considers six key criteria, namely, leadership, people, strategic planning, stakeholders, processes and results. It was proposed an assessment method considering a criteria score for each criterion. The purpose is to understand how lean and green supply chain can be compatible, using principles, practices, techniques or tools (i.e. elements) that support both, a lean and a green approach, in all key criteria. A case study in the automotive upstream supply chain was performed to understand more deeply if the elements proposed for the conceptual framework could be implemented in a real-scenario. Based on the conceptual framework and the case study, a roadmap to achieve a lean-green transformation is presented. The proposed roadmap revealed its contribution to the understanding on how and when an organization`s supply chain should apply the lean and green elements.     Multiproduct supplye chain analysis through by simulation with kanban and EOQ system

    This work reviews lean literature on the supply chain focused on the operational approach, from the lean management to the Kanban system. But, the main issue of this work is to analyze the behavior of a lean supply chain using a Kanban system managing the planning in two different ways. The difference between both is related to the production order or sequence to follow: the product with fewer inventories in stock (the most critical to run out) or the one which requires less set-up time to optimize unproductive times. The study the behavior of the supply chain, it would be done through simulation with many different scenarios: 5 different demands, each one with two coefficients of variance, 4 different batch sizes, 4 different compositions of production and process saturation and ensuring different service levels between 92% and 98%. To compare these supply chain models, an approach of the supply chain using the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) system will be also simulated in the same conditions but with one batch size, the most economic one

    A systematic literature review of hybrid approaches of lean, agile and six sigma philosophies in supply chain management

    The purpose of this study is to critically review the current literature on hybrid approaches of lean, agile and six sigma applications in supply chain management. Lean, agile and six sigma are improvement philosophies; these are developed in the manufacturing industry. In the last two decades, the applications of these philosophies have received considerable attention in both the manufacturing and the service industries. This attention is evident in many published studies in different journals, showing challenges and limitations for adopting these philosophies, including the integrated lean six sigma (LSS) and lean-agile (legality or leagile) in the supply chain practices. However, studies on hybrid approaches of lean, agile and six sigma philosophies in the supply chain management using a systematic literature review are relatively lacking. With this motivation, this study aims to address such gaps in the supply chain management literature. More specifically, it focuses on exploring the challenges and limitations to identify the benefits of hybrid approaches in border supply chain management. In particular, to identify how those challenges and limitations impact on overall supply chain practices and performance. To this end, the final sample of 118 peer-reviewed articles was reviewed to constitute the knowledge base of the study. Therefore, this study critically reviewed and analysed previous theoretical and evidence-based literature on the key themes associated with the topic by using a systematic literature review. This study adopted a systematic literature review research methodology involving a three-stage review method. The three stages were (1) planning the review; (2) conducting the review; and (3) reporting and dissemination. This study presents the details of the literature search, outcomes of the search, subsequent analysis of 118 articles from 40 different journals, and contributions to knowledge, key findings and recommendations. This study is one of the first systematic literature reviews on hybrid approaches of lean, agile and six sigma philosophies, in particular reviewing the literature to explore to what extent hybrid approaches of these philosophies influence supply chain practices and performance in the context of various industries. None of the previous literature has critically reviewed the hybrid approach of lean, agile and six sigma philosophies in terms of challenges and limitations in the context of supply chain practices. This study adds to the existing literature by critically reviewing the literature on hybrid approaches of lean, agile, and six sigma philosophies, emphasizing challenges, limitations, and benefits of integrated approaches in the context of supply chain management for various industries. Based on a critical literature review, a conceptual framework is developed as the basis of integrated LASS philosophy for supply chain management

Lean authors, consultants, managers and thinkers were studied to select and adopt the best Lean strategies taking in account the traditional business management ERP tool. The detected gaps were eliminated and/or reduced by developing solutions and adopting techniques based on Lean principles. Lean manufacturing practices were extended into the supply chain contributing now as a horizontal collaboration tool to all enterprise management functions,vendors and customers. Implementing Lean Accounting techniques allowed an increase of the stream value return, especially in terms of better capacity management capabilities,due decision make based also on non financial metrics. Due these Lean solutions, the company ERP system can be streamlined to perform the business shift and one of the most important enterprise assets can meet the strategic goals defined for Lean Enterprise Resource Planning. Therefore this assay proposes the implementation of this Lean strategy to turn into a lean company, more agile and proactive, to rapidly address the constant changes in business landscape
