    This report analyses the aplicability of the principles of consciousness developed in the ASys project to three of the most relevant cognitive architectures. This is done in relation to their aplicability to build integrated control systems and studying their support for general mechanisms of real-time consciousness.\ud To analyse these architectures the ASys Framework is employed. This is a conceptual framework based on an extension for cognitive autonomous systems of the General Systems Theory (GST).\ud A general qualitative evaluation criteria for cognitive architectures is established based upon: a) requirements for a cognitive architecture, b) the theoretical framework based on the GST and c) core design principles for integrated cognitive conscious control systems

    This paper explores the identity and social worlds of the ‘urban gentry’ of Chester as they developed from the late seventeenth to the mid eighteenth century. In place of the political and cultural definitions which characterise analyses of this group, it takes the self-defined ‘occupational ’ titles of probate records as a starting point for an investigation into the background and activities of those styling themselves ‘gentleman’. Central to their identity were networks of friendship and trust. These reveal the urban gentry to have been closely tied with both the urban middling sorts and the rural gentry: a position which at once reflected and underpinned their particular situation within eighteenth-century societ

The objective of this paper is to design and implement the wireless simulation for grid computing architecture. The problem that has been state here is whether it is possible or not to design and implement the wireless grid computing in order to enhance the grid computing utilization. This paper is focus onthe designing and implementing the wireless grid computing architecture that will enhance the performance. This project will have 3 phases which is phase 1 consist of system identification and requirement analysis, phase 2 consist of project design and project development and lastly code and unit testing for phase 3. For this project, it will focus on how the wireless architecture can enhance the grid computing usage in the network management.

    Agent and cyber-physical system based self-organizing and self-adaptive intelligent shopfloor

    The increasing demand of customized production results in huge challenges to the traditional manufacturing systems. In order to allocate resources timely according to the production requirements and to reduce disturbances, a framework for the future intelligent shopfloor is proposed in this paper. The framework consists of three primary models, namely the model of smart machine agent, the self-organizing model, and the self-adaptive model. A cyber-physical system for manufacturing shopfloor based on the multiagent technology is developed to realize the above-mentioned function models. Gray relational analysis and the hierarchy conflict resolution methods were applied to achieve the self-organizing and self-adaptive capabilities, thereby improving the reconfigurability and responsiveness of the shopfloor. A prototype system is developed, which has the adequate flexibility and robustness to configure resources and to deal with disturbances effectively. This research provides a feasible method for designing an autonomous factory with exception-handling capabilities

    Distributed and scalable parsing solution for telecom network data

    The growing usage of mobile devices and the introduction of 5G networks have increased the significance of network data for the telecom business. The success of telecom organizations can depend on employing efficient data engineering techniques for transforming raw network data into useful information by analytics and machine learning (ML). Elisa Oyj., a Finnish telecommunications company, receives massive amounts of network data from network equipment manufactured by various vendors. The effectiveness of data analytics depends on efficient data engineering processes. This thesis presents a scalable data parsing solution that leverages Spark, a distributed programming framework, for parallelizing parsing routines from an existing parsing solution. We design and deploy this solution as a component of the organization's data engineering pipeline to enable automation of data-centric operations. Experimental results indicate that the efficiency of the proposed solution is heavily dependent on the individual file size distribution. The proposed parsing solution demonstrates reliability, scalability, and speed during empirical evaluation and processes a 24-hour network data within 3 hours. The main outcome of the project is an optimized setup with the minimum number of data partitions to ensure zero failures and thus minimum execution time. A smaller execution time leads to lower costs of the continuously running infrastructure provisioned on the cloud

    The National Mission for Manuscripts of India, in association with UNESCO, completed a research study to assist in the development of legal and policy framework and protocols for promoting equitable access to documentary heritage, relevant to India and other South Asian countries. This study report seeks to accurately identify and critically examine the legal and policy framework for promoting equitable access to our documentary heritage. The National Mission for Manuscripts is the most important institution in India creating bibliographic databases of manuscripts and engaged in the conservation and preservation of valuable manuscripts. This report engages with the legal and policy framework which envelops the lifecycle of the Mission’s work: the process of access to manuscripts, digitization of manuscripts and the creation of databases. By critically examining the legal rules in the practical context of the Mission’s work, the research team has put together the first such review of any such initiative in the protection of traditional knowledge in the country. The conclusions of the report are in the form of draft legal agreements and policy recommendations located in the discussion on various parts of the Mission’s work. While this report does not set out to be the final word on these significant policy initiatives, the report definitely makes significant progress in the policy debate and legal literature in this field. This report illustrates working patterns of the Mission within the legal and policy framework in the Country. This report will be a valuable sourcebook for understanding South Asian legal and policy framework for accessing documentary heritage collections. The draft legal agreements and policy recommendations, presented in this report, will also be valuable intervention tools for South Asian countries that share similar legal and policy framework within the sub-region
