The relationship between knowledge sharing and organizational performance for high technology start-up companies is not well understood. Using game theory and the concept of competitive advantage through human resource management, I examine employee perceptions of the employment game relating to cooperative knowledge behavior and firm performance as an entry point into researching organizational knowledge utilization. I draw upon classical game theory to develop four measures of perceptions critical to game playing and apply these to organizational situations via a survey instrument. I propose that perceptions of the employment game held by organization members are determinants of cooperative knowledge sharing and subsequently firm performance. I analyze survey data gathered from high-tech workers using both regression and path analysis techniques. The results from this study offer new insights into methods for measuring both the connections between knowledge work and firm performance and the perceptions critical for fostering collaborative knowledge work in high tech firms. Results of the study show a significant relationship between the game theory construct of reciprocity, knowledge building behavior and firm performance. The mediation model was weakly supported but shows potential usefulness for further research in the field of strategic human resource management

Web 2.0 applications have attracted considerable attention among knowledge workers as a means via which they can connect to peers for knowledge sharing. Web 2.0 use has potential to facilitate knowledge transfer in a much more improved way compared to previous communication tools. Despite of its benefits, there is limited research on adoption behaviour of these technologies. We propose a model linking knowledge sharing and seeking factors to web 2.0 acceptance among knowledge workers. Proposed research model is based on the extended attitude-behaviour framework. The model shows that attitudes towards sharing and seeking, determined by their salient belief sets, could have an impact on web 2.0 use. This study will make important contribution to IS area as it attempts to investigate the influnce of drivers from two motivational domain i.e. knowledge sharing and seeking on technology acceptance based on an integrated theoretical framework

The proliferation of social technology poses both a threat and an opportu- nity for the delivery of traditional case method learning in business schools. This paper extends the expectation confirmation model (ECM) to examine the possibility of delivering the case method learning via social technology. Our regression analysis shows that, in addition to affective factors, the social factor of information and knowledge sharing can help improve the accuracy of predicting a studentā€™s continuance intention of using social technology in case method learning. The analysis result leads to theoretical and empirical findings for business schools to consider adopting social technology as the next-generation tool for case method teaching

Abstract. Shifting the economy toward a knowledge-based one that requires skilled workers encourages the implementation of personal knowledge management. The automotive industry is closely related to knowledge-based activities and its technological developments require skilled employees. This study aimed to identify factors that can increase the effectiveness of personal knowledge management among sales officers in automotive companies. A survey was distributed to 115 employees at automotive dealers that implemented knowledge management at the head office level but not at their branch offices or dealerships. The studied effectiveness factors included trust, extrinsic rewards, technology application, knowledge sharing, and learning behavior. The collected data passed validity tests, reliability tests, model tests, and hypothesis testing. Thus, data triangulation was conducted via semi-structured interviews. This study found that trust affects knowledge sharing. Moreover, it was found that extrinsic rewards do not affect knowledge sharing and that the application of technology affects learning behavior. Notably, both knowledge sharing and learning behavior were found to affect personal knowledge management effectiveness. Another impactful factor was leadership. Intrinsic rewards make sales officers feel happier and more rewarded for sharing knowledge than financial benefits. Leadership is an aspect that must be considered since good leaders can encourage and create a positive learning environment. Keywords: Extrinsic rewards, knowledge sharing, learning behavior, personal knowledge management, technology use, trustAbstrak.

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is the learning methodology that uses two workplaces: educational institutions and industries. WBL connects the knowledge and approaches in workplaces by reciprocal sharing of the theory from educational institutions and expertise in technical skills by industries. This research explores the experience of connecting the knowledge and approaches in workplaces between institutions and the industry via three pilot programs that apply WBL methods: The Networking Advanced Diploma, Bachelor of Facility Management with Honors and Bachelor of Computer Engineering Technology (Medical) with Honors. This study employed a multiple case study of qualitative approach. The data collections in the field study were conducted using in-depth, face-to-face interviews and semi-structured protocol with the three participants from polytechnics and five participants from the industry. The findings showed that WBL could connect the knowledge and approaches in workplaces by sharing the educational information, technical skill and technology between institution and industry. The findings also show that industrial attachment and win-win situations happen in WBL. Based on the results of this study, hopefully, there are more ways to connect knowledge and approaches between institutions and the industry to ensure the sustainability of WBL programs
