The Development Of Optimization Methods For Knowledge Base Enrichment Processes

    Get PDF
The paper presents the concept of approach to the research and evaluation of the processes of intellectual activity associated with the enrichment of the knowledge base. A feature of the research of the process dynamics is the need of simultaneous consideration of such diverse factors as the complexity of information perception, the presence of the deviations of the response from the standard in the process of reproduction and accounting of the test time.A significant influence on the methods of optimization of the knowledge base enrichment process is exerted by a considerable duration of the task learning process. This causes the use of the multifactor experimental design theory to accelerate the progress towards the optimum. The research results can be used in the development of technologies for efficient knowledge assimilation, automation of skills, and also in the development of expert systems for diagnostics of the processes of intellectual activity

REGIONAL KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT FOR THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The article intends to present the achievements of a research Romanian project Knowledge management architecture in environmental, social and economic areas, designed to support the sustainable regional development strategy . The main goal of theproject is to improve the regional knowledge management, using a virtual framework for thedesign of the regional development strategy. The innovation introduced by this approachconsists in the integration of the regional actors’ views, in order to develop a realisticregional development strategy, on a democratic and scientific base. The challenge of thisvision is to create a virtual environment for the regional knowledge management andconsensus building related to the regional strategy development. The scientific base for thedesign of the regional development strategy is represented by an improved set of socio-economic indicators and benchmarking tools.regional sustainable development set of sustainable development indicators, embeddedknowledge, e-democracy, e-Government

Counting-on, trading and partitioning: effects of training and prior knowledge on performance on Base-10 tasks

    Get PDF
Factors affecting performance on Base-10 tasks were investigated in a series of four studies with a total of 453 children aged five to seven years. Training in counting-on was found to enhance child performance on Base-10 tasks (Studies 2, 3, and 4), while prior knowledge of counting-on (Study 1), trading (Studies 1 and 3) and partitioning (Studies 1 and 4) were associated with enhanced Base-10 performance. It emerged that procedural knowledge of counting-on, trading and partitioning can lead to improvements in procedural knowledge of the Base-10 system. The findings lend support to the model of iterative development of conceptual and procedural knowledge advanced by Rittle-Johnson, Siegler and Alibali (2001)

Knowledge Base Determinants of Technology Sourcing in the Clean Development Mechanism Projects

The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) is one of the three greenhouse gas emission reduction and trading instruments of the Kyoto Protocol (KP). The CDM allows governments and business entities from developed countries to offset their emissions liabilities by reducing or avoiding emissions in developing countries, where it is often cheaper to do so. Examples of CDM projects include the installation of various renewable energy producing facilities, cutting the GHG emissions in industry and waste management, or projects focused on improving energy efficiency. From the sustainable development perspectives CDM has been alleged as a new channel of transfer and diffusion of climate friendly technologies (CFT) in developing countries. However we are evidencing that the majority of the CDM projects deploy local sources of technology, which challenges the North- South technology transfer paradigm established under the sustainable development agenda of the KP. This paper is an attempt to explain technology sourcing patterns in CDM projects through employment of knowledge base determinants. On the basis of an empirical analysis we conclude that in countries with a stronger knowledge base in CFT, CDM project implementers tend to go for local and combined technologies and less for foreign technologies.Clean Development Mechanism, CDM, Kyoto Protocol, Technology

DEVELOPMENT OF INTEGRATED CATTLE GENOMICS KNOWLEDGE BASE

Systems biology approaches being applied to animal breeding represent an opportunity to derive greater benefits from animal production systems. The increasingly detailed investigations in systems biology have led to a large amount of data dispersed over various sources; therefore, a centralized knowledge base is in demand. In this study, we have integrated cattle genomics data of heterogeneous sources and types and developed a bioinformatics tool to study genotype-phenotype associations in cattle: http://integromics-time.com/integromics-database/. The tool enables revealing genomic overlaps within trait-associated loci and identification of potential functional candidates. It might be also used as a tool for planning genotype– phenotype research in cattle
