    Comparative analysis of interface sketch design tools in the context of User Experience

    The design stage plays a significant role in software development. Making skeleton models helps to understand the specification and requirements of the product. Design tools, as well as any other tools, should focus on User Experience. The aim of the publication is to compare tools for sketching interfaces taking into account User Experience. The main criterion for the evaluation of the tools was a test consisting in measuring the time and distance of a computer mouse during the execution of a given application sketch in 8 selected tools. Then, the respondents assessed the possibilities and experiences resulting from working in a given tool. This was supplemented by the assessment of the technical criteria. Ultimately, the best and the worst tools were selected according to the research subgroups. The level of education has been proven to influence the evaluation of interface sketch design tools

    OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) adalah sistem yang mampu membuat pencarian buku dan skripsi di perpustakaan menjadi lebih menarik dan efisien. Website katalog skripsi mampu menampilkan skripsi dari jurusan teknik informatika di perpusatakaan STMIK AMIKBANDUNG. Dengan informasi berupa judul, penyusun, npm, tahun, studi kasus, pembimbing, tema, dan abstraknya ditampilkan di halaman detail katalog skripsi. Untuk sisi petugas perpustakaan sistem ini mampu membuat lebih mudah dalam pengaturan skripsi jurusan teknik informatika yang sudah masuk ke perpustakaan. Metodologi yang digunakan dalam pembuatan website ini menggunakan metode waterfall. Kegiatan yang dilakukan antara lain analisis kebutuhan (requirement), desain sistem (system design), pengkodean dan uji coba program (coding and testing), implementasi program, dan pemeliharaan (maintenence). Perangkat lunak pendukung meliputi text editor (notepad++ atau sublime text), phpmyadmin, wampserver atau xamp, MySQL Workbench, astah community, Justinmind prototyper free. Website ini menggunakan teknologi HTML5 dan CSS3. Harapan penulis dengan lahirnya website ini mudah-mudahan dapat membantu para mahasiswa dalam mencari referensi dan acuan untuk mengerjakan skripsinya.   &nbsp

    A Review of Milestones in the History of GUI Prototyping Tools

    International audiencePrototyping is one of the core activities of User-Centered Design (UCD) processes and an integral component of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) research. Nonetheless, for many years, prototyping was synonym of paper-based mock-ups and only more recently we can say that dedicated tools for supporting prototyping activities really reach the market. In this paper we propose to analyze the evolution of prototyping tools proposed by the academic community to support research activities and prototyping tools that are aimed and improve the development process of commercial user interfaces. Thus, this paper presents a review of past and current graphical user interface prototyping tools, in order to set up the state of the art in this field, observing fundamental milestones of features over time. For that, we have screened publications presented since 1988 in some of the main HCI conferences and 113 commercial tools available on the web. The results enable a brief comparison of characteristics present in both academic and commercial tools, how they have evolved and what are the gaps that can provide insights for future research and development

    Mobile App Interface Development for Tourism

    This article aims to present the development of the interface creation process for a tourism application that works from a map, presenting several routes. Based on the usability principles, a scientific investigation was developed about the idea, the target audience to be served and the flow of screens. As a result, we obtained simple screens that were designed so that the user took as few steps as possible to reach his goal, making it easier to use and understand with the application. In conclusion, it was possible, putting into practice principles of usability and user experience, to obtain a satisfactory interface that fulfills its function

    Sistem pelayanan persalinan dan nifas merupakan salah satu proses pelaporan yang dibuat oleh bidan. Laporan ini memuat data-data mengenai ibu nifas dan bayi yang berada di wilayah kerja bidan tersebut. Laporan ini dibuat dengan ditulis tangan serta dilakukan perhitungan secara manual. Laporan tersebut akan diserahkan ke puskesmas. Jika dalam laporan tersebut terdapat kesalahan, bidan desa perlu melakukan koordinasi kepada pihak puskesmas untuk segera diperbaiki. Kinerja bidan kurang efisien dan laporan yang dihasilkan akan rawan rusak serta kurang akurat karena dilakukan secara manual. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, maka penulis membangun rancangan prototipe aplikasi penyusunan sistem pelayanan persalinan dan menggunakan metode throwaway prototyping. Prototipe ini akan membantu bidan desa dalam mendapatkan gambaran awal mengenai aplikasi yang akan dibangun. Aplikasi berbasis website dapat dijangkau secara luas dengan menggunakan berbagai jenis perangkat teknologi. Website akan dirancang menggunakan prototipe throwaway sehingga mendekati hasil akhir yang diinginkan. Teknik perancangan sistem yang digunakan adalah Unified Modeling Language (UML) dan pembuatan prototipe menggunakan aplikasi Justinmind Prototyper. Rancangan website ini juga hanya memuat menu-menu fungsional saja dengan minim aksesori sehingga bidan dapat dengan mudah memahami aplikasi

    Automatic Reuse of Prototypes in Software Engineering: A Survey of Available Tools

    The use of prototypes as an excellent mechanism for communication between software users has been fully accepted in the literature. Both the academic and business worlds agree on its use as a software technique, used primarily to capture requirements and as a means of communication with the user. However, often, prototypes are developed very quickly or without the collaboration of the users. This is one of the main reasons why the real power of the prototypes is not used in software development. The initial hypothesis of this research is that this problem occurs because prototypes are regarded as disposable milestones. This paper analyzes whether there are adequate tools on the market to help development teams to reuse prototypes as an exceedingly mechanism for starting and expediting new software development projects.     University students’ perceptions of designing mobile application prototypes for social innovation: Case study during a global pandemic

    There is a growing need for social innovation to address social challenges. Therefore, Information Systems students at tertiary institutions need to develop problem-solving and co-design skills. These skills may improve the design of products, such as mobile applications, to address social challenges. This research used design thinking for social innovation during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research design used an exploratory case study with mixed methods. Data was collected via an online survey from 31 third-year Information Systems at the University of the Western Cape. Students’ overall perceptions were positive for using design thinking for social innovation. The challenges were due to social distancing and performing all activities remotely. The findings may provide insights and recommendations to other universities planning to implement design thinking for social innovatio
