The intuitionistic temporal logic of dynamical systems
A dynamical system is a pair , where is a topological space and
is continuous. Kremer observed that the language of
propositional linear temporal logic can be interpreted over the class of
dynamical systems, giving rise to a natural intuitionistic temporal logic. We
introduce a variant of Kremer's logic, which we denote , and show
that it is decidable. We also show that minimality and Poincar\'e recurrence
are both expressible in the language of , thus providing a
decidable logic expressive enough to reason about non-trivial asymptotic
behavior in dynamical systems
A Note on Parameterised Knowledge Operations in Temporal Logic
We consider modeling the conception of knowledge in terms of temporal logic.
The study of knowledge logical operations is originated around 1962 by
representation of knowledge and belief using modalities. Nowadays, it is very
good established area. However, we would like to look to it from a bit another
point of view, our paper models knowledge in terms of linear temporal logic
with {\em past}. We consider various versions of logical knowledge operations
which may be defined in this framework. Technically, semantics, language and
temporal knowledge logics based on our approach are constructed. Deciding
algorithms are suggested, unification in terms of this approach is commented.
This paper does not offer strong new technical outputs, instead we suggest new
approach to conception of knowledge (in terms of time).Comment: 10 page
Incompleteness of a first-order Gödel logic and some temporal logics of programs
It is shown that the infinite-valued first-order Gödel logic G° based on the set of truth values {1/k: k ε w {0}} U {0} is not r.e. The logic G° is the same as that obtained from the Kripke semantics for first-order intuitionistic logic with constant domains and where the order structure of the model is linear. From this, the unaxiomatizability of Kröger's temporal logic of programs (even of the fragment without the nexttime operator O) and of the authors' temporal logic of linear discrete time with gaps follows
Deciding regular grammar logics with converse through first-order logic
We provide a simple translation of the satisfiability problem for regular
grammar logics with converse into GF2, which is the intersection of the guarded
fragment and the 2-variable fragment of first-order logic. This translation is
theoretically interesting because it translates modal logics with certain frame
conditions into first-order logic, without explicitly expressing the frame
conditions.
A consequence of the translation is that the general satisfiability problem
for regular grammar logics with converse is in EXPTIME. This extends a previous
result of the first author for grammar logics without converse. Using the same
method, we show how some other modal logics can be naturally translated into
GF2, including nominal tense logics and intuitionistic logic.
In our view, the results in this paper show that the natural first-order
fragment corresponding to regular grammar logics is simply GF2 without extra
machinery such as fixed point-operators.Comment: 34 page
First-order Goedel logics
First-order Goedel logics are a family of infinite-valued logics where the
sets of truth values V are closed subsets of [0, 1] containing both 0 and 1.
Different such sets V in general determine different Goedel logics G_V (sets of
those formulas which evaluate to 1 in every interpretation into V). It is shown
that G_V is axiomatizable iff V is finite, V is uncountable with 0 isolated in
V, or every neighborhood of 0 in V is uncountable. Complete axiomatizations for
each of these cases are given. The r.e. prenex, negation-free, and existential
fragments of all first-order Goedel logics are also characterized.Comment: 37 page
