Enterprise Content Management - A Literature Review

    Get PDF
Managing information and content on an enterprise-wide scale is challenging. Enterprise content management (ECM) can be considered as an integrated approach to information management. While this concept received much attention from practitioners, ECM research is still an emerging field of IS research. Most authors that deal with ECM claim that there is little scholarly literature available. After approximately one decade of ECM research, this paper provides an in-depth review of the body of academic research: the ECM domain, its evolution, and main topics are characterized. An established ECM research framework is adopted, refined, and explained with its associated elements and working definitions. On this basis, 68 articles are reviewed, classified, and concepts are derived. Prior research is synthesized and findings are integrated in a concept-centric way. Further, implications for research and practice, including future trends, are drawn

How Sustainable is COBIT 5? Insights from Theoretical Analysis and Empirical Survey Data

Increasing consideration of the concept of sustainability within information technology (IT) organizations and information systems (IS) management has lead to rising challenges regarding the application of existing, non- or partially sustainable IT process models. Although IT reference models exist within the scope of sustainable IS management, the integration of sustainability aspects into well-established IT reference models of IS management and IT governance still lacks theoretical foundation. The purpose of this paper is to explore the specificities of sustainability in the current COBIT 5 process reference model. Based on an argumentative-deductive analysis of COBIT 5, enriched with results of a survey, we examine the significance and specificities of sustainability in COBIT 5 from the user perspective. Our findings provide valuable insights referring to sustainability-related deficits of COBIT 5. Furthermore, this paper can serve as a theoretical basis for further research that eventually takes a sustainability-oriented adjustment of COBIT 5 into account

How Well Do Service Concepts Apply to Digital Services and Service Digitalization?

    Get PDF
This paper explores the extent to which typical service concepts apply to digital service (DS) and service digitalization. It defines service, service systems, digital, digitalization, digital objects, digital agents, digital service, and service digitalization. Application of those definitions to four real world cases explores how well concepts from the service literature describe DS and service digitalization

This research aimed to analyze the implementation of Information Technology (IT) management and to measure the level of IT management in Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT (Saving-Loan Cooperation and Sharia Financial Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil) using the COBIT framework 5. Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT is one of the Sharia Micro Finance Institutions in Central Java. The process capability model in COBIT 5 was used to measure the level of IT management in Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT. This research applied a qualitative approach using interviews and documentation to collect data. The results show that Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT has implemented the management process and met all the process domains in the COBIT 5 framework. Also, the level of IT governance at Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT is currently at level 3 (established process), the defined process level. Overall, the management process can only reach the level of "largely achieved" (L) so that it makes assessment unable to proceed to the next level, which is the deployment process. The results are expected to provide information and input to Bina Ummat Sejahtera KSPPS BMT in optimizing the implementation of its IT management.==================================================================================================Tata Kelola Teknologi Informasi pada Lembaga Keuangan Mikro Syariah: Evaluasi Berdasarkan Kerangka COBIT 5.

Crossing Boundaries: Organization Design Parameters Surrounding CDOs and Their Digital Transformation Activities

More and more companies are installing Chief Digital Officer (CDO) positions in order to support the progress of their digital transformation. Since the employment of CDOs may influence companies’ organizing logics, we conducted a multiple case study analysis to investigate the organization design parameters surrounding CDOs and their digital transformation activities. By examining the governance architectures in which the companies embed their CDOs (vertical dimension) and the horizontal coordination mechanisms utilized by CDOs (horizontal dimension), we shed light on two dimensions of companies’ organizing logics. Our results indicate that CDOs need sufficient influence in the organization to pursue transformation activities and that the vertical and horizontal dimensions of companies\u27 organizing logics are not independent of each other
