    Benchmarking the Interactions among Challenges for Blockchain Technology Adoption:A Circular Economy Perspective

    The chances of food contamination and spoilage get enhanced as it passes through various stages, and prudent consumers often need transparency on the origin of food products, their production and processing facilities utilized. Blockchain, an emerging digital technology, offers food traceability solutions to consumers and supply chain partners. But presently, blockchain adoption in Indian supply chains is in the nascent stages. The present study identified the challenges of adopting blockchain technology in Indian food supply chains and modelled them using Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM). As per the ISM, the ‘regulatory structure’ and ‘lack of realised need’ emerged as the most significant driving forces that impact other challenges, viz. ‘privacy breach issues’, ‘high costs’, ‘lack of skills’, ‘lack of technology’, ‘lack of trust’ and ‘lack of infrastructure’. These challenges have an impact on the ‘scalability problem’. The paper underlines the significance of enabling regulatory structure, improved information and communication technologies infrastructure, and convincing the supply chain stakeholders to use blockchain technology to resolve the underlying challenges and achieve its adoption and scalability in the Indian food industry.<br/

    A Hierarchical Framework of Challenges for Blockchain Adoption in Public Services. Implications for decision-makers

    This study attempts to identify critical challenges for blockchain adoption in government, particularly public-service delivery in India, a developing country context. Through an extensive literature review and focus-group discussions with policymakers and blockchain experts, we have identified 12 adoption challenges for Blockchain in public service delivery. We then collected data and analysed using interpretive structural modeling and Cross-Impact Matrix Multiplication Applied to Classification (MICMAC) Analysis to develop a hierarchical framework of the challenges. Our findings indicate that governments must first ensure legislative support for blockchain-based transactions. This research contributes to information systems strategic planning literature and provides a framework for policymakers to craft a strategic approach to facilitate blockchain adoption

    Modelling of Determinants of Logistics 4.0 Adoption: Insights from Developing Countries

    With the emergence of industry 4.0, several elements of the supply chain are transforming through the adoption of smart technologies such as blockchain, the internet of things and cyber physical systems. Logistics is considered one of the important elements of supply chain management and its digital transformation is crucial to the success of industry 4.0. In this circumstance, the existing logistics system needs to be upgraded with industry 4.0 technologies and emerge as logistics 4.0. However, the adoption/transformation of logistics 4.0 is dependent on several determinants that need to be explored. Therefore, this study has the prime objective of investigating the determinants of logistics 4.0 adoption in the context of a developing country, specifically, India. Initially, ten determinants of logistics 4.0 are established after a survey of the relevant literature and the input of industry experts. Further, a four-level structural model is developed among these determinants using the Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) approach. In addition, a fuzzy Matrix of Cross-Impact Multiplications Applied to Classification (MICMAC) analysis is also conducted for the categorization of these determinants as per their driving and dependence power. The findings show that top management supports, information technology infrastructure and financial investment are the most significant determinants towards logistics 4.0 adoption. This study facilitates the supply chain partners to focus on these high-level determinants for the effective adoption of logistics 4.0.     Detecting and developing new business opportunities in society 5.0 contexts: A sociotechnical approach

    Rapid technological evolution has become a great challenge for businesses and societies due to the openness provided by new digital technologies, platforms, and infrastructure and to the impacts of these innovations on how people work and live. The concept of a super-smart society (i.e., Society 5.0) comprises a fresh way to apply these innovations, in which human beings contribute to adapting technologies to daily activities in their society and making Society 5.0 ideas applicable to different areas of each individual’s life. Digital transformation and technological innovation are basic components of this paradigm. This study sought to develop a decision-support model that can help companies structure and prioritize new business opportunities within Society 5.0 contexts. The analysis system relies on a constructivist approach that promotes debates between specialists and combinations of methodologies such as cognitive mapping and interpretive structural modeling. The construction industry generates a significant portion of the waste going into landfills. The construction industry has failed to keep pace with productivity in the manufacturing industry. Through adoption of Lean management principles, the construction industry can become more sustainable while increasing productivity. The literature was evaluated for three concepts: Lean management principles interaction with sustainability, the current state of sustainability in the construction industry, and the current state of Lean management principles in the construction industry. Lean management philosophies interactions with sustainability has been heavily studied in the manufacturing industry, but rarely so in the construction industry. The construction industry has been slow to adopt Lean philosophies, as construction presents unique challenges not present in manufacturing.     Success Factors for the Adoption of Green Lean Six Sigma in Healthcare facility: An ISM-MICMAC Study

    Green Lean Six Sigma (GLSS) is a sustainable development approach that leads to improved patient care with improved safety and quality of service to patients. The aim of this study is the identification, study, modeling, and analysis of GLSS success factors for the Indian healthcare facility. Interpretive structural modeling (ISM) and Impact Matrix Cross-Reference Multiplication Applied to a Classification (MICMAC) analyses have been used to understand the hierarchical structure among the GLSS success factors. This enabled the development of dependency relationships between success factors, in particular, which factors support the development of other factors. Specifically, this study found that the success factors ‘commitment of management’ and ‘financial availability’ are the most critical to GLSS implementation success, as they support the development of all other success factors. Meanwhile ‘embedding sustainable measures at each stage of the service’; ‘the capability and effectiveness of real-time data collection; and ‘feedback and corrective actions’ most directly support the GLSS implementation in the healthcare facility, and serve as the final indicators of implementation progress. This research work is the first of its kind that deals with the identification and analysis of the prominent factors that foster the inclusive implementation of GLSS within the healthcare facility. The major implication of the present research work lies in suggesting a direction for practitioners to execute the GLSS approach through a systematic understanding of classification and structural relationships among different enablers. The study also facilitates healthcare managers to explore different Green Lean wastes in hospitals and challenges to sustainability pursuits in healthcare that assist in an organization’s efforts towards sustainable development

    Artificial intelligence in innovation research: A systematic review, conceptual framework, and future research directions

    Artificial Intelligence (AI) is increasingly adopted by organizations to innovate, and this is ever more reflected in scholarly work. To illustrate, assess and map research at the intersection of AI and innovation, we performed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of published work indexed in the Clarivate Web of Science (WOS) and Elsevier Scopus databases (the final sample includes 1448 articles). A bibliometric analysis was deployed to map the focal field in terms of dominant topics and their evolution over time. By deploying keyword co-occurrences, and bibliographic coupling techniques, we generate insights on the literature at the intersection of AI and innovation research. We leverage the SLR findings to provide an updated synopsis of extant scientific work on the focal research area and to develop an interpretive framework which sheds light on the drivers and outcomes of AI adoption for innovation. We identify economic, technological, and social factors of AI adoption in firms willing to innovate. We also uncover firms' economic, competitive and organizational, and innovation factors as key outcomes of AI deployment. We conclude this paper by developing an agenda for future research

    Culture of Communication in The Space of Co-Working Newsrooom of Online Media

    Technology has driven a change in the mainstream media editorial room towards the digital newsroom. Media that develops models of editorial space integrated with digital platforms has been widely practiced. Including, designing a newsroom work place to support the performance needed by media companies that are adaptive to change. The newsroom or editorial room no longer uses a cubical arrangement, but rather a shared work space. This research uses a constructionist paradigm according to a qualitative research approach with a phenomenological method. The results showed that the co-working space newsroom accelerated the coordination for the production of &#65533;breaking news&#65533;. Communication in the newsroom becomes without bureaucracy, consequently it becomes free of structure and a cross levels. The implication is that the newsroom culture of the co-working space becomes more flexible and fast in collaboration with fellow journalists and writers to raise the latest news issues. Another implication is that the newsroom supports the creative ideas of media actors

    Assessing the key enablers for Industry 4.0 adoption using MICMAC analysis: A case study

    Purpose: The aim of this research is to assess the key enablers of Industry 4.0 (I4.0) in the context of the Indian automobile industry. It is done to apprehend their comparative effect on executing I4.0 concepts and technology in manufacturing industries, in a developing country context. The progression to I4.0 grants the opportunity for manufacturers to harness the benefits of this industry generation. Design/methodology/approach: The literature related to I4.0 has been reviewed for the identification of key enablers of I4.0. The enablers were further verified by academic professionals. Additionally, key executive insights had been revealed by using interpretive structural modelling (ISM) model for the vital enablers unique to the Indian scenario. The authors have also applied MICMAC analysis to group the enablers of I4.0. Findings: The analysis of this study’s data from respondents using ISM provided us with seven levels of enabler framework. This study adds to the existing literature on I4.0 enablers and findings highlight the specificities of the territories in India context. The results show that top management is the major enabler to I4.0 implementation. Infact, it occupies the 7th layer of the ISM framework. Subsequently, government policies enable substantial support to develop smart factories in India. Practical implications: The findings of this work provide implementers of I4.0 in the automobile industry in the form of a robust framework. This framework can be followed by the automobile sector in enhancing their competency in the competitive market and ultimately provide a positive outcome for the Indian economic development led by these businesses. Furthermore, this work will guide decision-makers in enabling strategic integration of I4.0, opening doors for the development of new business opportunities as well. Originality/value: The study proposes a framework for Indian automobile industries. The automobile sector was chosen for this study as it covers a large percentage of the market share of the manufacturing industry in India. The existing literature does not address the broader picture of I4.0 and most papers do not provide validation of the data collected. This study thus addresses this research gap
