Fuzzy Interactive Approach for a Multi-objective Supplier Selection Problem under Robust Uncertainty

    Get PDF
In this paper, the authors proposed a multi-objective Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model for supplier selection problems. The main aim of the system under the investigation is to plan the companies to supply goods to achieve financial benefit by minimizing the total costs and satisfying the customers with on-time delivery and minimizing rejected items. In this case, some restrictions such as multi-product and multi-period conditions, shortage inventory constraints, and discount circumstances simultaneously are considered. Despite these efforts, due to the uncertainty nature of the problem, some parameters are considering as uncertainty data. For this aim, applying robust counterparts for uncertain parameters plays an essential role in real-world applications of this case. It is concluded that the feasibility and optimality properties of the usual solutions of real-world LPs can be severely affected by small changes of the data and that the robust optimization (RO) methodology can be successfully used to overcome this phenomenon

Stand der Literatur zur operativen Steuerung von Dienstleistungsprozessen

Services are characterised by the integration of customers while the service is produced. This integration leads to interruptions in the processing of a customer order until the customer provides the missing input. Since customer behaviour can be planned to a certain extent only challenges in planning an efficient delivery of a service process arise. This holds especially true for operational control as it has to correct deviances in the short-term. Thus, the following research question occurs: How can service processes be controlled efficiently taking customer integration into account? The aim of this working paper is to conduct a comprehensive literature review with regard to the research question. The results show that the majority of approaches are originate from manufacturing dealing with processes mainly conducted by machines and having stock-keeping possibilities. These manufacturing processes and the approaches typically do not deal with the complex influence of customer integration on operational control as in the case of service processes. It is concluded that a sufficient answer to control service processes is missing so far and thus potential research areas are addressed. --operational control, services, literature review

Outsourcing is wide used practice from large companies in the supply chain sector, especially, in transport industries, where world-wide the market deregulation is a continuing tendency towards cost control, service quality and emission mitigation. Many specialists and dedicated suppliers are already emerging with offers to take over parts of the transportation chain, while the booming of start-up companies promote a variety of data-driven applications towards operation efficiency, emission mitigation and revenues generation. Working capital and procurement cost could be more variable and transportation services are more on-demand response than ever in the past and by taken the benefits the digitalization era the shape of transportation business is changing fast, where non-transport revenues leverage by use of data are key driver of the transport companies’ business strategy. The balance between insourcing and outsourcing activities are a key challenge for transport sector and this chapter highlights innovation and success factors for the transport industry taking into consideration the digital era wave and best practices, providing recommendations and guidelines to managers, planners and decision makers

The usage of social media and e-reputation system in global supply chain : comparative cases from diamond & automotive industries

    Get PDF
The last decade witnesses a heave use of social media-based information systems in different fields of business such as logistics, procurement, and supply chain management. Managing these types of information systems, could help companies to outsource their supply chain functions in a global scale and enhance their competitive advantages. However, the digital performance of these activities inherent risks of inappropriate supplier selection process, lack of trust, limited information about supply conditions (e.g., pricing, shipping and timing). To address such challenges, this research explains how companies use e-reputation systems and social media to select their global trusted suppliers. Based on two-case evidence from British Diamond and Egyptian Automotive companies, the researchers conducted 20 interviews with purchasing and supply chain professionals. Chen & Lin’s reputation system model has been adopted to explain the process of selecting and evaluating a trusted supplier and to inform our data analysis. Our findings pointed diamond professionals’ lack of experience of how to use e-reputation systems and lack do not understand the role of social media-based ratings or referrals during the stages of selection suppliers’ discovery and approval. Though, automotive professionals find e-reputation system a strong tool to build goodwill, tacit credibility, competence and predictable trust. Ironically, both cases confirm that supply chain professional use these systems to re-evaluate and reselect their existing suppliers than to extend new supply networks. Fast Parameterless Ballistic Launch Point Estimation based on k-NN Search

    Get PDF
This paper discusses the problem of estimating a ballistic trajectory and the launch point by using a trajectory similarity search in a database. The major difficulty of this problem is that estimation accuracy is guaranteed only when an identical trajectory exists in the trajectory database (TD). Hence, the TD must comprise an impractically great number of trajectories from various launch points. Authors proposed a simplified trajectory database with a single launch point and a trajectory similarity search algorithm that decomposes trajectory similarity into velocity and position components. These similarities are applied k-NN estimation. Furthermore, they used the iDistance technique to partition the data space of the high-dimensional database for an efficient k-NN search. Authors proved the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm by experiment.Defence Science Journal, Vol. 64, No. 1, January 2014, DOI:10.14429/dsj.64.295

The results can be database in production planning to correspond with variation of swine price. The data was collected from Office of Agricultural Economics over consecutive months from the period January 2008 – December 2019. There are three forecasting models considering to be fitted with the data such as Winter’s additive exponential smoothing method, Box-Jenkins method and combined forecasting method. The mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root mean squared error (RMSE) were used to compare accuracy of model. The result showed that the most appropriated model was combined forecasting method. The forecasting values in January to December 2020-2021 from this model showed that the highest crossbred swine price would be in May to August period (67.06-68.47 baht per kilogram) and the lowest crossbred swine price would be in December to January period (60.47-60.80 baht per kilogram). Farmers can apply these forecasts for planning in swine production in accordance to low and high price period. Keywords: Crossbred Swine Price, Forecasting, Winter’s Method, Combined Forecastin

The Supply Chain Integration, and Product Modularity as Antecedents of the Market Valuation of Firms in Thai Solar Industry

    Get PDF
The main purpose of the current study is to examine the supply chain integration, and product modularity as antecedents of the market valuation. The study is carried out on the supply chain of the solar industry of Thailand. The reason why the solar industry is chosen is that the greater emphasis on rising oil prices, global regulatory environment, and climate change resulted in increased adoption of clean technology processes. Over the next few decades, the solar energy would be considered as an important technology stemming from fast-paced innovation and huge technological investment. Being an infant industry, the solar energy supply chain is evolving rapidly with the entrance of new as well as already established firms. The study has used the SEM-PLS to analyses the data gathered from the firms in the solar industry. The findings of the study argue that the aggregated product modularity affects the supply chain flexibility and supply chain’s ability of delivering product variety, across the supply chain. Such aggregated product modularity, being an important SC construct, shows the product modularity of supply chain as a whole
