Rule Based System for Diagnosing Wireless Connection Problems Using SL5 Object
There is an increase in the use of in-door wireless networking solutions via Wi-Fi and this increase infiltrated and utilized Wi-Fi enable devices, as well as smart mobiles, games consoles, security systems, tablet PCs and smart TVs. Thus the demand on Wi-Fi connections increased rapidly. Rule Based System is an essential method in helping using the human expertise in many challenging fields. In this paper, a Rule Based System was designed and developed for diagnosing the wireless connection problems and attain a precise decision about the cause of the problem. SL5 Object expert system language was used in developing the rule based system. An Evaluation of the rule based system was carried out to test its accuracy and the results were promising
Analysis of the Security of BB84 by Model Checking
Quantum Cryptography or Quantum key distribution (QKD) is a technique that
allows the secure distribution of a bit string, used as key in cryptographic
protocols. When it was noted that quantum computers could break public key
cryptosystems based on number theory extensive studies have been undertaken on
QKD. Based on quantum mechanics, QKD offers unconditionally secure
communication. Now, the progress of research in this field allows the
anticipation of QKD to be available outside of laboratories within the next few
years. Efforts are made to improve the performance and reliability of the
implemented technologies. But several challenges remain despite this big
progress. The task of how to test the apparatuses of QKD For example did not
yet receive enough attention. These devises become complex and demand a big
verification effort. In this paper we are interested in an approach based on
the technique of probabilistic model checking for studying quantum information.
Precisely, we use the PRISM tool to analyze the security of BB84 protocol and
we are focused on the specific security property of eavesdropping detection. We
show that this property is affected by the parameters of quantum channel and

Security in Wireless Sensor Networks: Issues and Challenges
Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is an emerging technology that shows great
promise for various futuristic applications both for mass public and military.
The sensing technology combined with processing power and wireless
communication makes it lucrative for being exploited in abundance in future.
The inclusion of wireless communication technology also incurs various types of
security threats. The intent of this paper is to investigate the security
related issues and challenges in wireless sensor networks. We identify the
security threats, review proposed security mechanisms for wireless sensor
networks. We also discuss the holistic view of security for ensuring layered

Protector Control PC-AODV-BH in The Ad Hoc Networks
In this paper we deal with the protector control that which we used to secure
AODV routing protocol in Ad Hoc networks. The considered system can be
vulnerable to several attacks because of mobility and absence of
infrastructure. While the disturbance is assumed to be of the black hole type,
we purpose a control named "PC-AODV-BH" in order to neutralize the effects of
malicious nodes. Such a protocol is obtained by coupling hash functions,
digital signatures and fidelity concept. An implementation under NS2 simulator
will be given to compare our proposed approach with SAODV protocol, basing on
three performance metrics and taking into account the number of black hole

Hierarchical Design Based Intrusion Detection System For Wireless Ad hoc Network
In recent years, wireless ad hoc sensor network becomes popular both in civil
and military jobs. However, security is one of the significant challenges for
sensor network because of their deployment in open and unprotected environment.
As cryptographic mechanism is not enough to protect sensor network from
external attacks, intrusion detection system needs to be introduced. Though
intrusion prevention mechanism is one of the major and efficient methods
against attacks, but there might be some attacks for which prevention method is
not known. Besides preventing the system from some known attacks, intrusion
detection system gather necessary information related to attack technique and
help in the development of intrusion prevention system. In addition to
reviewing the present attacks available in wireless sensor network this paper
examines the current efforts to intrusion detection system against wireless
sensor network. In this paper we propose a hierarchical architectural design
based intrusion detection system that fits the current demands and restrictions
of wireless ad hoc sensor network. In this proposed intrusion detection system
architecture we followed clustering mechanism to build a four level
hierarchical network which enhances network scalability to large geographical
area and use both anomaly and misuse detection techniques for intrusion
detection. We introduce policy based detection mechanism as well as intrusion

Analysing the EAP-TLS handshake and the 4-way handshake of the 802.11i standard
The IEEE 802.11i standard has been designed to enhance security in wireless networks. The EAP-TLS handshake aims to provide mutual authentication between supplicant and authentication server, and then derive the Pairwise Master Key (PMK). In the 4 -way handshake the supplicant and the authenticator use PMK to derive a fresh pairwise transient key (PTK). The PMK is not used directly for security while assuming the supplicant and authenticator have the same PMK before running 4- way handshake. In this paper, the EAP-TLS handshake and the 4-way handshake phases have been analysed with a proposed framework using Isabelle tool. In the analysis, we have found a new Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack in the 4-way handshake. The attack prevents the authenticator from receiving message 4 after the supplicant sends it out. This attack forces the authenticator to re-send the message 3 until time out and subsequently to de-authenticate supplicant. This paper has proposed improvements to the 4-way handshake to avoid the Denial-of-Service attack
