Interleaved Product LDPC Codes
Product LDPC codes take advantage of LDPC decoding algorithms and the high
minimum distance of product codes. We propose to add suitable interleavers to
improve the waterfall performance of LDPC decoding. Interleaving also reduces
the number of low weight codewords, that gives a further advantage in the error
floor region.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, accepted for publication in IEEE Transactions on

Partitioning qubits in hypergraph product codes to implement logical gates
The promise of high-rate low-density parity check (LDPC) codes to substantially reduce the overhead of fault-tolerant quantum computation depends on constructing efficient, fault-tolerant implementations of logical gates on such codes. Transversal gates are the simplest type of fault-tolerant gate, but the potential of transversal gates on LDPC codes has hitherto been largely neglected. We investigate the transversal gates that can be implemented in hypergraph product codes, a class of LDPC codes. Our analysis is aided by the construction of a symplectic canonical basis for the logical operators of hypergraph product codes, a result that may be of independent interest. We show that in these codes transversal gates can implement Hadamard (up to logical SWAP gates) and control-Z on all logical qubits. Moreover, we show that sequences of transversal operations, interleaved with error correction, allow implementation of entangling gates between arbitrary pairs of logical qubits in the same code block. We thereby demonstrate that transversal gates can be used as the basis for universal quantum computing on LDPC codes, when supplemented with state injection
Disjoint LDPC Coding for Gaussian Broadcast Channels
Low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes have been used for communication over a
two-user Gaussian broadcast channel. It has been shown in the literature that
the optimal decoding of such system requires joint decoding of both user
messages at each user. Also, a joint code design procedure should be performed.
We propose a method which uses a novel labeling strategy and is based on the
idea behind the bit-interleaved coded modulation. This method does not require
joint decoding and/or joint code optimization. Thus, it reduces the overall
complexity of near-capacity coding in broadcast channels. For different rate
pairs on the boundary of the capacity region, pairs of LDPC codes are designed
to demonstrate the success of this technique.Comment: 5 pages, 1 figure, 3 tables, To appear in Proc. IEEE International

Protograph-Based LDPC Code Design for Shaped Bit-Metric Decoding
A protograph-based low-density parity-check (LDPC) code design technique for
bandwidth-efficient coded modulation is presented. The approach jointly
optimizes the LDPC code node degrees and the mapping of the coded bits to the
bit-interleaved coded modulation (BICM) bit-channels. For BICM with uniform
input and for BICM with probabilistic shaping, binary-input symmetric-output
surrogate channels for the code design are used. The constructed codes for
uniform inputs perform as good as the multi-edge type codes of Zhang and
Kschischang (2013). For 8-ASK and 64-ASK with probabilistic shaping, codes of
rates 2/3 and 5/6 with blocklength 64800 are designed, which operate within
0.63dB and 0.69dB of continuous AWGN capacity for a target frame error rate of
1e-3 at spectral efficiencies of 1.38 and 4.25 bits/channel use, respectively.Comment: 9 pages, 10 figures. arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with
