In the first part of this paper we describe our experiments in the automatic and interactive search tasks of TRECVID 2006. We submitted five fully automatic runs, including a text baseline, two runs based on visual features, and two runs that combine textual and visual features in a graph model. For the interactive search, we have implemented a new video search interface with relevance feedback facilities, based on both textual and visual features. The second part is concerned with our approach to the high-level feature extraction task, based on textual information extracted from speech recogniser and machine translation outputs. They were aligned with shots and associated with high-level feature references. A list of significant words was created for each feature, and it was in turn utilised for identification of a feature during the evaluation

TopicViz: Semantic Navigation of Document Collections

When people explore and manage information, they think in terms of topics and themes. However, the software that supports information exploration sees text at only the surface level. In this paper we show how topic modeling -- a technique for identifying latent themes across large collections of documents -- can support semantic exploration. We present TopicViz, an interactive environment for information exploration. TopicViz combines traditional search and citation-graph functionality with a range of novel interactive visualizations, centered around a force-directed layout that links documents to the latent themes discovered by the topic model. We describe several use scenarios in which TopicViz supports rapid sensemaking on large document collections

Graph Representations for Higher-Order Logic and Theorem Proving

This paper presents the first use of graph neural networks (GNNs) for higher-order proof search and demonstrates that GNNs can improve upon state-of-the-art results in this domain. Interactive, higher-order theorem provers allow for the formalization of most mathematical theories and have been shown to pose a significant challenge for deep learning. Higher-order logic is highly expressive and, even though it is well-structured with a clearly defined grammar and semantics, there still remains no well-established method to convert formulas into graph-based representations. In this paper, we consider several graphical representations of higher-order logic and evaluate them against the HOList benchmark for higher-order theorem proving

An integrated ranking algorithm for efficient information computing in social networks

Social networks have ensured the expanding disproportion between the face of WWW stored traditionally in search engine repositories and the actual ever changing face of Web. Exponential growth of web users and the ease with which they can upload contents on web highlights the need of content controls on material published on the web. As definition of search is changing, socially-enhanced interactive search methodologies are the need of the hour. Ranking is pivotal for efficient web search as the search performance mainly depends upon the ranking results. In this paper new integrated ranking model based on fused rank of web object based on popularity factor earned over only valid interlinks from multiple social forums is proposed. This model identifies relationships between web objects in separate social networks based on the object inheritance graph. Experimental study indicates the effectiveness of proposed Fusion based ranking algorithm in terms of better search results.Comment: 14 pages, International Journal on Web Service Computing (IJWSC), Vol.3, No.1, March 201

PRSim: Sublinear Time SimRank Computation on Large Power-Law Graphs

{\it SimRank} is a classic measure of the similarities of nodes in a graph. Given a node uu in graph G=(V,E)G =(V, E), a {\em single-source SimRank query} returns the SimRank similarities s(u,v)s(u, v) between node uu and each node vVv \in V. This type of queries has numerous applications in web search and social networks analysis, such as link prediction, web mining, and spam detection. Existing methods for single-source SimRank queries, however, incur query cost at least linear to the number of nodes nn, which renders them inapplicable for real-time and interactive analysis. { This paper proposes \prsim, an algorithm that exploits the structure of graphs to efficiently answer single-source SimRank queries. \prsim uses an index of size O(m)O(m), where mm is the number of edges in the graph, and guarantees a query time that depends on the {\em reverse PageRank} distribution of the input graph. In particular, we prove that \prsim runs in sub-linear time if the degree distribution of the input graph follows the power-law distribution, a property possessed by many real-world graphs. Based on the theoretical analysis, we show that the empirical query time of all existing SimRank algorithms also depends on the reverse PageRank distribution of the graph.} Finally, we present the first experimental study that evaluates the absolute errors of various SimRank algorithms on large graphs, and we show that \prsim outperforms the state of the art in terms of query time, accuracy, index size, and scalability.Comment: ACM SIGMOD 201

Solusi Permasalahan Komputasi Skala Besar Pada Software Adobe Flash Dalam Perancangan Media Pembelajaran Pencarian Eulerian Circuit

Adobe Flash is a software that is used to build an interactive contents that can be attached in other things, such as presentations, games and e-learning. The Eulerian Circuit Search Instructional Media is one of examples in using Adobe Flash in building an interactive instructional media to solve graph theory problems. Visually, Adobe Flash is better than other programming software in general and it is the most suitable one for graph theory, as it uses graphics and visuals to solve problems. The weakness of Adobe Flash is when doing large scale calculations; such as when testing algorithms to find Eulerian circuits. Then an idea came about to complete the large scale calculations in Adobe Flash, which is commonly known as script time limit, with using other methodologies by changing script time limit on the settings, algorithms, partition the processes, and utulize the timers within the objects in the actionscript that handles the search algorithms of searching Eulerian circuit

Elaboration of a multimedia book on the importance of statistics and presentation of the information for the statistical subjects taught at the FESC

[EN] Interactive digital book was produced on the topics importance of statistics and presentation of information, for the statistical subjects taught at the Faculty of Higher Studies Cuautitlán, the book was made with an interactive approach, that is, in most chapters there are HTML5 objects that students can access by connecting to the Internet from any mobile device or PC. The themes of this interactive book were statistics, variables and measurement levels, pie graph, bar graph, histogram, dot graph, stem and leaf graph, line graph and form. The interactive digital book contemplates that each chapter indicates prerequisites, learning objectives, written development of the topic in the form of questions and answers, videos with explanation, interactive exercises, widget (html 5, interactive galleries, interactive images, etc.) review questions, internet activities and resources. The interactive digital book will offer students a full-screen experience with galleries, videos, interactive diagrams, mathematical expressions and more, these books bring content to life in ways that a printed page cannot. Students will no longer be limited to static images illustrating traditional texts, but can now immerse themselves in an image with interactive captions, bringing an answer to life in a chapter review. They can flip through a book by simply sliding a finger on the screen. They can also highlight text, take notes, search for content, and find definitions in a glossary very easily. Plus, they can take them wherever they go, allowing students to learn not only within the classroom walls, but also in the virtual space that these books make up.Thanks to the PAPIME - 104420 project for the support in the realization of this work.Garcia, O.; Pineda, M.; Aguilar, A.; León, F.
