    A Product Line Architecture for Evolving Intelligent Component Services in Tourism Information Systems

    The challenge facing developers of Tourism Information Systems (TIS) is the need to evolve more intelligent and dependable tourism support services. However, these kinds of information systems have largely identical functionalities and delivers almost similar services. The systems differ mostly in the customized information contents they deliver and the scope of the tourism interest that is being promoted. The peculiarity of the e-Tourism domain makes it ideal for product line development. In this paper, a reference Tourism Product Line Architecture (TPLA) as a platform for evolving intelligent component services is proposed. The TPLA is a layered architecture of core reusable components that can be leveraged for the development of a TIS product family. The architecture is extensible and its components are formally specified as possessing intrinsic intelligent attributes and the semantic awareness that are desirable for the next generation of Tourism Information Systems

    The constant development in technology, communication and particularly the Internet, has revolutionized the entire tourism industry, by generating new business models, restructuring the distribution channels, reshaping the production process involved in tourism industry and last but not least has influenced the suppliers of touristic services as well as the stakeholders. In this work I have tried to enhance the implications of electronic tourism for the visitors, the tourism operators, highlighting the informational systems which serve the touristic services. E-tourism comes to support the tourists by providing specialized sites and software which reduce the time necessary for the touristic destinations , making easier the process of booking or renting a car or help planning the trip and making a decision. One of the most common problems associated with the developing distribution is the large amount of information available for the client and to be able to explore it, I have presented intelligent agents with all the advantages this new artificial technology brings along.e-tourism, portal, intelligent agents.

    "This article presents a literature review of Intelligent Systems applications in Tourism in different parts of the world. The review focuses on the most relevant methods in free and paid databases, in English and Spanish. Most of the works deal with methodologies based on artificial intelligence, such as expert systems, fuzzy logic, machine learning, data mining, neural networks, genetic algorithms. In the review, several characteristics of the systems have been taken into account, such as, knowledge base, actors in the operation of the system, types of tourists, usefulness or not in space and time. According to the review it was found that most of the researches are deterministic models, the most used methodology in tourism are the expert systems based on rules, observing an emerging innovation in metaheuristics, mainly genetic algorithms and intelligent systems with knowledge base based on optimization methods for route choice or optimal visit plan. It is expected that this work serves to give a general perspective on the application of intelligent systems in the area of tourism, as well as a work that consolidates background for work in this area of research.

    Towards Smarter Management of Overtourism in Historic Centres Through Visitor-Flow Monitoring

    Historic centres are highly regarded destinations for watching and even participating in diverse and unique forms of cultural expression. Cultural tourism, according to the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), is an important and consolidated tourism sector and its strong growth is expected to continue over the coming years. Tourism, the much dreamt of redeemer for historic centres, also represents one of the main threats to heritage conservation: visitors can dynamize an economy, yet the rapid growth of tourism often has negative effects on both built heritage and the lives of local inhabitants. Knowledge of occupancy levels and flows of visiting tourists is key to the efficient management of tourism; the new technologies—the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and geographic information systems (GIS)—when combined in interconnected networks represent a qualitative leap forward, compared to traditional methods of estimating locations and flows. A methodology is described in this paper for the management of tourism flows that is designed to promote sustainable tourism in historic centres through intelligent support mechanisms. As part of the Smart Heritage City (SHCITY) project, a collection system for visitors is developed. This makes having access to ;credible;"i\nd authentic information about tourism products before the actual experience very valuable. An Ontology being a formal, explicit specification of concepts of a domain provides a viable platform for the development of credible knowledge-based tourism information services. In this paper, we present an approach aimed at enabling assorted intelligent reco=endations services in tourism support systems using ontologies. A suite of tourism ontologies was developed and engaged to enable a prototypical e-tourism system with various knowledge-based reco=endation capabilities. A usability evaluation of the system yields encouraging results as a demonstration of the viability of our approach

    Objective: To systematize methodologies that harmonize the integrated and intelligent management of tourist destinations with geographic information, for timely and accurate decision making, contributing to quality in the context of the cantonal tourist territories of the province, Manabí-Ecuador.Methodology/approach: The paradigms of tourism destination management that reconciles all participants, policies, components and parts of the system; expressed in an integrated management. The use of information and communication technologies in an intelligent management that welcomes tourists, communities and managers. Everything in tourism is tied to space and territory, the information systems that are used need to respond to the “where” by means of analysis tools and representation of the places.Originality/Relevance: The sequence of steps of various methodologies and systematized theory, focus the integrated and intelligent management of tourist destinations, in the transit from the parts to the whole.     The world tourism industry is experiencing the worst situation in its history due to the health crisis caused by COVID-19. The problem is particularly acute in countries such as Spain, which had an important tourism sector that directly employed about 3 million people, 13% of total employment, and accounted for about 12% of its GDP. In order to recover, Spain is betting on the model of Intelligent Tourism Destinations (ITD) and the ITD Network that encompasses these destinations. The ITD methodology is based on five main lines of action: Governance, Innovation, Technology, Sustainability and Accessibility. It also highlights the importance of knowledge and the use of Tourism Intelligence Systems that allow a correct decision making

    A Semantic Grid Oriented to E-Tourism

    With increasing complexity of tourism business models and tasks, there is a clear need of the next generation e-Tourism infrastructure to support flexible automation, integration, computation, storage, and collaboration. Currently several enabling technologies such as semantic Web, Web service, agent and grid computing have been applied in the different e-Tourism applications, however there is no a unified framework to be able to integrate all of them. So this paper presents a promising e-Tourism framework based on emerging semantic grid, in which a number of key design issues are discussed including architecture, ontologies structure, semantic reconciliation, service and resource discovery, role based authorization and intelligent agent.     IMPROVING THE DEPENDABILITY OF DESTINATION RECOMMENDATIONS USING INFORMATION ON SOCIAL ASPECTS

    Prior knowledge of the social aspects of prospective destinations can be very influential in making travel destination decisions, especially in instances where social concerns do exist about specific destinations. In this paper, we describe the implementation of an ontology-enabled Hybrid Destination Recommender System (HDRS) that leverages an ontological description of five specific social attributes of major Nigerian cities, and hybrid architecture of content-based and case-based filtering techniques to generate personalised top-n destination recommendations. An empirical usability test was conducted on the system, which revealed that the dependability of recommendations from Destination Recommender Systems (DRS) could be improved if the semantic representation of social attributes information of destinations is made a factor in the destination recommendation process
