Blockchain-assisted Twin Migration for Vehicular Metaverses: A Game Theory Approach
As the fusion of automotive industry and metaverse, vehicular metaverses
establish a bridge between the physical space and virtual space, providing
intelligent transportation services through the integration of various
technologies, such as extended reality and real-time rendering technologies, to
offer immersive metaverse services for Vehicular Metaverse Users (VMUs). In
vehicular metaverses, VMUs update vehicle twins (VTs) deployed in RoadSide
Units (RSUs) to obtain metaverse services. However, due to the mobility of
vehicles and the limited service coverage of RSUs, VT migration is necessary to
ensure continuous immersive experiences for VMUs. This process requires RSUs to
contribute resources for enabling efficient migration, which leads to a
resource trading problem between RSUs and VMUs. Moreover, a single RSU cannot
support large-scale VT migration. To this end, we propose a blockchain-assisted
game approach framework for reliable VT migration in vehicular metaverses.
Based on the subject logic model, we first calculate the reputation values of
RSUs considering the freshness of interaction between RSUs and VMUs. Then, a
coalition game based on the reputation values of RSUs is formulated, and RSU
coalitions are formed to jointly provide bandwidth resources for reliable and
large-scale VT migration. Subsequently, the RSU coalition with the highest
utility is selected. Finally, to incentivize VMUs to participate in VT
migration, we propose a Stackelberg model between the selected coalition and
VMUs. Numerical results demonstrate the reliability and effectiveness of the

Mobile Edge Computing
This is an open access book. Generative AI-empowered Simulation for Autonomous Driving in Vehicular Mixed Reality Metaverses
In the vehicular mixed reality (MR) Metaverse, the distance between physical
and virtual entities can be overcome by fusing the physical and virtual
environments with multi-dimensional communications in autonomous driving
systems. Assisted by digital twin (DT) technologies, connected autonomous
vehicles (AVs), roadside units (RSU), and virtual simulators can maintain the
vehicular MR Metaverse via digital simulations for sharing data and making
driving decisions collaboratively. However, large-scale traffic and driving
simulation via realistic data collection and fusion from the physical world for
online prediction and offline training in autonomous driving systems are
difficult and costly. In this paper, we propose an autonomous driving
architecture, where generative AI is leveraged to synthesize unlimited
conditioned traffic and driving data in simulations for improving driving
safety and traffic efficiency. First, we propose a multi-task DT offloading
model for the reliable execution of heterogeneous DT tasks with different
requirements at RSUs. Then, based on the preferences of AV's DTs and collected
realistic data, virtual simulators can synthesize unlimited conditioned driving
and traffic datasets to further improve robustness. Finally, we propose a
multi-task enhanced auction-based mechanism to provide fine-grained incentives
for RSUs in providing resources for autonomous driving. The property analysis
and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed mechanism and
architecture are strategy-proof and effective, respectively
Collaborative Reinforcement Learning for Multi-Service Internet of Vehicles
Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a recently introduced paradigm aiming at extending the Internet of Things (IoT) toward the vehicular scenario in order to cope with its specific requirements. Nowadays, there are several types of vehicles, with different characteristics, requested services, and delivered data types. In order to efficiently manage such heterogeneity, Edge Computing facilities are often deployed in the urban environment, usually co-located with the Roadside Units (RSUs), for creating what is referenced as Vehicular Edge Computing (VEC). In this paper, we consider a joint network selection and computation offloading optimization problem in multi-service VEC environments, aiming at minimizing the overall latency and the consumed energy in an IoV scenario. Two novel collaborative Q-learning based approaches are proposed, where Vehicle-to-Infrastructure (V2I) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communication paradigms are exploited, respectively. In the first approach, we define a collaborative Q-learning method in which, through V2I communications, several vehicles participate in the training process of a centralized Q-agent. In the second approach, by exploiting the V2V communications, each vehicle is made aware of the surrounding environment and the potential offloading neighbors, leading to better decisions in terms of network selection and offloading. In addition to the tabular method, an advanced deep learning-based approach is also used for the action value estimation, allowing to handle more complex vehicular scenarios. Simulation results show that the proposed approaches improve the network performance in terms of latency and consumed energy with respect to some benchmark solutions
Vehicle as a Service (VaaS): Leverage Vehicles to Build Service Networks and Capabilities for Smart Cities
Smart cities demand resources for rich immersive sensing, ubiquitous
communications, powerful computing, large storage, and high intelligence
(SCCSI) to support various kinds of applications, such as public safety,
connected and autonomous driving, smart and connected health, and smart living.
At the same time, it is widely recognized that vehicles such as autonomous
cars, equipped with significantly powerful SCCSI capabilities, will become
ubiquitous in future smart cities. By observing the convergence of these two
trends, this article advocates the use of vehicles to build a cost-effective
service network, called the Vehicle as a Service (VaaS) paradigm, where
vehicles empowered with SCCSI capability form a web of mobile servers and
communicators to provide SCCSI services in smart cities. Towards this
direction, we first examine the potential use cases in smart cities and
possible upgrades required for the transition from traditional vehicular ad hoc
networks (VANETs) to VaaS. Then, we will introduce the system architecture of
the VaaS paradigm and discuss how it can provide SCCSI services in future smart
cities, respectively. At last, we identify the open problems of this paradigm
and future research directions, including architectural design, service
provisioning, incentive design, and security & privacy. We expect that this
paper paves the way towards developing a cost-effective and sustainable

FORESAM—FOG paradigm-based resource allocation mechanism for vehicular clouds
The Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) has the objective quality of transportation improvement through transportation system monitoring and management and makes the trip more comfortable and safer for drivers and passengers. The mobile clouds can assist the ITS in handling the resource management problem. However, resource allocation management in an ITS is challenging due to vehicular network characteristics, such as high mobility and dynamic topology. With that in mind, we propose the FORESAM, a mechanism for resources management and allocation based on a set of FOGs which control vehicular cloud resources in the urban environment. The mechanism is based on a more accurate mathematical model (Multiple Attribute Decision), which aims to assist the allocation decision of resources set that meets the period requested service. The simulation results have shown that the proposed solution allows a higher number of services, reducing the number of locks of services with its accuracy. Furthermore, its resource allocation is more balanced the provided a smaller amount of discarded services
