Writer Identification for chinese handwriting
Abstract Chinese handwriting identification has become a hot research in pattern recognition and image processing. In this paper, we present overview of relevant papers from the previous related studies until to the recent publications regarding to the Chinese Handwriting Identification. The strength, weaknesses, accurateness and comparison of well known approaches are reviewed, summarized and documented. This paper provides broad spectrum of pattern recognition technology in assisting writer identification tasks, which are at the forefront of forensic and biometrics based on identification application
A Meta-Review of Indoor Positioning Systems
An accurate and reliable Indoor Positioning System (IPS) applicable to most indoor scenarios has been sought for many years. The number of technologies, techniques, and approaches in general used in IPS proposals is remarkable. Such diversity, coupled with the lack of strict and verifiable evaluations, leads to difficulties for appreciating the true value of most proposals. This paper provides a meta-review that performed a comprehensive compilation of 62 survey papers in the area of indoor positioning. The paper provides the reader with an introduction to IPS and the different technologies, techniques, and some methods commonly employed. The introduction is supported by consensus found in the selected surveys and referenced using them. Thus, the meta-review allows the reader to inspect the IPS current state at a glance and serve as a guide for the reader to easily find further details on each technology used in IPS. The analyses of the meta-review contributed with insights on the abundance and academic significance of published IPS proposals using the criterion of the number of citations. Moreover, 75 works are identified as relevant works in the research topic from a selection of about 4000 works cited in the analyzed surveys
Offshore Business Processing Outsourcing by Australian Enterprises to Service Providers Located in India
The primary research question for this PhD was: âWhat are the key factors that contribute to the success of offshore business process outsourcing (OBPO) by Australian and international organisations to service providers located in India and the Philippines?â A qualitative research design in the positivist paradigm was adopted, involving longitudinal case studies of five client companies. A primary contribution was identification of critical success factors for management of OBPO at the individual company level
Cities' Identity Through Architecture and Art
Intended to be a guide for academics, scholars, and interested leaders, this book was designed
to critically assess issues related to architectural identity, the city as a scene, the city as an
organism, the city as a subject, and the planning or rather approaching of one.
A pressing issue for many researchers in the field, the book discusses the negative repercussions
resulting from globalization. Studies have indicated that globalization, despite all the
positive effects, has resulted in a loss of identity within a city. As a city develops over time,
its identity is evolving as well and may even be lost due to rapid and constant changes it is
subjected to. Discussed as well are examples and tendencies in dealing with urban identities
as well as the transformation of cities and urban cultures mentioned in terms of form, identity,
and art.
This book is a combination of innovative research submitted to a conference on Citiesâ
Identity Through Architecture and Arts (CITAA) whereas scholars from all over the world
gather in one venue to discuss cultural, historical, and economic issues of the city. Thus, the
book offers a collective and global solution that is applicable on a universal level.
The research presented in this book was conducted by authors, or rather participants of
the conference from, three different continents of the world and organized by IEREK. It was
a distinct opportunity for them to share their thoughts with leading scholars and professionals
in the field of Architecture, Arts, and Planning.
The research and materials in this book are directed at those who are actively engaged in
the decision-making processes and to a heterogeneous audience who has an interest to critically
examine all the new literature available in the field.
A special word of thanks should be made to the editors of this book and to all the authors
and co-authors of the chapters who collectively provided the academic community with
unique and increasingly valuable literature
Sustainability Ethics : Ecology, Economy & Ethics : International Conference SusCon III, Shillong/India
"âSustainable Developmentâ is the goal 2015-2030 of the global community of states,
adopted by the United Nations. This book shows how ecology, economy and ethics are all needed to reach these goals. Understanding a concept like âsustainabilityâ requires an understanding not only of what we are seeking to âsustainâ, but also how manâs activities and needs are implicated in and can threaten the future of these biological systems. It is for this first point that we are concerned with Ecology, and for the second that we are concerned with Economics. Ethics then shows the orientation by values and virtues how human being should interact with the environment.
The articles in this book come from one of the key countries of the world, India, whose population represents almost 20% of the worldâs population. Questions surrounding economic development and environmental sustainability are fundamental to understanding the countryâs future, and how it will tackle difficult issues, like the eradication of poverty. This publication represents a selection of articles presented at the Third Annual International Conference on Sustainability SusCon III in Shillong, India, which took place between the 6-8 March 2013, hosted by the Indian Institute of Management, a leading institute in the North East of India.
Islam and science :a study of major perspectives.
To our knowledge, there exists no work that deals exclusively
with the theme of our research problem. However, there is no dearth
of literature that deals with various aspects of Islam and science. The
holy QurâÄn, primarily the Book of HidÄyah, is replete with ÄyÄt that
provide broader framework on various natural phenomenon and
scientific facts. In a number of Ahadith-i-Nabwi (S.A.W.S) one can
derive sufficient inspiration for scientific enquiry. We shall, here,
precisely refer to some prominent works that touch upon directly or
indirectly some of the aspects of the problem under investigation in
the present work
