    Employee Monitoring System Using Android Smart Phone

    The Rapid growth of android applications is creating a great impact on our lives. The aim of this research Employee monitoring system using android mobile is, to automate the employee monitoring process in company by their Employees office cell phone and also improve the organizational growth of the company. In this paper, we discuss about the design and Implementing admin application, employee application and Centralized server for monitored company employee’s using android technology. In this system we are providing dynamic database utility which retrieves data or information from centralized database. The android application in smart phone contains all information about the employee phone uses like their all Employee SMS history, Employee call Logs, Employee Locations, Data uses, Web browser history, and unauthorized data uses details. All communication between the Employee phone and the admin is done through 3G network technology. This application is user-friendly. This system improves accuracy in managing employees of the company by saving time, reducing manager efforts; avoid the unnecessary use of company phones which are provided to the Employee for their office use only. This System is also connects to the centralized server for accessing detailed history of employee phone uses.     Wireless communication, sensing, and REM: A security perspective

    The diverse requirements of next-generation communication systems necessitate awareness, flexibility, and intelligence as essential building blocks of future wireless networks. The awareness can be obtained from the radio signals in the environment using wireless sensing and radio environment mapping (REM) methods. This is, however, accompanied by threats such as eavesdropping, manipulation, and disruption posed by malicious attackers. To this end, this work analyzes the wireless sensing and radio environment awareness mechanisms, highlighting their vulnerabilities and provides solutions for mitigating them. As an example, the different threats to REM and its consequences in a vehicular communication scenario are described. Furthermore, the use of REM for securing communications is discussed and future directions regarding sensing/REM security are highlighted

    Location-Enabled IoT (LE-IoT): A Survey of Positioning Techniques, Error Sources, and Mitigation

    The Internet of Things (IoT) has started to empower the future of many industrial and mass-market applications. Localization techniques are becoming key to add location context to IoT data without human perception and intervention. Meanwhile, the newly-emerged Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) technologies have advantages such as long-range, low power consumption, low cost, massive connections, and the capability for communication in both indoor and outdoor areas. These features make LPWAN signals strong candidates for mass-market localization applications. However, there are various error sources that have limited localization performance by using such IoT signals. This paper reviews the IoT localization system through the following sequence: IoT localization system review -- localization data sources -- localization algorithms -- localization error sources and mitigation -- localization performance evaluation. Compared to the related surveys, this paper has a more comprehensive and state-of-the-art review on IoT localization methods, an original review on IoT localization error sources and mitigation, an original review on IoT localization performance evaluation, and a more comprehensive review of IoT localization applications, opportunities, and challenges. Thus, this survey provides comprehensive guidance for peers who are interested in enabling localization ability in the existing IoT systems, using IoT systems for localization, or integrating IoT signals with the existing localization sensors

    Evaluating indoor positioning systems in a shopping mall : the lessons learned from the IPIN 2018 competition

    The Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN) conference holds an annual competition in which indoor localization systems from different research groups worldwide are evaluated empirically. The objective of this competition is to establish a systematic evaluation methodology with rigorous metrics both for real-time (on-site) and post-processing (off-site) situations, in a realistic environment unfamiliar to the prototype developers. For the IPIN 2018 conference, this competition was held on September 22nd, 2018, in Atlantis, a large shopping mall in Nantes (France). Four competition tracks (two on-site and two off-site) were designed. They consisted of several 1 km routes traversing several floors of the mall. Along these paths, 180 points were topographically surveyed with a 10 cm accuracy, to serve as ground truth landmarks, combining theodolite measurements, differential global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and 3D scanner systems. 34 teams effectively competed. The accuracy score corresponds to the third quartile (75th percentile) of an error metric that combines the horizontal positioning error and the floor detection. The best results for the on-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 11.70 m (Track 1) and 5.50 m (Track 2), while the best results for the off-site tracks showed an accuracy score of 0.90 m (Track 3) and 1.30 m (Track 4). These results showed that it is possible to obtain high accuracy indoor positioning solutions in large, realistic environments using wearable light-weight sensors without deploying any beacon.     Listed in 2019 Dean's List of Exceptional ThesesIndoor positioning system (IPS) have received significant interest from the research community over the past decade. However, this has not eventuated into widespread adoption of IPS and few commercial solutions exist. Integration into Smart Homes could allow for secondary services including location-based services, targeted user experiences and intrusion detection, to be enabled using the existing underlying infrastructure. Since New Zealand has an aging population, we must ensure that the elderly are well looked after. An IPS solution could detect whether a person has been immobile for an extended period and alert medical personnel. A major shortcoming of existing IPS is their reliance on end-users to undertake a significant infrastructure investment to facilitate the localization tasks. An IPS that does not require extensive installation and calibration procedures, could potentially see significant uptake from end users. In order to expedite the widespread adoption of IPS technology, this thesis focuses on four major areas of improvement, namely: infrastructure reuse, reduced node density, algorithm improvement and reduced end user calibration requirements. The work presented demonstrates the feasibility of utilizing existing wireless and lighting infrastructure for positioning and implements novel spring-relaxation and potential fields-based localization approaches that allow for robust target tracking, with minimal calibration requirements. The developed novel localization algorithms are benchmarked against the existing state of the art and show superior performance
