Level of Technology Implementation and the Personality Traits of Adventist School Principals

    Get PDF
Previous studies analyzed how personality traits relate to education, but not in relation to technology implementation. Limited knowledge can lead to inadequate professional development. This study provided insight on the “level of technology implementation” (LoTi) and the personality traits of private school principals. The theoretical frameworks of this research were the Big Five Personality Trait Model and Concerns-Based Adoption Model. The research study answered the question of the relationship, using Kendall\u27s Tau-b, between the LoTi and each of the personality traits: extraversion, openness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and agreeableness of Adventist school principals using a quantitative, non-parametric, correlational study approach. Every Adventist school principal within North America (N=799) were invited to participate. Sixty-six completed the LoTi Digital-Age Survey for Leaders and the Big Five Inventory. Findings indicated that a weak-moderate correlation was found on the personality traits of extraversion (τb = .253, p = .007) and openness (τb = .229, p = .017); no correlation was found on the personality traits of agreeableness (τb = .118, p = .215), conscientiousness (τb = .177, p = .063), and neuroticism (τb = -.157, p = .095). It is recommended that future research studies include teacher\u27s personality traits and segregation of data by age or years of experience in education. Findings affected positive social change by providing information that could be used to provide appropriate professional development with less emphasis on trainings that focus on agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism and more on those that help principals be more open to both the process and the actual technological change

ABSTRACT Alfi Hasanah, (2023): Exploring the Implementation of Autonomous Learning through the Use of ICT in Learning English. This research were aimed to explain how is the implementation of autonomous learning through the use of ICT in learning English at SMK Perpajakan Riau and to explain what are the factors influencing the implementation of autonomous learning through the use of ICT in learning English at the SMK Perpajakan Riau. This research used qualitative research approach with a case study research design. The participants of this research were 29 students of tenth grade students at SMK Perpajakan Riau. Purposive sampling was used to determine the sample of the research. In collecting the data, the researcher used observation, interview, and documentation. Finally the result showed that, the implementation has occurred systematically from the teacher and students. The implementation of autonomous learning through the use of ICT applied by the teacher was suitable with the characteristics of autonomous learning and some related literatures. The students also followed the process very well. The influencing factors of the autonomous learning based on the implementation come from the learners, the teacher, the task and the environment. In conclusion, the teacher and students implementation of autonomous learning through the use of ICT showed the suitability of the process and the characteristics. Assessment of Climate Change Impacts on Water Quantity and Quality at Small Scale Watersheds

    Get PDF
This book was inspired by the Hydrology–H030 Session of the 2019 AGU (America Geophysical Union) Fall Meeting. In recent years, simulating potential future vulnerability and sustainability of water resources due to climate change are mainly focused on global and regional scale watersheds by using climate change scenarios. These scenarios may have low resolution and may not be accurate for local watersheds. This book addresses the impacts of climate change upon water quantity and quality at small scale watersheds. Emphases are on climate-induced water resource vulnerabilities (e.g., flood, drought, groundwater depletion, evapotranspiration, and water pollution) and methodologies (e.g., computer modeling, field measurement, and management practice) employed to mitigation and adapt climate change impacts on water resources. Application implications to local water resource management are also discussed in this book

Indigenous peoples, in Taiwan and worldwide, need to come up with various ways to cope with and adapt to rapid environmental change. This edited book, which is a follow-up to a conference entitled “Climate Change, Indigenous Resilience and Local Knowledge Systems: Cross-time and Cross-boundary Perspectives” organized by the Research Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences, Ministry of Science and Technology, presents 16 papers which explore the various dimensions of Indigenous resilience to climate change and disasters in Taiwan and other regions in the world. This book explores the interrelated themes of climate change and Indigenous knowledge-based responses, and Indigenous (community) resilience with specific reference to Typhoon Morakot and beyond. The goals of this book are to discuss the international experience with Indigenous resilience; to review Indigenous knowledge for adaptation to climate change and disasters; and to generate a conversation among scholars, Indigenous peoples, and policy-makers to move the agenda forward. This book focusses on Indigenous resilience, the ways in which cultural factors such as knowledge and learning, along with the broader political ecology, determine how local and Indigenous people understand, deal with, and adapt to environmental change
