    Techno-economic evaluation of cognitive radio in a factory scenario

    Wireless applications gradually enter every aspect of our life. Unfortunately, these applications must reuse the same scarce spectrum, resulting in increased interference and limited usability. Cognitive Radio proposes to mitigate this problem by adapting the operational parameters of wireless devices to varying interference conditions. However, it involves an increase in cost. In this paper we examine the economic balance between the added cost and the increased usability in one particular real-life scenario. We focus on the production floor of an industrial installation where wireless sensors monitor production machinery, and a wireless LAN is used as the data backbone. We examine the effects of implementing dynamic spectrum access by means of ideal RE sensing, and model the benefit in terms of increased reliability and battery lifetime. We estimate the financial cost of interference and the potential gain, and conclude that cognitive radio can bring business gains in real-life applications

From this research, I will come out with the frequency of the Access Point in the building, the radius of the LAN, the coverage in the building, distance between one Access Point to another Access Point, cost estimates and locating the Access Point at the right place in the building. This section includes the features of the wireless system, the benefits from using the wireless system, and the connection of the wireless system. It will clearly state the person in charged for setup the wireless system. The proposed methodology is then discussed in the next section. This section also includes the tools and software that are to be used in developing the system. Then, continue with the result and discussion for the next section. This section is show the result and discussion of this project. Then, it also has the conclusion and recommendation for the last section. This section will give the benefit of the wireless LAN.     Wireless communication is currently in a state of rapid evolution. This evolution is driven by the numerous advantages of the wireless networks. Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is one of the new networking environments where it supports the mobility of the network user without being encumbered by the existing cable. Since the current Local Area Network (LAN) in Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) is fairly growth with good performance reliability, shifting the current setup to WLAN is locally accepted. This will benefit all the UTP users including students, respective lecturers, and beneficial for administration line of staff. The current planning and setup will cover certain stages in order to build a high reliability and best performance of the WLAN environment. Data transmission and signal strength for the area is practically surveyed in order to obtain best performance and ability to transmit data in bit per second required. Research and questionnaire have also been done throughout the UTP students and IT Media Services Executives, in orderto determine the best design concept to be applied in UTP campus and to determine the best place for WLAN to be implemented. Usage models are required in order to support the activity that will be in the WLANenvironment. The conceptual designofWLAN environment will cater the area of the student residential including the Student Centre, cafeteria and student residential. With the design, location of all the devices such as the wireless access point (AP) and security access point (SAP) to roam the signal coverage and to secure the signal for data transmission can be determined. The technology used in data transmission is also being covered in this research paper, which includes the Spread Spectrum LAN. To ensure the system meets the budgeted cost, the author came out with the budgeting plan for all the devices allocated for the WLAN setup.     This paper presents and discusses various issues pertaining to the deployment of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs).  The popularity of WLANs has steadily increased in the last two years and has led to their deployment in a variety of organizations.  Yet, making a business case for WLANs is an important step in their deployment.  In addition to highlighting the need for a business case for WLAN deployment, the paper outlines the reasons for, benefits of, and security problems associated with, their deployment.  The latter part of this paper presents a case study about the deployment of a WLAN at the University of Akron.  Therein, it discusses the context for the deployment, the process that was used to justify the deployment, and the efforts made to protect users’ information from security deficiencies of wireless networks

    Wireless networks are fast becoming ubiquitous in today's highly networked world. New applications based on 802.11 standards are rapidly expanding into corporate, residential, Wireless-Internet-Service-Provider (WISP), and hot-spot applications. With the advent of WLAN technologies, users are increasingly demand for WLAN high performance. Hence, the main focus of this project is to study, observe and experiment the WLAN implementation and performance analysis. The WLAN implementation and performance characteristics are firstly studied and several experiments are conducted. Two major applications are also performed under the wireless network condition that are File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and video streaming. The results show that the WLAN performance depends on location factors, network load and signal strength. The client location will affect the performance of interbuilding WLAN file transfer process. The media streaming performance can degrade significantly by signal quality

    ABSTRACT High-Speed Mobile Networks for Modern Farming and Agricultural Systems J.Santos Najar-Ramirez High-speed mobile networks are necessary for agriculture to inventory individual plant health, maximize yield and minimize the resources applied. More specifically, real-time information on individual plant status is critical to decisions regarding the management of resources reserved and expended. This necessity can be met by the availability of environmental sensors (such as humidity, temperature, and pH) whose data is kept on storage servers connected to static and mobile local area networks. These static and mobile local area networks are connected to cellular, core and satellite networks. For instance, agricultural experts remotely working on vast acreage farms from business offices or while traveling can easily connect their notebook computers and other portable devices to these networks in order to check farm status, send email, read industry news or arrange a visit to neighbor farms or suppliers. Today, several mobile phone companies offer broadband service with 2Mbps downlink in rural and dense urban areas, however, they do not typically exist in farm areas. Although these networks (such as 802.11ac/n, 3G, 4G, etc) are significant achievements, they do not meet the projected needs of the agricultural industry. The present use model of high-speed networks for email and multimedia content, together with agriculture’s expected intensive use of real-time plant and environmental condition monitoring, with statistics/plots and real-time high resolution video, necessitates a highly integrated and highly available networked system. For agricultural experts, attentive to market needs, seamless high-speed wireless communication ‘anywhere, anytime at any speed’ is critical to enhancing their productivity and crop yields
