Input-output stabilization of linear systems on Z

    Get PDF
A formal framework is set up for the discussion of generalized autoregressive with external input models of the form Ay__Bu, where A and B are linear operators, with the main emphasis being on signal spaces consisting of bounded sequences parametrized by the integers. Different notions of stability are explored, and topological notions such as the idea of a closed system are linked with questions of stabilizability in this very general context. Various problems inherent in using Z as the time axis are analyzed in this operatorial framework

Rejection of mismatched disturbances for systems with input delay via a predictive extended state observer

[EN] The problem of output stabilization and disturbance rejection for input-delayed systems is tackled in this work. First, a suitable transformation is introduced to translate mismatched disturbances into an equivalent input disturbance. Then, an extended state observer is combined with a predictive observer structure to obtain a future estimation of both the state and the disturbance. A disturbance model is assumed to be known but attenuation of unmodeled components is also considered. The stabilization is proved via Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, leading to sufficient conditions in terms of linear matrix inequalities for the closed-loop analysis and parameter tuning. The proposed strategy is illustrated through a numerical example.PROMETEOII/2013/004; Conselleria d'Educacio; Generalitat Valenciana, Grant/Award Number: TIN2014-56158-C4-4-P-AR; Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad, Grant/Award Number: FPI-UPV 2014; Universitat Politecnica de ValenciaSanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Fridman, E.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P. A State-Space Approach to Parametrization of Stabilizing Controllers for Nonlinear Systems

    Get PDF
A state-space approach to Youla-parametrization of stabilizing controllers for linear and nonlinear systems is suggested. The stabilizing controllers (or a class of stabilizing controllers for nonlinear systems) are characterized as (linear/nonlinear) fractional transformations of stable parameters. The main idea behind this approach is to decompose the output feedback stabilization problem into state feedback and state estimation problems. The parametrized output feedback controllers have separation structures. A separation principle follows from the construction. This machinery allows the parametrization of stabilizing controllers to be conducted directly in state space without using coprime-factorization

Properties of recoverable region and semi-global stabilization in recoverable region for linear systems subject to constraints

This paper investigates time-invariant linear systems subject to input and state constraints. It is shown that the recoverable region (which is the largest domain of attraction that is theoretically achievable) can be semiglobally stabilized by continuous nonlinear feedbacks while satisfying the constraints. Moreover, a reduction technique is presented which shows, when trying to compute the recoverable region, that we only need to compute the recoverable region for a system of lower dimension which generally leads to a considerable simplification in the computational effort

Internal stabilization and external LpL_p stabilization of linear systems subject to constraints

Having studied during the last decade several aspects of several control design problems for linear systems subject to magnitude and rate constraints on control variables, during the last two years the research has broadened to include magnitude constraints on control variables as well as state variables. Recent work by Han et al. (2000), Hou et al. (1998) and Saberi et al. (2002) considered linear systems in a general framework for constraints including both input magnitude constraints as well as state magnitude constraints. In particular, Saberi et al. consider internal stabilization while Han et al. consider output regulation in different frameworks, namely a global, semiglobal, and regional framework. These problems require very strong solvability conditions. Therefore, a main focus for future research should focus on finding a controller with a large domain of attraction and some good rejection properties for disturbances restricted to some bounded se

Robust controller design for input-delayed systems using predictive feedback and an uncertainty estimator

[EN] This paper deals with the problem of stabilizing a class of input-delayed systems with (possibly) nonlinear uncertainties by using explicit delay compensation. It is well known that plain predictive schemes lack robustness with respect to uncertain model parameters. In this work, an uncertainty estimator is derived for input-delay systems and combined with a modified state predictor, which uses current available information of the estimated uncertainties. Furthermore, based on Lyapunov-Krasovskii functionals, a computable criterion to check robust stability of the closed-loop is developed and cast into a minimization problem constrained to an LMI. Additionally, for a given input delay, an iterative-LMI algorithm is proposed to design stabilizing tuning parameters. The main results are illustrated and validated using a numerical example with a second-order dynamic system. This work was partially supported by projects PROMETEOII/2013/004, Conselleria d EducaciĂł, Generalitat Valenciana, and TIN2014-56158-C4-4-P-AR, Ministerio de EconomĂa y Competitividad, Spain.Sanz Diaz, R.; GarcĂa Gil, PJ.; Albertos PĂ©rez, P.; Zhong, Q.
